Through The Eyes Of My Alpha Chapter 43
Chapter 43
Through the eyes of my alpha Chapter 43
RILEY. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face as I waited for Nadia to get ready. I was already at the front of the pack house and was leaving instructions for my Beta since he wouldn’t be coming with me today. I’d bring two warriors with me to convoy with us for extra protection, not for me but for my mate. I knew I could protect her if anything happened, but I would never take any risk, so I needed extra men with me.
I smelled Nadia approaching.
I turned around and saw her with two apples in her hands.
” Breakfast.
” I just smiled at her.
We could just grab breakfast along the way.
“I’m ready.
” She smiled as she stopped beside me, acknowledging my Beta after he paid respect to her.
“Good.
Shall we?
” I placed a hand on her back, hoping she wouldn’t move away from it as I guided her towards the car.
Thankfully, she didn’t.
“Is the Beta not coming with us?
” She asked after she buckled her seatbelt, her eyes looking at Beta Dominic, who was still standing by the steps as I maneuvered the car out of the pack house grounds.
“No.
But we have two warriors coming with us.
They’re on the next car.
” “I thought, the Beta always comes with the Alpha wherever he goes.
” “Hmmm… Not in my case.
Dominic has other things to do than follow me around, and the only time I would take him with me is if I needed a second in command.
” “Such as?
” “Attending boring meetings.
I let him sit beside me, and he took all the information while I dozed off.
” She giggled, and it made my heart leap out of my chest.
“You’re joking, right?
” “No.
I have a talent for sleeping without anyone finding out I’m already asleep.
Or pretending to sleep when I’m not.
” “Haha!
” she laughed sarcastically.
“You want proof?
” “What will you do?
” “Nothing.
I am just going to give an example.
” “Okay…” “This morning, you thought I was asleep when you woke up.
But I wasn’t…” Her eyes rounded as a red tint slowly crept up her cheeks.
“Stop lying.
You were sleeping, your chest rising and falling in perfect rhythm.
” “I told you I was good at it.
” “No.
Stop lying, “she giggled, a forced one, but her face was turning too red now.
I should stop before she gets pissed off, but I wanted to push a little more.
“But maybe I was just dreaming, and wanting it to be real.
I thought you kissed me on the nose.
But that might be just a dream.
” I told her, in a serious tone, while my gaze was fixed in front of me, on the road, but I was watching her on my side peripherals.
She swallowed before she sank into her seat.
“Definitely a dream.
Keep dreaming, Riley.
” “Probably, that’s all I can do for now.
Just dream.
” “Hmmm.
” “Nadia.
.
” “Hmmm…” She hummed her response, and I mustered all my courage to finally start talking about the things between us.
“I’m sorry about keeping things about me and about Andrea.
I want to show you I’m not a bad person before I confess everything.
I was just scared you would leave the moment you found out what I did to her.
I was not proud of it.
” Silence, It was deafening.
My grip tightened on the steering wheel.
My emotions were all over the place.
I wanted to say more, but I wasn’t sure if she was willing to hear more.
“Nadia… Talk to me.
Just say something…” “Something…” She said it in a soft voice, and my brows hiked up.
What the f**k was that?
I tilted my head to look at her and caught her looking at me, a smile playing on her lips before she started giggling.
And my heart fluttered at the sight in front of me.
“Eyes on the road, Alpha.
” She exclaimed, her hand reaching for my cheek as she turned it to face the road.
“Am I forgiven already?
” I asked, my lips pursing into a thin line before I bit the lower one.
I wanted to smile, but I wasn’t sure if it was appropriate even if she was smiling.
“No.
Not yet… But we can start moving on from it.
But…” “But?
” “I want answers when I ask questions.
” “Sounds fair.
” I almost smiled, but I kept restraining myself.
“And…” “And?
” I asked, my brows furrowing, scared again of whatever she would say.
“And… I miss you.
” I hit the brake hard without a warning as soon as the three words left her mouth and our bodies jolted forward.
My arm automatically rose to stop her body, but it was already restrained by her seatbelt.
“What was that?
” Her eyes rounded as she stared at me.
Fear was evident in her eyes.
