Chapter 106 Come With Me

Before Maggie could say anything else, a strong hand suddenly gripped her wrist tightly, attempting to pull her closer.

Maggie was momentarily taken aback. When she turned her head, she met Nathael’s stern gaze.

However, Nathael was not looking directly at deep voice, “Come with me.”

her. His intense eyes were fixed on Ericko as he ordered in a

Realising that he meant her. Maggie hesitated, unsure of how to respond.

With Fiona still getting emergency surgery, Maggie felt torn.

Ericko, holding her other hand, intervened softly. “Whether she goes or not is up to her. You’re being a bit pushy, Mr. Harris.”

Maggie glanced between Ericko and Nathael, sensing tension in the air.

However, she could not quite pinpoint the source.

Yet, she did notice that Ericko had a few bruises on his face that looked worse than Nathael’s.

What the hell is happening?

Aren’t you supposed to avoid the face in a fight?

How could anyone destroy such handsome faces?

Shoving her thoughts aside, Maggie tried to wriggle free from the grip of the two men, feeling less torn between them.

“Did you get breakfast?” Nathael redirected his focus to Maggie, who still looked pale, and spoke gently. It was as if the tense moment earlier had not even happened.

Nathael consciously ignored the coat on her as he found it distracting.

After a quick pause, Maggie clocked that she had been gone a while. No wonder he was asking. She answered softly, “Not yet. I ran into Mrs. Adam fainting when I got here, so I got held up.”

Nathael gently suggested, “I had Alex fetch breakfast. Since your stomach isn’t feeling well, you should go. upstairs and eat first. Go on.” Although his tone was coaxing, his deep eyes held a chilling intensity.

Maggie declined, “You go ahead. I’ll go back later.”

With those words, Nathael’s smile disappeared entirely. His eyes darkened with impatience and restraint.

He looked at Maggie. After grabbing her wrist again, he softly asked, “Okay, last chance. You sticking with him or coming with me?”

Maggie felt something was off about his words, but they seemed okay on second thought.

Yet, she sensed a hint of hostility towards Ericko in Nathael’s demeanour. They’re good friends, aren’t they?

The atmosphere turned tense and stifling as she locked eyes with him. His gaze was intense, his grip on her wrist unexpectedly strong.

Just then, Phillip called out, “Ericko, your mom’s out.”

With that, Maggie wiggled free from Nathael’s hold and hurried over to Ericko. However, Nathael instinctively tightened his grip, causing Maggie to stumble.

When she looked up, she saw his dark red eyes.

“You should eat first. No need to wait for me. I’ll go back in a bit, Maggie said, freeing herself from his grasp and following Ericko.

Nathael attemp

to halt her, but all he caught was a piece of her sleeve.

The thin fabric slipped through his fingers, along with all the warmth she carried with her.

Nathael stood motionless, his gaze fixed on the scene unfolding before him. As his eyes took on a dark red hue, a bitter smile curled his lips, hinting at both cruelty and desolation.

He did not want to pursue it and wanted to let it go.

However, she was being so intimate with another man in front of him. Did she think he was easy to manipulate?

Or was he just a fool who was only worthy of being deceived?

As Fiona emerged from the ward, she was clad in a hospital gown.

Her complexion was pale, and her appearance frail despite regaining consciousness.

Accompanied by Ericko and Phillip, Maggie followed closely, observing the somber atmosphere. Meanwhile, Phillip muttered to himself, “I told you to bring along some servants, but you ignored my suggestion. What am I supposed to do if something goes wrong?”

Witnessing her typically composed father wiping away tears, Maggie could not help but feel a sense of shock.

Her father, usually sharp and savvy, appeared unexpectedly downcast, though there were no actual tears.

Fiona, still weak but showing improvement, sat against the headboard with various monitors attached to her body.

“I’m fine with just you and Ericko. Having so many people around makes me dizzy,” she remarked soothingly.

“How are you feeling now, Mom!” Ericko inquired gently, seeming unfazed by the situation.

“Much better. It doesn’t hurt as much now, Fiona replied, feeling guilty for making her son and husband worry.

Her gaze then shifted to Maggie standing beside her, sensing a strange familiarity and closeness.

Before she lost consciousness, she only caught a glimpse of her rescuer’s silhouette, but now, seeing Maggie’s face stirred a sense of deja vu.

“This is Maggic Adam. Mom and Dad. She’s the friend who came to my rescue, Ericko introduced warmly.

Phillip scrutinized Maggie, his brow furrowing as if trying to recall something

However, recalling that Maggie was the one who rushed to Fiona’s aid, any doubts melted away, and he greeted her warmly, “Ms. Adain, what a coincidence that we share the same surname.”

Phillip flashed a smile, still looking dashing and refined despite his middle age. There were also charming wrinkles framing his eyes.

“I’m truly grateful for your help this time. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know what would have happened to my wife,” he expressed his gratitude sincerely, his gaze never leaving Fiona.

He always felt indebted to those who genuinely lent a hand.

“Mr. Adam. How is your wife’s health now? Is she still in danger?”

Maggie steered the conversation away from excessive gratitude.

Phillip’s expression turned serious as he explained, “Dr. Stone suggested immediate surgery, but she’s too weak, so it will be very risky.”

Undisturbed by the news, Fiona called Maggie over and warmly took her hand. She inquired, “Maggie, how do you know Ericko? When did you two meet?”

As she spoke, Fiona’s gaze moved between Ericko and Maggie.

This girl was truly striking. She had a radiant and composed demeanour, a touch of aloofness in her expression, and eyes that immediately captivated others.

Ericko was at a loss for words.

Maggie might have no idea, but he sensed his mother had misinterpreted something, just like the other man.

“Do you have a boyfriend, Maggie? Why don’t you consider Ericko?” Mrs. Adam inquired, her spirits buoyant despite her illness, determined not to indulge in self–pity.
