Chapter 355
Chapter 355
Chapter 355 Collaboration
“You… do you truly intend to bring down the Aylward Group?”
The woman inquired cautiously.
“Absolutely. If not for him, I wouldn’t be in this wretched state. My aim is to crush him, rendering him incapable of recovery. With our plan already halfway complete, I’ve sent his beloved daughter to prison. He will be next.”
Amelie declared confidently.
“Given your assurances, I can consider it on one condition.”
“Excellent. I knew you possessed such bravery, otherwise, she wouldn’t have served as the chief financial officer for so many years.”
“Ms. Cisneros, let’s not discuss that. With my current ability, I dare not even seek employment. I spend my days in hiding, evading his detection. At times, I consider surrendering to him, but I can’t bring myself to do it. Since you’re set on confronting him, I’m willing to collaborate. However, once this matter is resolved, I wish to leave this place.”
“That’s not a problem. I’ll help you with that, and I guarantee no one will disrupt your life.”
Amelie asserted firmly.
Upon hearing this, the woman exhaled a sigh of relief.
“Alright, Ms. Cisneros, I’ll trust your word. Here, this is what you seek. However, it contains a unique encryption method. I’ll find an opportunity to inform you of the technique, as it’s unsafe to disclose it
now. Moreover, you must remember that the Aylward Group is far from a mere business entity. There are unfathomable, shadowy revenues behind it, beyond the reach of a mere financial. officer like myself. I’m relying on my intuition to conclude that, so if you wish to uncover the truth, you’ll need to exert considerable effort.”
The woman offered a gentle reminder.
“Thank you I’ll be forever grateful.”
“It’s fine. I’ve mulled over this matter for ages. Concealing it is no longer an option. I’m too faint-hearted to approach the police or expose the Aylward Group. It’s wounded me to the core. But now that I’ve entrusted everything to you, a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Perhaps I can truly start anew. Should you have any inquiries, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter. Don’t contact me via my personal contact information. It’s for both of us.”
She was very cautious.
Amelle nodded her head in rapid succession.
“Rest assured, there’s nothing amiss here.”
With that, the two parted ways.
Amelie gingerly placed the flash drive into her bag and exited the coffee shop.
Now in possession of a ticking time bomb, she had to make haste to a secure location, open the file, and meticulously examine its contents.
She was convinced that since Ms. Lopez had caught wind of something fishy within the group, it signified that something was indeed awry. If she were to vanquish Willard, she had to strike at his company first.
It was the only way to ensure success.
Instead of hailing a taxi, she hopped onto a bus. She intended to throw others off her trail and avoid, detection.
On the bus, she whipped out her phone and promptly contacted Jeff.
The flash drive had to be delivered to Jeff so he could scrutinize it and gather all incriminating evidence before handing it over to the authorities.
It was a workday, and the bus was teeming with office workers, all of whom appeared harried and clutched their briefcases tightly.
Amelie couldn’t bear the sight.
She recalled the days when she was an artist. With the crew, she had worked tirelessly day and night. Those days were grueling, but her passion for filming kept her going, Now, she could only bid farewell to the entertainment industry.
Since joining the design studio, she had been even busier than before. Designing had taken up her mind and consumed her private life.
After what seemed like an eternity, the bus finally came to a halt.
The announcement for Amelie’s destination blared through the speaker.
She sprang up, grabbed her bag, and prepared to get off.
Just as she was about to step off the bus, she was tripped by a girl.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
The girl with ruddy cheeks apologized.
Amelie couldn’t bring herself to blame the girl. She shook her head and got off.
To her right stood the studio building.
She had invited Jeff to her studio for insurance.
As she was about to head upstairs, she caught sight of a familiar figure.
She immediately stopped in her tracks and ducked out of sight.
It was Miriam, whom she hadn’t seen for a long time.
As far as she remembered, Miriam had been sent to a detention center before she went abroad. That was why she hadn’t heard any news about Miriam in the past three years.
She had thought that Miriam would turn over a new leaf and might be still staying in the detention center. But here she was.
Did Miriam come to see her?
Amelie watched wonderingly as Miriam looked around before entering the lobby on the first floor.
No sooner had she taken a few steps than she was stopped.
“I’m here to see your boss. I know her. I’m her friend.”
“Miss, I’m sorry, but you can’t come in without an appointment.”
“But I know your boss. We used to be friends. Please let me in. I really need to speak with her.”
Miriam grew agitated, while the receptionist grew impatient.
Just as Miriam was about to continue pleading her case, Amelie stepped forward and intervened.
“You guys go on with your work.”
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Miriam swiveled her head around.
“Amelie!”
Amelie appeared perplexed.
“Miss, do know you?”
Amelie hastily feigned ignorance and made her way toward the elevator.
“Hold on! If you’re not Amelie, then who are you? You’re the spitting image of her! I’ve been looking for you!”
‘Miss, I’m afraid I’m not acquainted with the person you speak of. If you’re seeking her out, please exit and turn right. You won’t find her here.”
Amelie flashed a faint smile.
It was then that Miriam noticed a mole on her face and realized that she wasn’t Amelie after all.
She fell silent.
“Sorry, I must have mistaken you for someone else. I’m here to see Ms. Cisneros. I have some business with her. Could you take me inside?”
“What business do you have with Ms. Cisneros? As it happens, I am Ms. Cisneros.”
“You? You’re Elena who exposed Leila yesterday?”
Miriam was shocked and asked incredulously.
“Indeed, I am Elena.”
Amelie smiled and asked, “Is there anything I can help you with?”
Miriam gazed at the confident woman before her and felt a sense of unease, but she soon covered up her panic.
