After Death, Love Unveiled (Elara and Lysander)

Chapter 257

Asher said, "You're introducing Dana to an old man? She complained all the way to the Hawthorne family's home!"

Hearing this, Daphne frowned. "How could that be? Where did introduce her to an old man? Mrs. Smith's brother isn't old at all. He just returned from studying abroad! How could he be id?" She added, "Dana is being dramatic! And why did she complain to Elara? Does she see Elara as her real family?

"Asher, your sister is just like your mother. Neither of them sees you as family. In this house, it's only you and me on the same side."

Asher didn't want to argue with Daphne about this.

He stood up and said, "I'll go get her."

"I'll go with you," Daphne said, her tone gentle. "You're so tired. Let me keep you company."

The two left together.

At the Hawthorne family's residence, as dinner wrapped up, Ursa walked in. "Mrs. Hawthorne, Mr. Hawthorne. Asher and his wife are here."

When Dana heard this, she immediately stood up, clearly agitated.

She turned to Elara. "Elara." She was close to tears and looked worried.

Elara noticed Dana's fear and reassured her gently, "Don't worry We're all here. They're just coming over to talk. It's nothing serious. Let them in." Ursa nodded. "Alright."

Dana turned to Elara, her voice trembling. "Elara, I don't want to go back. I'd rather wait here until my mom arrives."

Seeing Dana's anxious expression, Elara said, "If you don't want to go back with them, then don't. Wait here until your mom gets back."

Even so, Dana pressed her lips together, her eyes filled with worry.

Soon, Daphne and Asher arrived.

Asher frowned upon seeing Dana. "Why do you always run here: People who don't know better might think I sent you here!" Already exhausted from work, her behavior only added to his irritation. Dana blurted out, "I don't want to marry some old man!"

Daphne quickly replied, "I'm not making you marry an old man, Dana, I introduced someone to you out of kindness, and you overreacted. You haven't even met him, yet you're calling him an old man?" Dana retorted, "Mrs. Smith is so old herself. What kind of decent man could her younger brother be? I'm not going back! I'll stay

here until my mom gets back!"

Daphne scoffed. "You've got some nerve! Do you want to stay here without even asking? Do you think they want you here?"

As she spoke, she glanced at Elara and Lysander.

Dana looked pitifully at Elara. "Elara..."

Seeing her expression, Elara turned to Daphne. "Daphne, the person you're introducing to Dana wouldn't happen to be Mrs. Smith's brother from Trailblaze Group, would it?" Dana quickly confirmed, "That's him."

Daphine faced Elara. "Elara, this is none of your business. I'm doing this for her own good! If she marries Mrs. Smith's brother, she'll become a socialite. I'm thinking about her futurel Elara said, "I understand you're eager to work with Trailblazé Group, but dragging your sister-in-law into this is pretty shameless."

Looking at Daphne's brazen and self-assured demeanor, Elara frowned deeply.

She glanced at Asher, who seemed oblivious to the schemes Daphne had been orchestrating.

Daphne retorted, "What do you mean by 'dragging her into this Elara, we're friends, and I respect you. But don't make it sound so bad. This is our family matter, and you don't have the right to interfere."

Elara replied, "I don't want to interfere. But Dana came to me for help. Mrs. Smith's brother is 32 years old, with a string of girlfriends outside. If you didn't know before, now you do. And if you already knew, then you'd better stop." Daphne looked at Dana and said, "Those are all rumors. Dana, don't believe what people are saying. If you don't want to marry him, I won't force you. I only suggested introducing you. I'm not insisting you marry him." Dana hesitated before blurting out, "But you are forcing me to marry him!"

When they were at home, Daphne never had this soft-spoken attitude toward her.

Elara glanced at Daphne. "Stop playing two-faced games. Asher, you'd better keep your wife in line."

Asher's

gaze

shifted to Lysander, who was seated beside Elara.

Seeing how harmonious their life was now, with rumors of Elara even being pregnant, a wave of jealousy surged within him.

Asher said coldly to Elara, "I know how to handle my affairs. Dana, we're leaving. Don't worry. I won't let Daphne introduce anyone to you again."

"Really?" Dana's tone was full of doubt. "You're so busy with work you're hardly home."

"I'll make it clear to her right now." Asher looked at Daphne and said, "Stop introducing people to her, alright? And next time, be clear about what you're saying."

Daphne replied cheerfully, "Alright, got it! I was trying to help. How was I supposed to know Dana would hate me for it? Dana, let's head back! I won't introduce anyone else to you!"

Asher turned to Dana. "Let's go. It's late, and they need to rest." Reluctantly, Dana glanced at Elara. "Elara, I'll head back now."

Elara wanted to stop her but felt it might not be appropriate.

Asher led Dana out of the house.

Before Daphne could leave, Elara called out, "Daphne."

Daphne paused and turned, smiling faintly. "What is it now, Miss Kensington? Or should I be calling you Mrs. Hawthorne?" 5.00 Ivion, Dec y

Seated calmly, Elara replied, "Dana is a good girl. Stop making things difficult for her. It wouldn't hurt to be a little kinder

The mention

of kindness made Daphne chuckle. "Everything I do is wrong to you, isn't it? You tell me to be kind. Have you ever been kind to me? You've always targeted me."

Elara warned, "Don't assume your secrets are completely hidden from others. Let me remind you. If anything happens to Dana, I'll go to the police. You're her sister-in-law. If she gets hur, I'll hold you accountable" "On what grounds?" Daphne shot back indignantly.

"Because it's your responsibility to take care of her," Elara replied firmly.

Daphne bit her lip, glaring at Elara, and stormed out. She couldn't understand why Elara had to involve herself in this. It wasn't like she had provoked her.

Outside, Asher and Dana were already in the car. Dana sat in the back while Asher started the engine.

As Daphne approached, Asher couldn't hold back and said sternly to Dana, "If you run off to that house again, I won't care what happens to you! Don't call me your brother or try to return to the Linde family." Hearing his harsh words, Dana felt aggrieved and muttered, "It's Daphne who bullies me."
