Chapter 13. Briana Ford Version 2.0
Brie POV
“Carlo Bianchi Salon?” I was surprised when I set my flats–clad feet outside the two–story building that would serve as the meeting place for the appointment Charles set for me.
At first, I thought I got it wrong.
I looked at my phone’s gallery, where I took an image of a piece of paper Charles handed me last night to see if I got the address
correct, thinking there had to be a mix–up.
When double–checking proved I had the correct address, a frown formed slowly on my forehead.
Why would my brother send me to a salon?
Then, when I was about to turn around and ditch the appointment, the glass doors opened to reveal the face of a thirty–ish man with a flawless face and a buzz cut that enhanced his facial hair.
“Ms. Ford, I am Carlo Bianchi. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He told me before lifting his hand in my direction.
While doing so, I noticed how he ran his eyes over my body as if I was merchandise he was trying to inspect. The perusal was not offending, but it was critical like he was assessing me for something.
“I–I don’t understand,” I stuttered in confusion.
He was about to say something, but I raised my palm to interrupt him.
“Just a moment. I needed to clear something.” I told him and walked a few paces away, just out of Carlo’s earshot.
I got my phone and called my eldest brother, Charles.
“You arranged a salon appointment for me? I thought I had a meeting?” I lashed out the moment he picked up.
I woke up early and ditched bonding with my triplets for this early appointment, thinking it was part of work, but what do I get?
A salon appointment.
There was a creak, and I could picture Charles leaning back on his executive chair while laughing at my frustration.
“Don’t laugh at me, Charles!” I cried, wishing I could get my hands on him to wipe the smile off his face.
These brothers of mine love pranking me. I wonder how their girlfriends, or in Charle’s case, his wife Jenna, take it.
“Have you met Carlo?” He asked when he finished laughing his
heart out.
“Yeah,” I replied grudgingly.
“That’s your first order today. Carlo Bianchi will be responsible for your total makeover.” He announced.
Now, this does not make sense. I cannot find the connection between running a chain of hotels and my salon appointment.
“Why?”
Besides, the mere suggestion that I had to undergo a makeover was already insulting to my self–esteem.
I don’t understand why my brothers are doing this to me.
Charles cleared his throat,
1, on the other hand, walted at my ond.
“You have to look the part. Rosewood Hotels‘ CEO represents the company. It was not enough that you were knowledgeable in the business. You need to become the embodiment of what high- quality service is all about.”
“And that means a salon appointment?” I could not help the sarcasm from leaving my mouth. My brother is taking this to a whole new level.
Charles ignored the barb and continued to explain.
“You have to look good to feel good. Remember, you are the hotel’s walking advert. You and the Hotel must come interchangeably so that every time people see you, they will be reminded of the service we provide our clients.”
It made sense, but in my opinion, totally unnecessary. I hadn’t heard of anything like it. That I have to look the part. I know how I look; I may not be a knockout like my ex’s fiancée, Britney White, but I know I can carry myself around distinguished guests.
years, and my looks did not become a problem in running Hunter Hotel efficiently. Our clientele increased three–fold when Noah and I took over.” My nose twitched in revulsion when I unintentionally mentioned my ex- husband’s name.
“I had been in the hotel service industry fo
I don’t want to remember him. I closed my eyes to shut down the
involuntary trip to memory lane.

I don’t need to be reminded of the past and be filled with regrets. Noah made his choice.
Charles was silent on the other end, and I was hoping it was because he was mulling over my words.
I was right.
“True. You are beautiful. It’s in our genes. But you can be better. We wanted you to knock everyone off their feet when they saw. you. Dazzle them with your beauty before shocking them with your ntellect. You are a good businesswoman, but you have to be a otal package to make a difference.”
Now, I totally get it. They want me to be the beauty and brains that vill operate Rosewood Hotels that would seal its standing in the lobal market.
fter dropping the call, I went back to Carlo. He was still waiting
the open glass doorway.
ll clear, Ms. Ford?” He asked when I approached him.
odded and thanked him.
ien, I let Carlo usher me inside.
