After Death, Love Unveiled (Elara and Lysander)

Chapter 256

Elara said, "Yeah."

Felicity remarked, "This case went pretty smoothly, right?"

Elara said, "Pretty smoothly. Finally, I can take a break."

Aubrey, sitting nearby, greeted her. "Elara!"

Elara responded with a smile, "Aubrey, long time no see. How's the company doing lately?"

He replied, "Pretty good."

Felicity chimed in, "Oh, by the way, you have a guest!"

"A guest?" Elara was puzzled and walked toward the door.

Inside the dining room, he saw Dana sitting there.

After Elara and Lysander's wedding, Steven brought Violet home.

Elara hadn't expected Dana to show up here. She asked, "Dana, what brings you here?"

Dana turned around and looked at her. "Elara."

Her eyes were wet, and she looked rather pitiful.

Elara was taken aback by her appearance and walked over, examining her. "Why are you at my house? If you're looking for Violet, she isn't here." Dana replied, "I know. I came to see you."

Elara was surprised. "Me?"

"Can I stay at your house for one night?" Dana asked.

Elara was confused. This request was a bit sudden for her.

Before she could respond, her phone rang.

She glanced at the screen and said to Dana, "Wait here for a moment."

Elara stepped outside to the poolside to answer Violet's call.

Violet said over the phone, "Elara, Dana has nowhere else to go. Please let her stay for the night."

Elara asked. "How so? Her family is here, isn't it? Her family members are around too!"

Violet explained, "You have no idea. Her sister-in-law is awful! She even wants to set Dana up with someone. Forcing her to

Talking about this, Violet sounded indignant.

Elara asked, "Sister-in-law?"

Violet replied, "Yes, Daphne! She's trying to introduce Dana to some old man and is pressuring her to meet him! It's so disgusting. Elara, please let her stay just for tonight. And keep this a secret from others, okay?" 1/4 Chapter 256

After saying goodbye, Elara hung up.

Elara returned inside to see Dana still sitting at the dining table. Ursa had served her a dessert. "Have some. Miss Linde

Dana looked at her and said softly, "Thank you."

Elara observed Dana closely. She seemed deeply unhappy and much quieter than before.

When Dana saw Elara return, she looked up and asked hesitantly "Can I stay here for the night, even if it's just on the couch?" "Where's your mom?" Elara asked.

Dana replied, "She's not home for the next couple of days."

Elara asked again, "Why don't you call her?"

Dana said, "She's been busy lately. And Daphne's word carries more weight at home now. My mom can't do much about it."

Elara snapped, "That can't be true! Talk to your brother! He can't just let Daphne do whatever she wants.

"They have such a good relationship! Asher won't listen to me. He'll think I'm being unreasonable." Dana looked utterly dejected. Seeing her like this, Elara sighed helplessly.

She had time-traveled from the future, so she knew too well how horrible those two could be. She couldn't help but feel sorry for Dana.

"Stay here and eat," Elara said.

With that, she stepped out of the dining room.

Felicity looked at Elara and asked, "How is she?"

Elara replied, "There's some trouble with the Linde family. She wants to stay here for a while to avoid it. She seems to be in a bad mood, so let her rest. We'll discuss it later when Lysander gets back." Felicity nodded. "Alright!"

They let Dana stay for dinner. Afterward, Elara let her relax on her own.

When Lysander returned, he saw Dana sitting on the couch and paused in surprise.

He said, "Dana, what are you doing here?"

To keep her away from Violet, he had asked Steven to take Violet back home. He didn't expect Dana to show up anyway.

Seeing Lysander's sour expression, Dana grew nervous.

Lysander called over Ursa. "Who let her in?"

Ursa replied, "M/s. Hawthorne did."

Hearing this, Lysander's expression turned even colder. He stood up and went upstairs.

Elara was sitting on the sofa, her legs propped up on a stool, relaxing.

Lysander walked in and saw her in her pajamas, looking soft and gentle under the warm light.

"I just saw Dana downstairs," he said.

"I was waiting for you to come back so I could tell you about it," Elara replied, explaining Dana's situation. "What do you think we should do?" "I'll call Asher."

""You will?"

Lysander looked at her. "Of course. Why should you be the one to call? No way am I letting him hear your voice. He doesn't deserve that privilege." Elara was speechless. She gave him a helpless look as he picked up his phone to make the call.

Asher had just gotten home. Only Daphne was there.

When she saw him, she got up to greet him, taking his coat.

"Back so soon?" she asked with a smile.

Asher, looking displeased, said, "I'm going to the study."

Daphne asked again, "Still no progress?"

He glanced at her. "If things were going well, do you think I'd be in this mood? Trailblaze Group is pushing to collaborate with Windmill Video now."

Since Lacey left for Adam's team, their side had been growing stronger, which was irritating Asher.

Daphne said, "I've been building a good relationship with Mrs. Pamela Smith from Trailblaze Group these past few days. Don't worry."

"Really?" Asher sat down, visibly tired from recent company issues that had kept him away from home.

Daphne continued, "Didn't I mention last time that we should introduce Dana to Mrs. Smith's younger brother? Once that's arranged, wouldn't collaboration be guaranteed?" Asher frowned. "And where is Dana now?"

Daphne replied, "I don't know. She hasn't been around all evening. Honestly, she's getting more and more disobedient! I told her this match would be good for her."

She added, "A connection like Mrs. Smith's brother is a step up for her. Yet she acts like I'm ruining her life."

Asher's phone rang, interrupting her.

He took the phone and saw Lysander calling. He had saved Lysander's number.

Asher answered, "Why is the great Mr. Hawthorne calling me?"

Lysander said, "Your sister is at my house. Come pick her up."

"Why is she at your house again?" Asher, recalling the judgmental stares he always got when picking Dana up from the Hawthorne family, felt annoyed.

"Are you abandoning her?" Lysander asked, his tone sharp.

Asher replied, "Why don't you send her back? I'm exhausted right now."

Lysander said, "I heard your wife wants to set her up with some old man, so she's hiding out here. She probably won't agree. to let me send her back." Asher froze and looked at Daphne. "Old man?"

Lysander's voice deepened. "If you don't come, she can stay here You can explain to Mrs. Linde why you didn't pick her up."

Asher hung up and turned to Daphne. "What's this about an old man?"
