Passion 61
Yvette assumed he remembered this place and was going to use it to force her to admit that she hadn't lost her memory. But he didn't.
Xavier gripped the steering wheel tightly and asked lowly, "What happened to that baby, Yvette?"
When Tristan had given him her medical records, he remembered that they had stated that she was already two weeks pregnant. He had never asked because he had wanted Yvette to bring it up on her
own.
Her pupils narrowed into slits when she heard the word "baby". "What baby? What are you talking
about?"
He stopped the car and looked at her, feeling unusually depressed. "I know you were pregnant at the time." He gazed at her intently, as if he wanted to see right through her.
Yvette was afraid that he had already discovered Zachary. Even though she had prepared herself, she still trembled in fear in front of him, afraid he would take Zachary and Noah away from her.
Forcing herself to calm down, she responded, "All I remember is the attending physician telling me I had a miscarriage."
His heart sank to the bottom of his stomach. He should've known that the baby was gone. If the baby were alive, Yvette wouldn't have returned on her own.
The men he had sent to tail her hadn't seen any signs of a child all this time. Moreover, she had been so weak at the time; how could she have possibly given birth to a child?
Xavier felt a lump form in his throat, and he couldn't bring himself to utter another word for a long while
Yvette felt particularly uneasy on the way back. As soon as she got home, she called Claude. Soon, her call was answered, and a man's magnetic voice came through. "What's wrong. Yvette?" Claude was well aware that Yvette wouldn't have called him unless something was wrong.
"Xavier found me and asked me about the baby just now. He knows I was pregnant before," she confessed.
Moments later, he comforted her, saying, "Don't worry, I've had Zachary's and Noah's dates of birth changed."
"T-That's good to know." Yvette realized she had panicked for a moment.
"Don't worry, as long as I'm here, no one can take Noah and Zachary away from you."
Thousands of miles away, Claude was standing on the top floor of a coastal skyscraper. Behind him, In a large conference room, a group of executives were waiting for him to finish his phone call and resume the meeting.
Claude reluctantly hung up the phone and told his assistant, "Keep a close Xavier's men find him."
von Noah. Don't let
Recently, he had noticed that someone had been looking into Yvette's past. He hadn't expected Xavier's influence to reach all the way here. He hadn't told Yvette for fear of worrying her.
That night, Yvette had a nightmare in which Xavier found both of her children. He not only didn't want them, but he also wanted them to perish.
Yvette woke up with a start, and her forehead was covered in a sheen of sweat. She still remembered Shannon urging her and Xavier to have a baby as soon as possible, right after they had gotten married. And Xavier had told her, "First of all, I won't even touch you. But if I do, and by some miracle you did get pregnant, I wouldn't allow that baby to see the light of day!"
Yvette was wide awake. It seemed like she needed to act quickly.
The next day, Yvette wore clothes that accentuated her figure and put on light makeup. As she was about to leave the house, she slipped the equipment for sperm collection into her bag, just in case.
