Whispers Of Betrayal (Anastasia and Alastor)

Chapter 199

Chapter 199

Alastor was at a loss for words, seemingly recalling Anastasia’s efforts. His gaze lowered. “Anastasia, I’ll make it up to you.”

“Making it up, that’s what you say every time.” Anastasia only felt amused.

“Getting divorced and obtaining the divorce certificate upon leaving the hospital is the greatest compensation for me,” she thought.

“That couch, when unfolded, serves as a makeshift bed for caretakers. It is not as comfortable as your few-hundred-thousand-dollar mattress at your home. Just bear with it,” Anastasia said indifferently and lay down. Anastasia covered herself with the blanket and showed her back to Alastor. Turn off the lights and go to sleep.”

She didn’t want to see him.

Alastor sat on the couch and looked at Anastasia for a while. Alastor eventually stood up, walked over to the bedside, and raised his hand in an attempt to help her cover the blanket.

But Anastasia seemed to have discovered his intention. Anastasia covered herself with the blanket and didn’t give him this chance.

Alastor stood stiffly by the bed and looked at Anastasia for a long time.

“Annie…” After a long time, he said in a hoarse voice.

Anastasia ignored him.

Perhaps it was because every time he came home so exhausted in the past, Anastasia would gently embrace him, take off his clothes, and softly comfort him.

But now, all Anastasia gave him was a cold gaze and her back.

Seeing that Anastasia ignored him, Alastor sat by the bedside and lay down sideways to hold Anastasia in his arms.

The hospital bed was so small that two people could hardly fit.

Anastasia felt disgusted and clenched her hands tightly until they went numb. “Stay away from me.”

“Annie…” Alastor’s voice remained tired as he buried his head in Anastasia’s hair. “Let me hold

you, please…”

“No.” Anastasia tried to push him away. However, she accidentally tugged at her wound, causing her forehead to break out in sweat from the pain.

“Annie… Please. Just like before, okay?” Alastor was probably not accustomed to it.

He was not accustomed to Anastasia being so cold to him.

Anastasia’s body significantly stiffened. With teary eyes, she looked out the window.

She thought, “Just like before and be a soulless walking dead?”

“Alastor, who do you think you are?” Anastasia chuckled sarcastically. “Do you think I can’t live without you?”

“Annie…” Alastor didn’t answer Anastasia’s words but kept calling her name repeatedly.

The intimate way

he addressed her was a manifestation of his married yearning. Alastor rarely addressed her that way.

In the past, he would only call her Annie when he was emotionally moved.

Tears gathered in her eyes. It turned out that it was both painful to love someone and also not to love them.

When in love, the pain lay in Alastor for not loving her.

When not in love, the pain came from regretting the limitless efforts she had put in

Perhaps Anastasia should be more selfish. A bit more selfish would be better.

“I’m so tired.” Alastor’s voice was hoarse. “My father… came to the company today, saying that his illegitimate child has the right to inherit my grandfather’s estate and asked me to give up my shares to him.”

Alastor’s voice was hoarse, and he just wanted to talk with Anastasia to relieve some of his mental pressure.

In the past, Alastor rarely talked to Anastasia heart-to-heart.

But Anastasia always keenly sensed when something was off with him.

Now, Anastasia was too lazy to care about his emotions. However, he was shameless enough to tell her voluntarily.

“Your grandfather’s will has been notarized. You don’t need to give them to him. They belong to you.” Even so, Anastasia still spoke.

Perhaps she hadn’t come to hate Alastor to that extent yet.

She was just tired and didn’t want to love him anymore.

“The validity of the will is based on me being married. If you divorce me now… What should I do?” Alastor seemed to be admitting his vulnerability.

“Annie… The company affairs and my grandmother’s condition are so overwhelming that I’m suffocating. Can you not add chaos to me at this time, please?” Alastor tried to coax Anastasia into being sensible as before.

Anastasia took a deep breath. Anastasia knew it all along. Alastor would not be so attentive without a reason.

“After our divorce, you and Felicia can get married immediately. Same thing,” Anastasia suggested to Alastor with a hoarse

voice.

“Are you really going to give me to someone else?” Alastor’s voice was also hoarse.

Anastasia was well aware that if she still insisted on getting a divorce after this commotion Christian had caused by returning with an illegitimate child, Alastor would be forced to marry someone else immediately, even if unwilling, in order to consolidate his position in the Lopez Group.
