CHAPTER 26
Ingrid strode down the stairs in huge steps and darted toward the entrance. She easily found Hansel’s car parked by the roadside.
He leaned against the front of the car. He wore a cream t–shirt inside his dark grey coat with a pair of sleek black casual pants. It made him look like a student, young and energetic. His appearance turned heads.
Within three minutes, he had checked his watch thrice.
They’d promised to meet at 10:00 am. It was already past ten.
Pulling out his phone, he found Ingrid’s number. Just as he was about to call her, at sweetly scented figure approached him.
Ingrid put her arms around his neck. In a honeyed tone, she asked, “Have you been waiting for long?”
“You’re late.” Hansel glanced at her while lazily sticking his hands in his pockets.
“I’m sorry. I promise to be punctual next time.” Seeing that he wasn’t annoyed about. that, Ingrid silently heaved a sigh of relief.
“Get in.” Hansel realized her intentions but didn’t bother to expose her.
Ingrid swiftly got into the passenger seat. On the way, she kept chattering on and on without pausing. Hansel drove with his eyes focused on the road. He occasionally replied to her.
When the car stopped at an intersection, Ingrid happened to look out the window. The large LED screen was displaying an advertisement on the newly opened theme park.
Instantly intrigued, she tugged on Hansel’s shirt. Her eyes lit up with anticipation. “Dear, shall we go there today?”
Hansel hummed in agreement. They were celebrating her birthday today, so it didn’t matter to him where they were going.
He casually handed Ingrid a bag imprinted with the logo of a luxurious jewelry brand. Your birthday gift.”
Ingrid opened it. Surprised, she exclaimed, “Isn’t this Covetus‘ limited edition bracelet from the latest collection? It’s super expensive and really hard to get!”
As she spoke, she immediately took it out of the box and put it on. The bracelet featured a seashell design, and white crystals were embedded on its chain.
She couldn’t restrain herself from waving her hand before Hansel. “Is it pretty? How did

you know I’d like this?” she chirped. Upon hearing her coquettish tone, Hansel felt tender deep down.
When the light turned green, he released the brakes.
As he glanced at her, he realized she was snapping a photo with her phone. He casually said, “I’m glad you like it.”
Winter said she was taking Miranda somewhere, but the latter hadn’t expected her to come so early. She’d just woken up when she’d received Winter’s call.
Winter urged her, saying, “Hurry up, Mimi. I can’t park here. You have ten minutes!”
Ten minutes later, Miranda got into the car. She’d brought a sandwich for Winter. The latter took a bite and clicked her tongue softly. “You’re never late.”
Η
The sportscar whizzed through the streets and eventually stopped outside the newly opened theme park.
Miranda looked up. “Is this where you wanted to take me?”
“Hey, what if you get bored from studying every day? It’s the weekend, so of course, we have to enjoy ourselves. I’m going to get tickets. Wait here.”
Soon, Winter returned. Besides the tickets, she was holding two hair accessories.
*One for each of us,” she said, handing Miranda the one shaped like a white fox. She kept the pink fox accessory for herself.
After putting hers on, she realized Miranda hadn’t done the same. She asked, “Why aren’t you putting it on?”
Miranda put hers on in resignation. Winter stood right in front of her and sized her Satisfied, she nodded. “It’s so furry. Not bad. You look like a pretty little fox.”
