Chapter 1953
Clang!
Frank moved even before Silverbell could react, knocking the short blade out of Stanwick's hand with a bullet of pure vigor.
"How dare you!"
As the short blade landed audibly, Silverbell was sweating bullets as she finally realized that Stanwick had tried to take her by surprise and stab her.
She would definitely be hurt if Frank was not there, and the surprise in her eyes soon turned to rage.
"How dare you, Stanwick!"
"You tried to attack Lady Silverbell?!"
"There's no hope for you!"
The other Martial Alliance executives were definitely stunned by the sight as well.
Thank goodness Silverbell was safe, or they would definitely be blamed for the mishap!
As for Stanwick, he gave up on all pretense upon seeing that his sneak attack had failed.
"Hehehe..." He sneered in contempt as he stared Silverbell in the eye up close. "Lady Silverbell? More like an impudent brat! Do you really think you're such a big deal?!"
Silverbell glowered and bellowed, "What's that supposed to mean?!"
Before she could press Stanwick further, however, he was laughing as he reversed the flow of vigor in his body.
"Watch out!"
Seeing Stanwick's body abruptly bloating while his skin turned crimson from head to toe, Frank quickly pulled Silverbell and leapt over fifteen feet away.
Then, with a maniacal laughter, Stanwick's body exploded into a bloody mist, and there was nothing left of him.
Anger remained on Silverbell's face as she watched the blood unfurling from where Stanwick stood, but she was gripped by shock inside.
Who could have compelled a Martial Alliance branch manager to rather die than reveal their name?
While Silverbell was at a loss, Frank appeared thoughtful.
He more or less had a feeling that Stanwick's actions had something to do with the mysterious commissioner of Zamri.
It was only with the Zamri mayor's warning that he somehow connected both incidents...
That was when an elderly white haired man approached Silverbell. "We've already strayed from our itinerary for the branch inspections, and after something like this..."
He was one of the Martial Alliance executives escorting Silver as she inspected the joining qualifiers held across Draconia to prevent any sudden rule change or cheating behavior.
Stil, the executive's words left Silverbellscowling, and she wheeled on him with a look of displeasure. "What are you suggesting that changed the itinerary on a whim?!"
"No, of course not," the elderly executive replied. "What I'm saying is
that there are rules which must be
followed in every situation, and
coming here was already breaking
one..."
His words were a subtle hint that made Silverbell realize what was going on.
If Stanwick could be that pompous even in death, he definitely had ties to someone involved in the inner workings of Martial Alliance, if not at high command.
Silverbell then glanced at Frank.
She had suddenly changed her itinerary because of him.
And after causing such a scandal, the Martial Alliance definitely had to issue an official statement to explain everything for both Zamri and Riverton. As such, Silverbell nodded.
The elderly executives who followed her around were old, but were also as sharp as tacks.
There was a simple reason why they were now flocking around her, too-they were warning her not to continue her investigation.
That thought alone left Silverbell feeling helpless.
