Chapter 12. Turning Over a New Leaf
Brie POV
Fury I had never known before engulfed my being and spread through every part of my body. There are so many things Noah Hunter had to answer me for..
The lies he concocted were unforgivable.
When I had the triplets, love filled my heart, changing my perspective about getting back at Noah.
The triplets were all I ever needed.
I do not want to muddle our lives by showing up on Noah’s turf. I was so convinced to keep my distance to keep my peace.
But after hearing Goldstone, a different level of anger took hold of my being. Knowing that Noah deliberately kept me in the dark about my inheritance, hate–filled me to the core. What he did was more than cruel.
“What do I have to do?” I looked at Goldstone squarely, letting my anger talk for me.
We stared at each other. I am sure Goldstone was assessing me and my mettle. Then, he smiled. His lips curled, showing off perfectly white teeth.
“Work hard and become the best. Beat Noah Hunter in his own
game.”
I nodded slowly, letting the pain and the hurt swirl around me until it settled on my stomach enough to fuel me inside.

“Okay, I got it,” I promised Goldstone.
From this day forward, I will beat Noah Hunter in his game.
Goldstone squeezed the hands he was holding. It made me aware that he held my hand too long and pulled back self–consciously. Still, the warmth of his hands lingered.
“We are all behind you, sis.” Surprised, I turned around to see my four brothers standing behind me. guess they have heard my conversation with Goldstone.
“I, too,” Goldstone added, taking my hands once more to clasp them between his.
He did it so fast that it caught me unaware.
Feeling heat coursing through my cheeks, I looked at him, and at our clasped hands with my throat parched.
One of my brothers cleared his throat. I think it’s Marcus.
He stared at our clasped hands meaningfully.
Goldstone slowly released my hand and let out an embarrassed laugh.
When Goldstone left, my brothers sat me down for ant interrogation, which I find amusing.
“Do you like Anthony Goldstone?” Marcus said.
I looked blankly at him.
“What are you talking about?”
I am not blind. I knew that my brothers were paring me with

Anthony Goldstone. They had become more obvious these past months.
“He’s a handsome man. Very responsible. What’s not to like?” He added, making me feel weirded out.
Yes, Goldstone is handsome. He is stable and appears. responsible. He could be better than my ex–husband, but right now, I am not thinking of getting another man for myself.
“My children are enough,” I told the four of them.
“You will need someone to be with you 24/7. And the kids needed a father.” Rowan said.
“I am not a child. I don’t need a nanny to take care of me. And the children have four Uncles, whom they could look up to growing up.” I suggested.
Goldstone is too good to be attached to someone like me who carries baggage around her. And more importantly, I don’t think Goldstone shares my brothers‘ views.
“For all we know, the guy already had a girlfriend tucked away somewhere. Please stop pairing us. Besides, I have three little baggage that I need to prioritize. I can’t indulge in anything romantic right now. Riley, Mason, and Brix will always come first.”
Marcus threw his head back and laughed. “No need to bite our heads off, sis. Am just asking. You look flustered.” He commented gratingly.
“Because you are implying something that was not there.
Puleeeze! Don’t!” I warned him off.

man. I already tried it once, and I got burned so hard that I would never repeat the experience.
“One day, you will need a partner. Someone who has your back. With the triplets and with the business.” Marcus told me.
“The four of you are enough,” I told them, resting my head on his shoulder.
Marcus was the clingiest of my brothers. How I view his clinginess depends on my mood. Sometimes, I find it endearing, other times. irritating.
Marcus pressed the tip of his index finger on my forehead and -pushed, which made me cling to him even more.
My other brothers laughed.
That night, I started my lessons. I checked the notes Godstone left me. The documents contained every information on the Ford Empire and the businesses it had a stake in.
But what interested me was their hotels.
I have been working alongside Noah for years and have a fairly good understanding of the hotel business.
“You’ll get in charge of the Rosewood Hotels,” Charles informed me before handing me a piece of paper with contact details.
“This is your first appointment. Be early and do well.” He told me, and we simultaneously rose to our feet to retire for the night.
