Chapter 105
Chapter 105
"Don't worry, Izabella. I will take good care of your child. I won't let him be disabled, like having a broken arm or a limp leg. I'll let him live well, just like you, to live a life worse than death."
Brett's face stiffened suddenly upon hearing this recording.
Kaley was still holding onto Brett's arm, but her grip had loosened. A chill from the depths of her heart spread to every corner of her body.
"It's not what it seems, Brett."
After a while, Brett lowered his head to look at her, his eyes cold and his face without a trace of a smile. The oppressive atmosphere he exuded made Kaley feel uneasy.
Kaley knew deep down that she was in big trouble.
"What is it supposed to be, then?" Brett asked with a sneer. He couldn't believe Kaley would say such malicious things to Izabella after he left.
He stared at her for a long time, and then said, "Kaley."
Kaley suddenly let go of his arm, unable to help but step back, looking at the ferocious expression that gradually emerged on Brett's face, and she was terrified, sweating all over.
She was scared of this man she had known for over a decade.
Amelia quietly watched the scene unfold, realizing that there was no need to play any more of the video.
"Kaley, I'm giving you a chance to explain."
Kaley's mind went blank, and tears streamed down her face before she could even speak. She pleaded, "The things I said to Izabella weren't really what I thought. I was just jealous that she took you away from me for so many years. I never meant any harm. You know I'm not usually like this, Brett."
Amelia held her phone, sneering, "So you said those things intentionally to provoke Izabella and then lied that she wanted to kill you?"
"Shut up!" Kaley cried, tears continuing to flow.
Brett looked at the tears on her face, surprisingly calm, feeling nothing.
Amelia turned her phone to show Brett the video where Izabella struggled to get up from the bed and fell to the floor.
Kaley could have easily stepped away, but she let Izabella fall on her foot. She even sneakily kicked Izabella, which caused Izabella's IV needle to be pulled out of her arm.
The video clearly showed Kaley's ferocious face and the glaring red on Izabella's arm.
"Do you still believe her?" Amelia asked.
Kaley didn't dare to look at her ferocious face in the video. She cried, "Brett, don't be deceived by her. The video is misleading."
Amelia frowned, thinking this woman was really good at spinning stories.
"So you're saying your words were not intentional, and the video is a fraud. You just want Izabella to be treated like a fool and suffer bullying, right?" Amelia's face grew cold, "Don't think that just because the Salotti family is gone, you can do whatever you want to her. Just wait for the lawyer's letter, Kaley."
After saying that, Amelia put her phone back in her lab coat and left the ward. There was a lot of work to do at the hospital, and she didn't have time to waste watching a lowlife put on an act. She had said everything she needed to say, and unless Brett had lost his mind, he would not believe Kaley's words anymore.
During the entire process, Brett remained silent, as if he didn't exist.
It wasn't until Amelia left that Kaley, with her tearful red eyes, stood in front of him and cried, "Brett, do you believe what she said?"
"No, I trust my own ears and eyes."
"But sometimes, ears and eyes can deceive you." Kaley raised her voice, her eyes bloodshot, "Brett, we've known each other for so many years, how could you trust a video given by a woman you just met today? You know my character, I wouldn't lie to you."
"You reminded me of something, eyes and ears can be deceptive."
Before Kaley could relax, she saw Brett bend down and grab her jaw with a force that felt like it could crush her bones.
"How many times have you lied to me, Kaley?"
