Chasing My Ex-wife Back

Chapter 88

Chapter 88

“I know you feel terrible because she brought your mom into this. I never met her but you are enough to make me know that she was an amazing woman. I know I probably shouldn’t be saying this right now but I would love for us to visit her. I want to make some promises to her.”

“I honestly cannot stand seeing you like this. Let me know if there is anything I can do to make you feel better.”

Hailey sniffled. “I spoke to my lawyer. We are suing Vanessa. I hope to hear good news from him soon. We haven’t recorded any loss in sales of the company which is a good thing. But we have no idea what is going to happen in the future but I am hopeful.”

“It’s so thoughtful of you to want to grant an interview but I feel it would be better if Vanessa is successfully prosecuted. If that is done, then

the world would have their answers.”

“I just want her to disappear from our lives forever.”

“She will, my love. And this time around, it’s going to be for good. I promise you, babe.”

Hailey nodded. “I’m being hopeful.”

“Thank you for being civil with me despite it all. I am still amazed by your kindness towards me.”

“It’s not your fault. It’s just unfortunate that we have someone who wants to ruin us in our lives. I know you love me. The feeling keeps me

going.”

“It feels good to hear you say that, baby. I’m so blessed to have you.” He brought her hand to his lips and kissed the back of her palm again.

“Your food is going to get cold. You should eat.”

Hailey shook her head. “I’m not hungry.”

“Do you still feel sick?”

Hailey nodded.

“Do you want me to tell the Doctor to come over?”

Hailey sighed deeply.

“Your well–being means so much to me, my love. It’s obvious you are not okay. I can see it on your face.”

“I’m fine. I just need to rest some more and stop crying.”

“Are you sure?”

Hailey nodded, sniffling. “I don’t know why I’ve been such an emotional mess lately.”

“It is probably because you are sick. I wish you would let me call the doctor to come check up on you.”

“No. You won’t understand.” She looked everywhere else but except his eyes.

He raised her chin with his finger so she would look into his eyes. “Talk to me, honey, I’m your biggest cheerleader. I am always here to listen

to whatever it is you have to say.”

“You saw me throw up when you came to pick me up at the office.”

Cole nodded, encouraging her to continue the conversation.

“Your ex said something when she came to meet me in the bathroom.”

“That bitch, I’m going to find her and murder her,” Cole mumbled, then turned his attention back to the woman he loved most in the world. “Tell me, what did she say?”

Hailey was hesitating so Cole spoke. “I swear to you I had no idea she was going to cause trouble. She’s a nurse, I thought she was going to be of help.” Cole said, looking so worried.

“I promise you that nothing is going on between myself and her. The last time I saw her was years ago. Please trust me, babe.”

“She heard our conversation about the wine I didn’t like so she said I could be having Dysguesia.”

Cole frowned. “What does that mean?”

“I. I…..know…….. she’s a nurse but that doesn’t give her the right to put fear in you.” Cole stammered.

Hailey absentmindedly started fiddling with her fingers, staring deep into Cole’s eyes, not wanting to miss his reaction. “Dysguesia means signs of early pregnancy.”

“Please, Mom, talk to Dad.” Vanessa cried, standing behind her mother. It was a few hours later and she still refused to exit her father’s

mansion.

“You both have just five minutes to throw her out or else you are fired.” Eric said to the two security guards from where he was seated.”

The two hefty men took closer steps to where Vanessa was but Connie glared at them, shielding her daughter, stopping both men from coming closer. “I’m going to make sure you all and your family end up in jail if you touch my daughter.”

The two security men stared at each other, confused, wondering whose orders they were going to follow.

“I don’t care! Get her out of my house. Her mother is also free to follow her if she wants.” Eric commanded, returning his attention back to his phone.

“What has come over you, Eric? Why would you let these people humiliate me and my daughter? Well, you’re gonna have to do your worst because we are not moving an inch from here.”

Eric was about to say something when a familiar voice interrupted. It was Mary. One of the housemaids. “You have a visitor, Sir.”

“Who’s that?”

“He said his name is Ludacris.”

Eric frowned. “Never heard of that name. Let him in.”

Mary nodded. She bowed and excused herself. Eric ignored the glare his wife was giving him and turned his attention to his phone, as though she was nonexistent.

Almost immediately, they heard the sound of footsteps which caught their attention. It was Mary and behind her was Ludacris.

Tall, handsome, in a well–tailored suit, neatly styled hair, and in his early forties. He was also holding a big brown envelope.

Eric smiled, putting his phone aside and rising to his feet. “Your face seems familiar. You are a lawyer right?”

Vanessa mumbled some incoherent words, crying even harder.

“Yes, I’m here for Vanessa Summers.” He came to a halt a few steps away from Eric.

“What do you want?” Connie glared at him.

Ludacris ignored Connie and turned his attention to Vanessa who was behind her mother, sobbing quietly.

“Ground one. You defamed my client, Hailey Riley. You called her a slut, accused her of bullying you when you lived together, and also accused her late mother of mistreating you. That’s totally unacceptable to my client’s integrity and to that end, we are suing you for the sum

of 500 billion dollars.”

Connie’s eyes went wide while Vanessa sobbed even more.

“Ground two. You defamed my client’s company. ENROL Incorporation by accusing my client of sleeping around to fund the activities of the company. To that, we are seeking damages of 200 billion dollars.”

“General damages for the emotional trauma you’ve put on my client and to that effect, we are seeking 100 billion dollars, making a total of 800,000 billion dollars.”

“This envelope contains more details of our claim.” Ludacris slammed the envelope on a nearby table. “Including the account details payment is to be made into.”

“You have until 11:59 pm today to pay for the damages or you must appear in court at 9 am tomorrow morning, ready to be sentenced for your actions.”

“No….No….No….” Vanessa’s heart started beating faster, she brought her hand to her chest, her legs slowly gave up and she fell really hard

to the floor.