I rested my forearm on the steering wheel before tilting my head to look at her, not knowing how to explain to her that her words caught me off guard.
F**k!
This was going bad.
I was losing control when it came to her.
“Are you okay?
” I asked her.
“Yes.
Are you okay?
” She asked me back.
I nodded my head before my hand ejected her seat belt and my arm coiled around her waist.
” Come here.
” She didn’t question me, instead she just let her body go where I was taking her as I sat her on my lap, straddling me.
“Riley, we’ll be late for your meeting.
” She was biting her lower lip, her hands on my shoulders, keeping a distance between our bodies.
“I know.
” I smiled at her, my eyes taking in the beauty in front of me.
I really did miss her.
“I missed you so much, it hurts here.
” I told her, my hand tapping my chest where my heart was.
She smiled weakly, her eyes pooling with tears, but she was stopping them from falling.
“It hurts too… It made me feel like I didn’t deserve to know the truth.
” “No, Nadia.
Not like that.
I just wasn’t ready to let you see that part of me.
I didn’t want to scare you away.
” “I’m still scared.
” “I’m sorry…” I cupped her cheeks, my eyes boring deep into hers, hoping she could see the sincerity in them.
“I will make it up to you.
You don’t have any reason to be scared of me.
I’m not going to that place again.
” We arrived at the western territory, where all the leaders and governing bodies of the whole territory were assembled.
Riley told me on our way here that this meeting happened twice a year where he would get reports from everyone about the highs and lows of their own area, including new proposals for future projects and security issues.
We arrived at the exact time, but it took a few minutes before we were able to enter the conference room.
We were met along the way by someone Riley called Elder Maurius, and he led us to the waiting room, which I assumed was just beside the conference room.
“It is a pleasure to have you here, Luna Nadia.
” Elder Maurius greeted me after he paid his respects to Riley.
“Same here, Elder Maurius.
I apologize, we came in late.
Something came up along the way.
” I smiled at him, and I was glad that Riley was just allowing me to talk and was just listening.
“No need to apologize, we know there are many things the Alpha needs to attend to.
We are just happy that he was able to take you with him.
We’ve been waiting to finally meet you personally.
” I just smiled at him, and I felt my cheeks starting to turn red.
This would be my first official appearance as a Luna.
Riley’s arm was wrapped around my waist as he talked to Elder Maurius.
“Why are we not entering the conference room yet?
” Riley asked him.
“Oh yes, I almost forgot to tell you.
I was distracted by Luna Nadia’s presence.
We just needed a few minutes to adjust and fix a seat for the Luna.
We were not aware that she was coming and didn’t have a seat for her.
” Riley nodded his head before he smiled c*y.
“You shouldn’t have worried.
My Luna can sit on my lap.
” My eyes widened as I snapped my head to look back at him.
He still had that c***y smile on his face, and I didn’t know how to react to that.
Elder Maurius laughed heartily, making me let out a sigh of relief.
“Of course, that would be the best option, but I think they already fixed a chair for the Luna.
But you’re welcome to do whatever you want, Alpha.
” Oh, Goddess!
‘Don’t you dare!
’ I warned Riley through our mindlink, and he just gave me a wink.
Elder Marius gestured with his hand, leading us to the conference room.
Riley was walking beside me, his hand on my back, giving me the support I needed because this was the first time that I would be facing a crowd of distinguished people.
‘Relax, I’m here.
And you’re the Luna, you’re above everyone here.
I didn’t reply, but it was enough to calm my heart from thudding too loudly.
But the moment we stepped inside the conference room, my eyes zeroed in on one person sitting almost at the back of the conference room, and I felt the color drain from my face.
Thank you for waiting!
Updates for this book will be around 8-10PM Stockholm Time which is 1-3PM CDT/CST until further notice.
Thank you for all your comments, reviews, and gems.
They are our greatest motivation to keep going, so please don’t forget to drop us some.
For those who have read Loving The Gamma, I updated/changed the Prologue.
I used the scene where Janna was attacked by a rogue wolf.
If you have time, please do check it out and let me know if it works better than the previous prologue (which was their first meeting).
Feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you again!
