Melissa's POV

Chapter 10: The Little Girl Found in the Tower

I had thought I would see Sebastian Agrigent soon, but that guy named Brown took us to at special room first.

The man sitting on the sofa was equally striking, his eyes as deep as night, with a slight, charming smirk at the corners of his mouth. Every expression he made radiated an irresistible, demonic charm.

"Is this the haul from this venture?"

He lifted his head and fixed his gaze on the fool who had pulled my hair.

"Yes, Basil! These four are all Lunas. The other lower-class scum have already been locked up."

"The Alphas from the four regions were rather clever this time."

It wasn't until Basil stood up that I noticed just how tall he was.

He held a whip made from wild boar bristles, lifting Phoebe and Kala's faces for inspection.

"Nottingham Forest, South Andover, and the Bay have all accepted our sanctions, but this

from the Meadow came charging in to find her own demise."

foolish woma, o

Brown pointed at me, explaining to Basil.

"What's this Luna called?"

I lifted my head, my gaze steady as I stared calmly at the man before me..

While his looks were certainly unique, he paled in comparison to the men I had

encountered in the past.

"Melissa Kau... Helberg.

I tried to keep my tone calm, but when he reached out his hand toward me, I couldn't help but slap it away.

"She's got some spirit; is she off-limits?"

Basil wasn't angry; instead, he curled his lips in interest.

I looked directly at Brown/unhesitatingly recounting everything that had happened on

the way.

"Since you know I'm a Luna, why do you all feel free to hit me or look down on me whenever you please?? Chapter 10: The Little Girl Found in the Tower

"Tengu? Have you laid a hand on her?"

I was surprised they could find Tengu and Kappa as subordinates. The power of the dark Alphas was truly formidable!

"It's because she spoke out of turn and provoked me," Brown said, his tone suddenly tense. as he hurried to explain.

"That is not a reason to lay hands on an unarmed woman, especially one who is a Luna! Only Mr. Agrigent, Martell, and I have the right to touch them. Have you forgotten that? If

you explain he discovers the haul has been harmed and holds me accountable, how will it?"

Basil struck Brown hard in the face, causing blood to gush from his nose.

With such strict adherence to hierarchy, it was no wonder the Dark Alpha legion was undefeated in battle.

"I sincerely apologize, ladies. Not all of us from the North are this barbaric. He will certainly be punished. As for you secondhand goods, do not worry; we don't like to touch you either. You all have greater uses."

I watched his dignified demeanor, knowing full well this was merely a means for them to intimidate us.

Basil then took us to another dwelling. On the way, we encountered several pack sisters and underage girls.

They were shackled and forced to kneel on the ground, the scene utterly tragic.

"Mr. Agrigent will choose carefully, including you. Do not attempt to seduce him with your looks, nor should you smile or make eye contact with Mr. Agrigent; it would be a grave offense."

As he spoke, his eyes flicked toward me, barely concealing his disdain.

He didn't like secondhand goods, and I felt a flicker of reljef that he wouldn't force me to become his sex slave.

The four of us were settled in a corner of the high tower. Kala and Phoebe quickly tidied themselves up and fell into an embrace to sleep.

As for Shakti, I knew little about her, and she seemed unwilling to engage with us.

Basil hadn't restricted our movements. After cleaning myself up, I decided to wander around the tower.

The werewolves had keen hearing, and in a nondescript little room, I thought I heard something.

I didn't want to meddle in others' affairs on their territory, but the sound was small and faint; it couldn't possibly be a kitten, could it? 16.7%

Pushing open the door, I entered a dimly lit room where a little girl huddled on the bed, shivering and tightly clutching herself.

The air was filled with a faint medicinal scent, and I wondered if her body trembled reflexively.

The musty odor made me cough softly.

"Mommy... Mommy, it hurts! Mommy... Mignon hurts..."

As a mother myself, I couldn't bear to witness such a scene.

I hurried to the girl's side and wrapped her in my arms.

Feeling the warmth, Mignon's cries grew softer.

"Mommy's not hurting. Mignon... You're okay..."

Her hot tears fell onto my tender heart, and seeing her in such pain made it hard for me to breathe.

How could her parents allow her to suffer like this at such a young age?

Drawing from my experience caring for Aaron, I quickly examined her body.

The pressure in her bone marrow must have been too high, causing pain throughout her body. She likely had just taken medicine, which explained the activity in her marrow.

In this condition, she needed proper rest.

How could she have been allowed to wander out like this?

Noticing my anxious expression, this little one surprisingly knew how to comfort me.

"Mommy, don't cry. Mignon is smiling/so Mommy should smile too."

She weakly lifted her little hand and gently brushed it against my cheek.

Had she taken it upon herself to be the caregiver?

I quickly carried her out of the messy room and found another room nearby, gently laying her down on the bed.

Once Mignon's breathing stabilized and her complexion improved slightly, I hurried back to my room, quickly changing into clean clothes.

Although I wasn't sure what illness she suffered from, it was never good to care for a child while carrying bacteria and dust..

Phoebe and Kala had slept for most of the day, finally opening their eyes as night fell completely.

Kala's wounds appeared significantly better, and her energy had fully returned.

Just as I was about to share Mignon's situation with them, a deep, authoritative voice. suddenly resonated at the doorway. "Are the other trophies here?"

His voice flowed like a gentle stream-clear and melodious-though his presence was imposing, evoking a sense of comfort and tranquility. "Besides those you've just seen, these four Lunars are all that remain."

Basil's tone was markedly more respectful than it had been this afternoon.

Realizing that the newcomer was likely Sebastian Agrigent, the three of us immediately tensed up.

The thought of standing before the leader of the dark Alpha made my heart race, the sound of its thumping even echoing in my ears.

I had absolutely no idea where this strange sense of disharmony came from! Phoebe trembled, her legs weakening under the weight of his powerful presence. The other two knelt down, yet I completely forgot Basil's warning.

My gaze fixated on his striking golden-green eyes. His hair was a beautiful shade of brown, and his beard was well-groomed and tidy.

He was well-built, even taller than Elliott. His muscles were well-defined, radiating strength and power.

His face was ruggedly handsome, an aura of dominance surrounding him. His sharp, serious gaze seemed capable of igniting a fire within one's soul.

Perhaps my behavior was a provocation to him, yet as a Lunar, I shouldn't have knelt before him.

In that moment of eye contact, an odd connection seemed to form between us.

He didn't speak to the other three, instead reaching out to pinch my face, examining me closely before signaling to Basil.

"Take her."
