Chapter 583 One Night In The Alley (Part Two)
With that in mind, he immediately switched his phone into silent mode.
Putting on his clothes, Rhys carefully sneaked out of the bedroom to answer the phone.
"Olivia, it's already the middle of the night. Is there something wrong?"
"What?!" —
Rhys flew off the handle as he tried his best not to be too loud. Hearing Olivia crying her lungs out, he
quickly hung up the phone and left the house without delay.
When Rhys finally got to the phone booth, he found Olivia who was dressed in ripped clothes, as she
waited for him to come.
—
"Rhys... I didn't mean to bother you. I just really didn't know what to do or who to call..." —
Bitter tears kept on dripping in Olivia's eyes incessantly. As she tightly grasped the door of the booth
which was covered with rust, her fingertips were bleeding. "Those bastards, they… Oh, I have no idea
what I'm supposed to do now."
Rhys heaved a heavy sigh the moment he saw the miserable state she was currently in. Then, he
proceeded to lend her a hand in putting on his jacket.
"It's alright. I'm here for you. You're safe now. But first, we should get out of this place."
However, a look of intense disgust and hatred flashed across Olivia's face. Fuming with anger, she
said, "Rhys, I clearly remember their faces. They might not have gotten too far away now. Would you
please send someone to take them down?
You can't let them escape no matter what!"
Resting his hand on her shoulder, Rhys stepped out of the phone booth and reassured her, "I know,
you don't have to worry. I'll make sure they pay for what they've done to you. Let's get in the car!"
Given that they were one of the most influential families in all of JA City, it shouldn't come as a surprise
that the An family had a lot of connections in the police station.
As he sat inside the car, Rhys called the police and asked them to inspect the surveillance videos
around this section of the road. It shouldn't be that difficult to track them down since not a lot of cars
would be passing by this route.
After that, Rhys drove Olivia back to the hotel.
Just as they had arrived at the hotel, his phone rang. It was Eunice who was calling him.
—
"Rhys, where are you right now? What are you doing out in the middle of the night?" Eunice woke up
and didn't see Rhys when she took a look around the house.
—
"I just headed out. Something happened to a friend of mine. I'll be back as soon as we're done..."
Rhys replied. Little did he know that it was Eunice who actually did this to Olivia.
He was under the assumption that Eunice was simply acting tough because she was so eager be the
one in charge of the An family.
At the very least, to his knowledge, she hadn't done anything wrong yet.
When Olivia walked out of the bathroom, she shot a glance at Rhys who had just hung up the phone.
"Was it your wife who called?"
"Yeah, I left home in the middle of the night without saying a word, so she'll definitely ask me where I
went,"
Rhys replied as he looked at Olivia whose body was covered with bruises. "You need to get some rest,
Olivia. I've already asked someone to track them down as soon as possible. They've set up a couple of
checkpoints. Anyone who drives a suspicious vehicle will be questioned by the police. If all goes well, I
think we'll probably hear some news from the authorities by tomorrow." —
"I'm sorry but I have to go before my wife gets suspicious."
Upon telling her that, Rhys then headed toward the door.
"Rhys, don't you ever wonder whether your wife was the one who did this to me?" Olivia blurted out.
—
She had never really given it much thought before because she had never actually met his wife. But the
idea cropped up in her mind just now when he was talking over the phone with her.
In that moment, she recalled the vague statement those wretched men said before they left.
They referred to her as a mistress. If it was merely a random act of rape and violence, how could they
have known about her?
Based on that, someone probably sent those men to defile her.
And after all, Olivia didn't have any enemies in JA City apart from his wife.
"Olivia, I understand that you're hurt and that there's a lot going on inside your head right now. But
even though my wife has a such a strong personality, she wouldn't be resort to doing something like
that," Rhys defended Eunice.
When all is said and done, the two of them had been married for about five years now. She was still his
wife. Rhys walked toward Olivia and gave her a pat on her shoulder. "Alright, Olivia. Please just try to
get some sleep for now. I will let you know as soon as I catch those bastards. I have to go." —
— "... Rhys, are you going to detest and hate me?"
Olivia took a step forward and asked him, with her voice sounding like it was about to break.
In truth, she was extremely hesitant to tell him that she had been raped because she was scared that
Rhys might leave her once he found out.
However, if she were to keep it a secret, that would mean she had to go on living knowing that those
men who violated her got away with it. There was no way in hell she could keep all of that in her heart
and act like nothing happened!
Rhys was the only person she knew who would be able to help her get her revenge.
Rhys's eyes shifted from left to right. After a moment, he turned around to face her. "Do you think that
I'm the kind of person who would do that? Try not to overthink things. You should just get some much
needed rest." —
Upon telling her that, he swung the door open and headed out.
By the time Rhys arrived at their home, it was almost the break of day.
—
The second he walked in, Eunice was there sitting in the living room, staring straight at him.
