Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

19、Flight or Plight

**Lisa’s POV**

A week before our training is through, Leon told me that he already has his flight schedule. So, he would be coming to our house and meeting my parents a few days before his flight. Too bad that I would be graduating on my training without Leon, at the same time happy that he has planned this for our future.

I talked to my parents about me and Leon, and about our relationship for the fast six months.

“I’m sorry father for keeping this relationship from you. Though I have no intention of hiding this from you, for fear that you would go against it if you knew. Leon explained everything to me and the reason why he disappeared. He never cheated on me but he was trapped to marry the woman he thought was his friend. But he didn’t want to. His parents also disowned him because of the incident. Hearing his predicament, I accepted him because I love him. Her sister was the one who helped her to finish his course and helped him until now. Leon lived with his sister at present.” I explained to them.

“He should be the one explaining that to me, not you. So, that was the only reason you wanted to talk to us?” My father questioned.

“Not only that father. Leon wanted to talk with you personally to explain what really happened and asked for your forgiveness. At the same time to let you know that he is going abroad.” I told them.

“When will he come?” My father asked again.

“The day before his flight. He is busy arranging his papers at present.” I explained to them.

“Then Let us know when, so that we can meet him.” My father told me.

“I will father.” I answered him.

Leon is leaving within two days. He told me that he would be coming tomorrow night for dinner. His flight will be the evening after tomorrow. So, I told my parents that Leon will be having dinner with us tomorrow night. I was so excited though sad that we need to part ways for at least two years. I don’t want to stop him from what he planned for us, because he is the man and he needs to prepare for our future. That’s what I always bear in mind, it is for us anyway.

The night has come as he promised to come to have dinner with us. My parents have waited for him until late in the evening. “Let’s go eat. It is already late and I’m already hungry. I doubt that he would come anyway.” My father told me.

“You can go ahead, I’ll wait a little.” I answered.

“He is not coming. If he intended to come, he would have been here a while ago and we should have already finished our dinner. Let’s go eat.” He angrily said.

I started to cry. What had happened again? Why did he stand me up again? My father saw me grieving again. I was already sobbing when my father came to console me again. I was a fool to fall for his promises again. I never learned. Am I that naïve or a fool to believe again to his false promises?

“I know it really hurts sweetie, but life should go on and move on to whatever life comes against your expectation. It is not always bad things or good things that are always happening in our life. We were taught to deal with our failures or shortcomings. When we learn, we will know how to deal with it when it comes again to our life. By now you should learn how life taught you how to deal with failure. So that you won’t succumb to frustrations. You are still young and there’s a lot of good things ahead of you. Just always be aware of circumstances that will fall upon your way. Just enjoy life. Life is just so short that we need to take advantage of what we have today, alright? Stop crying. There’s already a wrinkle on your forehead.” My father comforted me.

“Do I have one?” I questioned him worriedly.

“If you don’t stop crying, you will get wrinkled all over your face.” He jokingly said.

Though I smiled at what he said. I whined a bit to his joke but I embraced him for having there always with me when things not going what I want it to be.
