Chapter 1033
Chapter 1033:
Caden acknowledged with a nod. “Fair point. But last night, I was left with no alternative, given my wife has been keeping her distance.”
Alicia suggested, “Perhaps you should reflect on your actions. Acknowledge your mistakes, and maybe she’ll come around.”
“What if I believe I haven’t made any mistakes?” Caden’s insistence left Alicia momentarily speechless, and he continued, “I won’t tolerate Alicia’s abnormalities.”
Alicia found herself at a loss for words. So be it. She quietly returned to the bedroom.
Caden watched her leave, wondering if he had pushed too far. Though their exchanges were often sharp, her demeanor this time didn’t seem playful.
Reflecting on his actions, Caden began to question himself.
Shortly after, Alicia reappeared wearing a black dress, revealing her slender ankles. It was gently captivating, her waist perfectly cinched, enhancing her allure in a way that drew attention.
Caden found himself captivated by her appearance. Alicia grabbed her bag and moved toward the door.
Caden shook himself out of his daze and asked, “Where are you headed?”
As Alicia switched her shoes, she answered casually, “I’ve got a client in Warrington who needs to discuss some work.”
Something about that wasn’t right. They had promised not to mix work with their honeymoon. And why would a client need her now, of all times? Restless, Caden stood up to follow her.
Alicia was slipping into a pair of flats, bending over to adjust them.
Caden observed her intently. “Is there really a client?”
Seated and not meeting his gaze, Alicia responded, “Why would I lie?”
Caden sensed the untruth but chose not to call her out. “When will you be back?”
“I’m not coming back tonight. I’ll have dinner out,” Alicia replied plainly.
“Oh.”
Their silent confrontations had become routine.
Caden continued, “I’ll come get you after dinner.”
Alicia laughed lightly. “With how annoyed you are with me? Wouldn’t that just irritate you more?”
Caden replied earnestly, “Even if we’re at odds, I need to make sure you’re safe.”
“There’s no need. The client will drop me off.”noveldrama
Caden’s brow furrowed. “Is this client male or female?”
“Does it matter?” Alicia asked.
“A male might have other intentions.”
“If he’s attractive, I might not mind that,” Alicia joked.
At that, Caden was left without words.
