Passion 106
Malcolm's disdain for Daphne likely stemmed from his mother constantly telling him that Daphne wanted to have Xavier's child and compete for the future head position of the Lane family.
Zachary put down his book and looked over with his beautiful eyes. "What's the plan?"
At that question, the two other boys looked at each other, wide-eyed.
Malcolm moved closer to Zachary, pouting slightly. Zac, what do you think we should do?"
Zachary knew they didn't have any plans at all. However, he had already thought of one.
He leaned in and shared his plan with the two boys, who listened intently, getting more excited by the
minute.
Just then, a little girl came over to the trio. "Zac, what are you guys talking about?"
Malcolm gently pushed her aside. "Go away. Don't disturb us men when we're talking business."
The little girl pouted, almost on the verge of tears.
Meanwhile, a minivan drove down the road.
Daphne had just finished touching up her makeup when her assistant, Laura Winters, remarked," Daph, it's just a kid. Couldn't we have sent a helper to pick him up?"
Daphne shot Laura a You know nothing. He's not just any child; he's the eldest great-grandson

of the Lane family. Do you think just anyone can pick him up?"
After the embarrassing incident at the birthday banquet, Clifford had been particularly dismissive of
Daphne.
Malcolm, however, was Clifford's little treasure. Daphne hoped to win back Clifford's favor by pleasing
Malcolm.
Daphne unconsciously rested her hand on her lower abdomen. She wondered when she would be able to conceive Xavier's child. If she got pregnant with Xavier's baby, she would have the freedom to do as she pleased.
Her phone rang with a call just then. Glancing at the phone in her hand, Daphne answered it and quietly hissed, "Did I not tell you not to call me anymore?"
"Daph, please come back to me. I miss you so much. I can't live without you," the man on the other end pleaded. "I know you and Xavier aren't married yet. It's been years; he won't marry you."
Daphne clenched her phone tightly. "If you really cared about me, you'd want me to be happy, wouldn't you? Don't ever call me again."
She was afraid that someone might overhear, so she hurriedly ended the call, In doing so, she missed. the man's last words-he had said that he was coming to Tirion soon.
Upon seeing the curious look on Laura's face, Daphne lied without hesitation. "It's just a fan."
When Daphne finally arrived at the kindergarten's entrance, she adjusted her mask and sunglasses, preparing to pick up Malcolm.
She attracted a lot of attention from onlookers as she stepped out of the car. Unbothered, she stood at the entrance, waiting for Malcolm to come out.
However, Malcolm didn't show up, even after she had waited for a long time. Instead, a sturdy little boy approached her.
"Are you Ms. Reyes? Malcolm is still in the restroom. He asked me to tell you to wait for him in the classroom," Darren informed her. He played the role of a polite child convincingly. Daphne was amused by him. "Alright," she replied before heading toward the classroom with a look of anticipation. She completely missed the mischievous grin on Darren's face.
Meanwhile, Yvette and Kiki arrived at the kindergarten to pick up Zachary. Upon reaching the entrance, they noticed a large crowd and several people taking pictures with their phones. "What's going on?" Kiki wondered aloud. "Yvvy, wait in the car. I'll go get Zac."
"Sure." As a precaution, Yvette always stayed in the car when they went to pick up Zachary.
When Kiki stepped out of the car and wove through the crowd, she picked up the murmurs of the people around her.
