Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 289

Chapter 289 Three Questions, Three Silences Looking at Hope’s retreating figure, Maia smiled happily for her.

After Hope entered her room, Maia gradually withdrew her gaze, and her smile began to fade. She looked out at the sea, opened the sliding glass door, and stepped onto the balcony. The sea breeze gently brushed against her, but it could not soothe her complex emotions.

She stood on the balcony for an unknown amount of time, sighed softly, and turned around to go inside. However, just as she turned around, she and Cedric, standing on the neighboring balcony, once again met eyes, locking gazes in an instant.

The interplay of their eyes seemed to create a spark. Maia had not expected him to choose a regular suite, let alone one right next to hers. But considering this was his island and his resort, he could stay wherever he wanted.

Maia withdrew her gaze, pretending not to have seen anything, and prepared to walk inside. Yet, at that moment, his deep voice sounded with the sea breeze.

“I'm sorry.”

His words caused a sudden change in Maia’s eyes. She was probably the only person in the world who could make him apologize.

“Sorry for not protecting you.” “Sorry for not trusting you unconditionally.” “Sorry for not regaining my memory when you loved me.”

Cedric’s palm tightly gripped the railing, suppressing the impulse to climb over and pull her into a deep kiss. Every word he spoke came from the depths of his heart.

Maia was not a fool, nor was she indifferent. She could feel his sincerity. With a delicate frown, she stood there, unmoving, neither looking at him nor speaking. After an unknown amount of time, she finally spoke slowly. “There’s nothing to be sorry for. I've already made things clear

to you.” “Is it really clear?” his voice deepened. Maia suddenly looked at him, frowned, and questioned, “Isn't it clear enough?”

“Do you really understand why you lost control of your emotions? Do you dare to say you're not the least bit moved? Do you dare to say there’s truly nothing left for me in your heart?”

His three questions were met by her silence. Maia bit her lower lip, and when she turned to go back into the suite, she said, “I lost control of my emotions out of anger. | wasn’t moved, and there’s absolutely nothing for you heart.”

She was not sure where she found the strength to say those words. When the words were spoken, her body could not help but tremble, as if all the oxygen around her had been sucked away. It was like she was in a vacuum, unable to breathe.

Maia clenched her fists, quickly entered her suite, and used all her strength to close and lock the balcony’s glass door. Seemingly simple actions took all the energy she had. Leaning against the glass door, her back against the cool glass, she slowly crouched down, following the path of the glass door.

The moonlight, bright and clear, spilled into the room, casting a cold, desolate, and even pitiable shadow on her slender figure.

Maia had no idea that the man could not resist looking through the balcony, and at this moment, he stood behind her, watching her figure through the glass door. Heartbroken, he felt utterly helpless.

“Should | give up?”

Cedric’s lips parted slightly. Seeing her so unhappy and feeling uncomfortable because of him, he considered it for the first time. Would letting her be free be better? Would disappearing from her life make her happy? Should he give up?

That night, Maia did not sleep well. Waking up intermittently, it was not until the latter part of the night that she slept a little more soundly.

Early the next morning, the doorbell rang. Hope thought it was the makeup artist from the company, so she immediately went to open the door. The door had just opened when Vicky, dressed in summer style, appeared in front of them.

“Vicky?” Hope was genuinely surprised, never expecting Vicky to come.

“| bet you weren't expecting me, right? | personally brought you both the dresses.”

Hope really had not expected it. “You’re here. What about the studio?”

“Taking a week off. | gave everyone paid leave.”

Although Vicky was volatile, the clothes she designed were truly exceptional. Despite her temper, customers still flocked, to her. “Clear your mind for a week and enjoy the vacation, “Vicky said with a rare smile.

Later, Vicky followed Hope into the suite.

“Vicky, just take a seat. I'll go check if my sister is awake!” Hope said.

“Sure.” Vicky nodded.

Hope immediately ran to the other side of the suite. Just as she was about to knock on the

“Is the makeup artist here?” Maia asked.

Before she could finish her sentence, she saw Vicky standing by the sofa. Waving at Maia, Vicky warmly said, “Hello, it’s not the makeup artist, but it's me. | personally brought you the dresses.”

“Vicky?” Maia was also surprised.

“You and Hope are exactly the same! What? Can’t | be at the Horizon Awards?!” Vicky said, hands on her hips, looking fierce like a tigress.

Maia and Hope exchanged a smile.

“Did you take hot tea early in the morning?” Maia teased. “The temperature on the island is already high. If you get too agitated, you might get heatstroke.”

“| don’t want to be angry either, but who would have expected that just entering the resort, | would run into that... what's-his— name, the award winning actor? Regardless of how famous he is, based on my family background and experience, would | be afraid of a single actor?”

“Award-winning actor?” Hope, hearing Vicky’s words, looked at Maia and said in a low voice, “I think there’s only one award— winning actor attending the Horizon Awards this time. The other two couldn't adjust their schedules, so they unfortunately won’t be present. So, when Vicky encountered an award-winning actor, could it be...?”

“Aiken,” Maia calmly said. Vicky immediately continued, “Exactly, that scoundrel!”

Upon hearing Vicky say this about Aiken, Hope looked at Maia and whispered, “Vicky, Aiken has a huge fan base, it might not be good to call him a scoundrel.”

“What's wrong with that? Seeing him is worse than getting bitten by a dog!”

Hope widened her eyes. “Vicky, did something happen between you and Aiken?”

“Did he kiss you?” Maia said in a knowing manner.

Vicky's face turned somewhat red, though it was unclear whether it was due to anger or embarrassment.

“Nothing happened. It’s just an accidental kiss, nothing serious!”
