Chapter 32 Do Some Meaningful Activity
Chapter 32 Do Some Meaningful Activity
I believe you. This was such a simple and yet meaningful statement and only James was willing to
believe her! With James’s trust, Mia let go of all her guard and gently fainted in his arms.
It was that horrific scene of the accident. The mangled car, fragments, bright red bloodstains, bleeding
heads, an unconscious woman in a white dress…
Thereafter when the air started to clear, she saw that teenager waving at her, “Don’t fear, I’m here to
save you!”
“Help me!” The instinctive waving of hands was seized and held down. The man gently massaged her
palm and then pulled to one side. Whose hand was this? Was it the young man in the dream? Mia
struggled to open her eyes and James’s clean face filled her sight.
“Davies…” She wanted to sit up but James laughed and pushed her down. “Your fever has just
subsided and your injuries haven’t all recovered, don’t move unnecessarily.”
How comforting were those words! Mia was stunned, her pain was at least cut by half. She stared at
him in a daze.
A pair of lustful eyes swept over her and the clean and slender fingers flicked at the IV tube and said,
“Have a good rest, I guarantee that after this drip is complete, you’ll be able to get off the bed.”
“Yes.” She believed everything that James said just as he believed her. When she saw that James
turned and was about to leave, Mia’s heart sank and called him in desperation, “Professor Davies!”
James calmly turned around and blinked. He behaved like a big brother. He didn’t speak but tilted his
head to look at her. It appeared that he looked straight into her heart.
“That… I really didn’t contaminate my blood.” Mia swallowed her saliva several times before deciding
what to say. James nodded and walked towards her. His sincerity was transmitted through those
beautiful eyes, “Then can you tell me before the operation, who were you in contact with?”
“Nobody.” Mia searched her memories, “They were all doctors and nurses.” She concentrated and
didn’t remember seeing anyone who was out of place nor abnormal. She looked apologetically at
James.
“Okay, perhaps the problem wasn’t on your body but on the equipment. It’s alright, have some sleep
and you will feel much better. The clean hands brushed against her face and gently pulled her eyelids
down. He pressed his cheeks against hers. He stood up and walked out of the room and closed the
door.
Her cheeks blushed red and she opened her eyes and stared at the door as if James was on the other
side. Her heart was touched and she savored the sweetness. She touched where James touched her
face and giggled and blushed like a cherry blossom in spring.
William pushed open the door and saw her expression. He was frustrated and glared at Mia. He
ordered, “Take her back!”
Her heart sank. The beautiful event was shattered. When she saw William, Mia’s face turned pale. She
felt as if she fell from heaven straight to hell.
The men began to push her metal bed, Mia sat up and objected, “William, I want to stay here!”
“You want to stay here so that you can conduct your scheme again right?” All the evil deeds and blame
were shifted onto her, “My Sophia cannot afford any more complications. I want to watch over you
personally to stop your evil ways!”
Mia cannot bear others accusing her and she instinctively defended her innocence, “It’s not me, I didn’t
do anything to her! All this happened because of karma. It’s your retribution for being cruel and
heartless. You should be aware now, once you’ve sinned, the retribution will not only be on you but also
on your family members.”
“You’re asking… for it!” he dived towards her and his fist tightened…
She was so scared that she closed her eyes but the expected pain didn’t materialize. She carefully
opened her eyes and saw that William had withdrawn his hand. He mumbles, “I’ll let you keep your life
for now. If my Sophia recovers, then you’ll be all right. If she doesn’t, you, your friend, Collin, and his
entire family fortunes will all be gone.”
“I am not involved with Collin. You can’t harm someone innocent!” She couldn’t endure and said. She
was desperate to cut off all ties. William was ruthless, “They live or die all depends on your
performance!”
They returned to the Brown residences. To others, this was heaven but to her it was hell. This time
there was no one to restrict her movement. She could walk around as she wished. She could also walk
out of that place and never look back. But there was an imaginary lock and chains around her. She
didn’t dare to step outside.
Brooke, Collin and his family fortunes were in her hands. She cannot be so selfish not to consider their
well being.
Sophia’s body took a turn for the worse when she received the contaminated blood. She needs to
recuperate for a period of time before she could recover.
This period of time William practically didn’t go home. He must have been taking care of Sophia.
The time passed quickly without William around. Although the caretaker and the servants were cold
toward her, they were still polite and do as they were told.
