Chapter 155
“I followed you here,” Dylan said.
With that said, he carefully stared at Audrey, afraid of upsetting her
Sure enough, Audrey’s expression darkened when she heard Dylan’s words. She gave him a cold glance and frowned. showing a hint of chill.
“So you’ve been sitting in the car waiting for me since you followed me here and haven’t eaten anything?” she asked.
Audrey arrived here a little after ten in the morning. She thought, ‘It’s almost two in the afternoon now. He has been waiting. here for more than three hours without eating or drinking? No wonder his voice sounds a bit hoarse
Her expression was grim. Her gaze on Dylan also became colder. She then chuckled indifferently,
“Dylan, who are you trying to show your action to? It’s your own body. Do you think by following me here without eating or drinking for a few hours, I’ll treat you a certain way?”
Audrey’s tone was icy and indifferent, with a hint of a sneer.
Upon hearing that voice, Dylan suddenly panicked. In his fluster, he forgot about the jealousy he felt earlier when he saw Audrey with another man.
He suddenly grabbed Audrey’s hand and explained carefully.
“It’s not that, sweetheart. Don’t be angry. I didn’t mean to stay here without eating or drinking. Please don’t be mad, okay?”
Meek to the core, his voice was full of tremors and caution. It intensified Audrey’s anger.
She brushed Dylan’s hand away in frustration and sneered sarcastically.
“What is your intention then? What is it if it’s not a deliberate act of not eating and drinking to show me? Dylan, if you think that I’ll be soft–hearted toward you and feel sorry for you, you don’t have to use your own body to manipulate me. Please don’t appear in front of me again!”
Noticing that Audrey was really angry, Dylan ignored her brushing his hand away. He moved forward to hold her hand.
With a smack, Audrey harshly knocked his hand away again.
Her smack was hard. A few red marks immediately appeared on the back of Dylan’s cold and flawless hand.
Seemingly not feeling any pain, Dylan held Audrey tightly in his arms and pressed her close. His trembling voice was filled with fear and panic.
“Baby, don’t be angry. Don’t ignore me. I just. I just care about you too much. I’m afraid that if something happens suddenly, you won’t want me again. Baby, I won’t do this again. Don’t be mad at me, okay?”
Dylan was truly terrified, so much so that even his hands holding Audrey were trembling.
He murmured “baby” in her ear again and again, afraid that she would turn around and leave him behind again.
Dylan and Audrey were the only ones in the car. At some point, the driver had already pulled up and was guarding at a spot that was a short distance away.
Audrey said nothing, so Dylan slightly tightened his grip on her.
“Baby, don’t hate me. Don’t be angry, and don’t… ignore me. Pleasel” His inner torment was like a thorn that slowly pierced through his flesh and into the bone.
“Let’s go eat,” Audrey said coldly after a while. Her voice was still cold.
“Eat with me, okay?”
Dylan was unwilling to let go of Audrey’s hand. He nuzzled his head against Audrey’s slender and flawless neck, looking affectionate and intimate.
3:15 PM c d
His deep and magnetic voice carried a hint of caution.
“Okay.” Audrey pursed her lips indifferently.
Dylan’s eyes lit up. He gently placed a deeply affectionate and lingering kiss on the top of her head.
It was already a little late. Dylan was not picky. As long as my baby is by my side, it doesn’t matter what I eat, he though gladly endure it even if it’s street food.
In the end, Audrey chose a nearby restaurant. The driver went to park the car, and the two of them entered the restaurant.
Glancing at Dylan with a still–cold expression, Audrey said, “Choose your own food. Don’t worry about me. I’ve already eaten.
Dylan ordered a few dishes. They were basically Audrey’s favorites. He even ordered a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice for her.
Audrey frowned slightly.
“I know you’ve eaten. Eat a little with me, okay?” Dylan looked at Audrey, his dark eyes gentle and almost intoxicating.
Audrey gave him an indifferent glance, saying nothing.
Dylan took it that she had tacitly agreed. His initial fear and lingering worry after getting told off by Audrey cased a little at this moment.
During the meal, Dylan received a phone call.
He took a glance and immediately declined the call, not wanting to answer.
The next moment, the call came in again. Dylan frowned, looking a little displeased.
“What’s the matter?” he asked.
“I heard you come to ladale City. Want to come out for a drink?” A man’s frivolous laughter came from the other end of the line.
Dylan frowned slightly and rejected without hesitation. “Not going”
“I heard you come back with a woman this time. Why? Mr. Clifford, you intend to keep her hidden, huh? Bringing her out yet not letting us see her?”
“There’s no need to show her to you people,” Dylan said indifferently. He thought, “Those people aren’t worthy of meeting my baby
With that said, Dylan hung up the phone right away, ignoring the man on the other end of the line.
After the dishes were served, Dylan served each of Audrey’s favorite dishes to her, letting her have a taste.
Audrey had already eaten before. After reluctantly taking a bite, she leisurely drank the freshly squeezed orange juice.
Dylan ate quickly, worrying that Audrey would get impatient from waiting. After quickly finishing his meal, he paid the bill and left with Audrey.
Holding Audrey’s hand, he asked gently, “Do you want to go for a stroll together?”
Audrey frowned, feeling a little listless at this moment. She was unsure if it was because she got really angry earlier. There was a faint discomfort in her lower abdomen.
“Nope.
Ever since she was severely injured and gave birth to Lucas and Brian prematurely, her health had not been great.
She was bedridden for almost six months before she could get out of bed. Afterward, each menstrual period was excruciatingly painful.
Although she had been adjusting and improving her health over the past few years, the severe injuries she had in prison when she was younger had left her body significant damage. Her health was much better than before, but she still needed to slowly adjust and improve it.
Audrey was not in the mood for a stroll, so Dylan took her back to the Hernandez residence.
In the middle of the night, Audrey was woken up by waves of heavy pain in her abdomen. She was sweating profusely, and she felt a little uncomfortable. Enduring the pain, she went to the bathroom.
As expected, her period started. She reluctantly changed her clothes before getting up and walking out of the room to pour a cup of warm water.
Hearing the sound of the door of Audrey’s room opening, Dylan hurriedly walked out of the study, where the door was always left open.
“Why are you up?” he asked gently when he saw Audrey. As he got closer, he noticed that Audrey’s face was pale. Even her lips. had turned pale. His gaze tensed up. He immediately lifted Audrey into his arms and said worriedly, “Why do you look so pale!”
