Unexpectedly Married to a Billionaire (Lorraine and Logan)

Chapter 122

Chapter 122

“The missus doesn’t like to drink plain water either,” said William.

Glaring at him, Logan replied, “If Lorraine is in my office asking for a drink, I’ll definitely get a beverage for her.”

“You’re so biased, man. I’ve been working so hard for you, and you won’t even treat me to a beverage.”

Logan bluntly explained, “Lorraine’s my wife, after all. We’ll be spending our lives together. You, on the other hand, won’t be with me for a lifetime. Plain water’s all you’re getting, so you either drink it or you don’t. You’re the only person getting thirsty if you don’t drink water anyway.”

“You’re favoring your wife over your best friend,” complained William jokingly as he got up to brew himself a pot of tea.

He poured himself a cup and continued, “You came looking for me right after you returned. So, what’s the good news?

“Someone’s targeting my wife.”

William immediately spat out his tea. “Pfft-”

William started coughing heavily while Logan just watched without even help patting William on the back. He took some time to calm down before mustering a wry smile. “Who could be so stupid as to make an enemy of the missus?”

Logan just stared at William in silence.

William then continued, “Don’t look at me like that, dude. Anyone passing by who doesn’t know better might think that I’m the one targeting her. I wouldn’t dare to do such a thing.”

He had a lot of respect for Lorraine. He admired her courage to marry a stranger on impulse as well as her steadfast resolve that did not falter even in the face of a handsome man like Logan. He was also rather intrigued by the fact that Logan had yet to sleep together with Lorraine.

William put down his cup of tea and explained, “Alright, alright. I’ll help you look into it. The very moment I took on this job, I already became part of the crew, after all.”

Logan chuckled. “You can still get off the boat if you want to. Do you?”

Rubbing his nose, William let out a laugh. “So, how is the missus being targeted? Isn’t she just an orchardist?”

William’s curiosity had already gotten the better of him, and he shifted the topic.

Logan replied, “The fruits have ripened, but yet there are no fruit merchants willing to purchase her fruits. How do you think she’s supposed to sell off all her fruits, then?”

“Did someone buy out all of the missus‘ business partners?”

“It sure is easy to talk about such matters with smart people.”

William’s smile faded, replaced with a worried expression. “So, how’s the missus handling things right now? I guess you probably can’t step in for her in the matter, right? Unless you’re willing to reveal your true identity, that is.

“Honestly, I’d like to see her reaction the moment she finds out that you’re the CEO of Moore Corporation and realize that you’re from the affluent Moore family.”

Logan’s expression became stern as he replied, “Divorce.”

“Huh?”

“If Lorraine were to find out about how badly I’ve been deceiving her, she’d want a divorce.”

“Then I guess you’d better keep your true identity well hidden. Speaking of which, you’re doing quite a great job pretending to be poor.”

Logan’s mouth twitched as he thought about how Lorraine was worried about their family expenses.

He felt that he might have overdone the act of being poor, so much so that it made Lorraine call him wasteful and foolish for spending all of his savings on buying a set of jewelry

for her.

And the biggest issue of all was the fact that he had enrolled both children in the absolute best and most expensive kindergarten in all of Glendale.
