Serenity and Zachary York

Chapter 3233

"Serenity, did Old Mrs. York also have her eye on you first before making Mr. York pursue you?"

Serenity laughed. "Zachary and I had a marriage of convenience. Neither of us pursued the other, but we did grow feelings for each other later. It was your typical 'marriage first, love later' situation, though we can't say it has nothing to do with Nana."

Imogen knew a little about Serenity and Zachary's marriage of convenience.

Serenity briefly explained how it came to be and how she only found out later on that Zachary had entirely been forced into marrying her, as well as the hilarious reason the old lady had her eye on her in the first place.

All because that psychic said that Serenity was Zachary's fated wife and that he would be single forever if he did not marry her, Grandma May used Zachary's love and filial piety to force him to marry Serenity. She loved her grandson so much, so how could she just let Zachary be single forever?

That was how the couple had a happy life together today.

Imogen was silent for a moment. "Then why did his grandmother pick me? I can tell you for sure that I've never met her before. Did she find out the details of my birth and use it for an astrology reading to see if we're fated to be together too?"

Serenity giggled. "You'll have to ask her that yourself I don't know either. But as far as I know, that psychic isn't willing to see Nana anymore. He said that their paths had come to an end."

"I don't think you and the rest were chosen because of a psychic reading. I think Nana heard about your characters from her frequent travels and felt you were suitable for her grandsons, so she got her grandsons to pursue you.noveldrama

"She always grumbles about how the York brothers are all outstanding in their own right but are so dumb when it comes to love, mainly because they don't even date, let alone get married. She says she raised blocks of wood instead of grandsons. If anyone asks her to introduce girls to their grandsons, she always says she has her own blocks of wood that haven't flowered yet to worry about and she doesn't have the energy to help others with their springs of love."

Imogen was bemused by this. Grandma May was the funniest old lady she had ever heard of.

"Zack told me that Nana was really amazing when she was young. She brought up all the boys. You can tell how impressive she is by how outstanding each of them is.

"None of the other Yorks has ever tried to overthrow Nana. You can't win. She's an old fox, after all. That's why they'd rather save themselves the trouble and pursue whoever she picks for them—because they trust her unconditionally.”

Imogen felt that Serenity was saying all this because she could not understand why Grandma May had chosen her.

Serenity smiled when she glimpsed Imogen's expression. "Imogen, you don't have to figure out the reason. There are a lot of things we can't understand, so you might as well not think about it and just go with the flow.

"You just have to focus on nurturing your relationship with Dylan. You don't have to worry about your in-laws' character either. They have a very good reputation in Wiltspoon and I can tell you from personal experience that you won't regret it if you marry into this family."

She lowered her voice and said to Imogen, "All the rich socialites of Wiltspoon dream of marrying into this family, you know. It's not because of their riches, but because of the men's characters. In this materialistic society, they're a rare breed even among the wider populace, not just the upper crust."

Imogen whispered back. "I want that too. I wonder if I'll have the fortune of being in-laws with you."

"If you try hard and fight for it, you won't regret it, no matter the outcome." Serenity knew Dylan was still conflicted and uncertain if he would choose Imogen, but it was obvious Imogen felt something for him.

Imogen nodded. “That's right. I'll just make sure I don't regret it."

"Eating well is the priority at all times."

Imogen laughed. "The sky might fall, but I still have to eat."

The two ladies finished eating and Serenity chatted with the others about work before leading Imogen back to her office.

"Do you want to go out for a walk later this afternoon?" Serenity asked.

Imogen replied, "I wouldn't know where to go-I don't know the area or anybody here."