When seated at the viewing deck, you could have a bird’s eye view of the Brown residences. It was a
large expense crisscrossed with small roads. Various colorful plants dotted the landscape and there
were man-made hills, waterfalls, and a vegetable garden.
Below the viewing deck was a clear swimming pool. The waves of light were blinking, enticing her to
walk towards them. She came to the poolside and the pool was clean with a recent change of water. It
reflected her clean and beautiful complexion.
She cupped a handful of water and splashed it onto her face. It was refreshing! She playfully kicked off
her shoes, sat at the edge of the pool, and dipped her feet in, splashing the water happily. Her recent
worries were temporary swept away.
She wanted so much to take a swim. She had taken swimming lessons and though she wasn’t a strong
swimmer, it should be sufficient for this pool. The pool was surrounded by glass and some plants.
Every day she would sit at the viewing deck daydreaming. She knows that apart from the servant
cleaning the pool in the morning, there wouldn’t be anyone else. Therefore, she could take a swim and
not affect anyone.
As she thought, she removed her outer clothing and only a tiny chemise remained. She jumped in and
she was like a fish getting back its freedom in the wide ocean. Mia forgot about all the unhappiness and
swam.
Outside the main door, a black Maserati blared its horn and Rebecca hurried over to open the gates
and led the servants to welcome the guest.
John jumped out of the car and quickly opened the aft side door. A pair of slender legs stretched out
followed by the well-fitted business suit and then the expressionless face of William.
The servants all bowed forward forty-five degrees and said, “Welcome home, Master.” William didn’t
stop and walked towards the house. He instructed, “There must be someone around the clock
attending to Missus. Call me immediately if something happens.”
“Yes.” John stopped at the ground floor. His eyes followed William until he disappears upstairs. He
removed his jacket and loosened his tie. William frowned in discomfort. He spent five days with Sophia
and was tired. He walked to the wine cabinet and poured himself a glass of wine. He drank as he
walked to the viewing deck.
The viewing deck was a late addition because Sophia loved to draw and over here you could see the
entire scenery of the Brown residences. He frowned when he thought of Sophia. As he looked down at
the swimming pool, an image of a body dived into the pool.
Light as the wind, flexible as the snake, the body slithers through the water. In the lighted green pool,
the scene was mesmerizing and he looked on captivated.
Who was she?
He couldn’t resist and started to walk as if he was under a spell. He opened the door and stood looking
at the pool.
Mia didn’t notice this intruder and continued to swim for another two rounds. She casually swam and
the chemise clung on tightly onto her body. Each time she rises for a breath her cleavage could be
seen and from William’s point of view, it was an enticing sight.
She was done and tired. Mia got out of the pool and her tight white shorts became partially translucent
and her pink panties could be clearly seen. It was alluring to anyone who saw it.
With a flick of her hair, she turned and prepared to leave. She was stunned when she saw the person
at the door and stood in position. Her face flushed as she started to fluster. Why… why was he back?
She faced a nightmarish man and shuddered, there was only one thought in her mind which was: Flee!
She was like a panicked fly, darting across the place looking for a place to escape. William was still
holding onto the glass of wine looking calmly and patiently.
Mia used all her strength to pull onto a door, a voice came from behind her, “The door’s locked. Can’t
you see?” Only then did she see an additional huge lock on the door. Her escape route was blocked
and William was behind her. She had no choice but to face William.
William finished the wine and poured another glass. Without looking, he tossed the bottle into the bin.
He wasn’t laughing nor was he angry. He just looked intently at her walking towards him. His back was
gradually tightening up. The past unhappiness started to well up. Mia was so frightened that her lips
started to quiver.
“You are very cold.” He observed, it was a neutral comment. She was indeed cold, she didn’t feel it
when she was in the water but now that she was out and the wind was blowing, she was freezing. But
compared to the chilling wind, this man’s stare was even colder.
She blinked and pursed her lips and stared at him with her innocent eyes. Hated that look it was like a
pitiful bunny seeking love and yet it pierced right into his heart. William closed his eyes and shook his
head and shook away Sophia’s image. He told himself that this woman only resembled Sophia but was
not even a tenth of her!
A woman who always looked for a man to depend on should never be pitied.
He stretched out his hands towards her chest and said coldly, “Since you’re cold, let’s do something
interesting to warm up the body.”
