The True Heiress's Return

Heiress’s Return 278

Upon the release of the official announcement, the tone of online discussion rapidly shifted! Meanwhile, the village cadre received a call and was thrilled.

After hanging up, he hurried to Lonely Bird's side and bowed deeply with his hands clasped together. Everyone was confused, especially the villagers who looked to the village cadre for guidance. "Mr. Miller, what are you doing by bowing to her?"

The village cadre's eyes filled with tears, and his expression was excited. "Jessica is out of danger! It matched the diagnosis made by Lonely. Bird. The baby in her womb

was already gone, and she was in critical condition when she fainted. Fortunately, she was taken to the hospital in time! It was Dr. Lonely Bird who arranged for someone to meet them at the entrance of the mountain path, allowing the villagers to get her to the county hospital for surgery immediately!"

Shakira remained calm and said softly, "They were just passing by."

The villagers looked at each other, hesitating and embarrassed. Despite not yet knowing about the UN's announcement, even in their ignorance, they now realized that they had wronged a truly good doctor!

A young girl had traveled a long distance to their village to provide free medical services, working tirelessly without complaints. Yet, how did they behave? They falsely accused her, insulted her, and even threw rotten eggs and vegetables at her, nearly hitting her with a shovel. They were truly worse than animals!

The villagers were silent. After a while, someone finally spoke up loudly, "Mrs. Churchill is my uncle's sister-in-law, and she's not here now, so I'm apologizing on her behalf to you, Dr. Lonely Bird!"

"You're lying! How can you slander me like this?"

Confronted with everyone's staring eyes, Yvette backed away repeatedly, shaking her head and waving her hands frantically.. Whether from fear or grievance, she was almost in tears.

She said, "I didn't say any of those things. How could I harm Lonely Bird? It was Ella who was trying to frame me."

Ella glared angrily. "You wicked girl, you said it to me in the kitchen. How would a country bumpkin like me know about any documents? You couldn't bear the thought of Lonely Bird being more skilled than you. You even told me she had Matthew supporting her and that I should find someone else to spread this secret so you wouldn't get caught up in it. Your heart is too dark, using us as pawns to go after Lonely Bird!"

"Sir, if you're going to arrest someone, arrest her! I'll testify, she's the one who encouraged me to involve Mrs. Churchill!" As she heard Ella's endless chatter, Yvette was nearly driven to madness!

Felix looked grim, his gaze cold. "Yvette, is this true?"

Yvette shouted, "Felix! You trust Lonely Bird and not me?!"

Felix pressed his lips into a tight line, not answering. That was as good as admitting it!

Felix didn't help her, so Yvette instinctively looked toward the only familiar face in the crowd. However, when she looked over, she saw Paul hidden among the villagers, secretly making his way out. Damn it, even Paul betrayed her! Feeling utterly alone and unsupported, with everyone around her advancing menacingly, Yvette was on the brink of panic. Overwhelmed by fear and pressure, she couldn't stop herself from clutching her head and letting out a piercing scream. Then she suddenly turned and ran frantically. However, before she could escape that stifling place, her feet suddenly went through the ground. Yvette, along with a large section of the hillside, plummeted down in front of everyone.
