Chapter 584 Childhood Sweethearts (Part One)

"Rhys, you're finally back. How was it? Is your friend alright?"

Eunice asked with a concerned expression on her face as soon as she saw Rhys enter the house.

At that moment, the way Eunice was acting left Rhys at such a loss.

The first thing he thought Eunice would do was to ask where he had been, so he was a bit taken aback

when she greeted him in such an innocent and gentle tone.

"Rhys? Why aren't you answering me? Did your friend get seriously ill? Was it that bad? Do you want

me to go with you to visit your friend tomorrow?" Eunice went on and added.

Then, she walked over toward Rhys and helped him take his coat off and hung it on the coat hanger.

"No, that won't be necessary. Everything's fine. My friend is alright now. Have you been up all night

waiting for me?" Rhys said, feeling a bit guilty deep inside.

Shaking her head, Eunice answered, "You went out at two o'clock in the wee hours of the morning

without telling me where you're going or even leaving a note. I was worried about you and couldn't go

back to sleep, so I just went downstairs to wait for you in the living room."

"Well, Eunice... I'm sorry for making you worry. Thank you," Rhys said.

"Well, I'm glad to hear that your friend is doing fine. But, since it's still quite early, why don't you go back

to bed to get some sleep?" Eunice suggested.

When he heard those words coming from her, Rhys was left dumbfounded once again. Truth be told,

this woman standing in front of him felt so unfamiliar to him. She was being unusually gentle and

caring.

That being said, he decided not to say anything else and simply replied, "Okay, then I'll go upstairs and

have a rest."

After telling her that, he headed straight toward the bedroom with a hint of doubt in his heart.

When Rhys went back to the bedroom, the gentle look on Eunice's face gradually turned into coldness

and aggression.

As a matter of fact, even before Rhys stepped out of their home, she had already transferred the

money to those men.

Of course, Eunice was not so stupid that she wouldn't plan for everything in advance. She wired the

money to another person and then that person was the one who had to send the money to those men.

This way, even if Rhys were to try and find out the truth, there would be no evidence to pin it on her.

And at that moment, Eunice felt sense of merriment and contentment.

Actually, as soon as she received word that Rhys' lover had been gang-raped, she was able to get a

moment of satisfaction in her heart! It was as though a heavy weight had been lifted off her chest.

Eunice truly felt that a portion of the intense hatred that had been brewing inside of her had been

released. In these past five years of being married to Rhys, she had already lost count of the number of

women he had dated.

She also didn't know how many times she had to keep it all inside, and how much pain and suffering

she had to go through.

Just like everybody else, her patience had a limit as well. Add to that the fact that her position as the An

family's hostess would be taken away by Carla soon, Eunice knew that she wouldn't be able to handle

it if she allowed her husband's unfaithfulness to continue any longer!

The day after, a sunny morning welcomed the early risers. Since the weather was quite nice, Carla and

Violet decided to bring their children to the beach.

By the sea, Carla was sitting comfortably on a beach chair and wallowing in the sea breeze, basking in

the sun, all the while looking at the two children running around and playing in front of them.

Right next to her was Violet, who was also lying on the chair, wearing a pair of sunglasses and sipping

on fresh fruit juice.

Somewhere on the beach not far away from where they were sitting, Cody and Sally were having a

good time under the sun.

After a while of running near the water, the two children felt a bit tired, so they both sat down and

started playing with the sand instead.

Although Sally was just three years old, she was brimming with so much energy. She carried around a

small bucket in her hand as she roamed around the area, at times, playing with the sand, and at times,

picking up seashells which she found pretty.

On the other hand, Cody was so engrossed on building a big sandcastle making use of his own small

tools. Right now, his work actually looked so beautiful.

When she was done picking up seashells, Sally walked over toward Cody. Then, she saw the castle he

made and said, "Cody, I want to go inside your castle!" Upon telling him that, she nonchalantly walked

on the castle, which was made of sand, completely laying waste to it.

Seeing his work being destroyed right in front of him, Cody was on the verge of tears. He spent a lot of

time and effort in building this castle, but it was destroyed by Sally in just an instant. And yet she had

the audacity to say, "Your castle is too flimsy. It collapsed before I could even walk on it!"

When Carla, who was sitting on the beach chair, noticed that Sally was being mean to Cody again, she

immediately sprung up from her seat and wanted to give her daughter a talking-to.

However, before she could even open her mouth, Violet said something first, "Cody, did you hear what

she just said? That means your castle is useless, so you should make sure that you're going to build a

really large and super luxurious castle for your future wife. Do you understand?"

Taking off her sunglasses, Violet shot Cody a glance.

Raising his head to look back at his mother and then at Sally, Cody had no idea how he was supposed

to respond to his mother's words.

Actually, despite being only four years of age, Cody more or less knew already what the word, wife

meant as Violet had mentioned it a lot to him before.

That being said, Sally was as clueless as a fish out of water, listening to what Violet just said.

"Mother, what does 'wife' mean?" asked Sally, feeling a bit intrigued.
