Chapter 5
Katrina's POV
"Who would even dare The guard growled, turning around. His words cut off when he came face to face with Silas
"May I ask what's going on here? Silas asked coldly, his voice holling so much authority. He looked between the guard and me, his eyes not staying on me for more than a second.
"Bo-boss," The guard stuttered, fixing his belt. His fingers shook as he tried to fix his clothes, his knees wobbling.
He seemed so afraid, his face white as sheets.
With tears running down my face, I pulled the blanket over my body, covering myself.
"I believe I asked a question. Silas thundered, his voice louder than before.
Why was he asking me? Wasn't it obvious what was about to happen?
I thought to myself, my grip on the blanket tightening.
It's the slut. She tried to seduce me and-"
-Bang!
flinched when a gunshot rang out, the guard falling to the floor dead.
Blood seeped out from a bullet wound in his forehead, staining my rug.
"Get rid of the body," Silas ordered his men who immediately did as they were told.
He killed the man, but why? I thought he didn't care about me.
As if he heard my thoughts, Silas looked at me with a cold glare making me shiver.
"Do not take this as an act of kindness, or anything. I hate it when people lie to me,"
Silas' eyes held no e
emotions as he stared at me.
"So if he didn't lie, you would have let him live? 1 asked, my voice shaking
I didn't know what I was expecting from a man who repeatedly spoke about how he hated me.
Silas remained quiet as he stared down at me, his silence being an answer to my question.
He didn't care if anything happened to me and that was the truth
I tried to speak, but my words got caught in my throat, so I only nodded.
The rug in my
y room was replaced with new ones, and every y trace of blood was wiped clean.
I watched the cleaners as they mopped the floor, my knees pulled to my chest.
"Boss requests
sts for you to eat in the dining room with us," One of Silas men said from the door, and I raised my at him
"I'm not hungry," I said stubbornly, refusing to move.
eyes to look
I knew it was against the rules of something to refuse the Don's quest, but I wasn't in the mood to eat.
I had thrown up everything I had eaten earlier, my stomach unable to handle food at that moment.
And I had seen the looks they all gave
ve me; going down there would be the dumbest decision I have ever
I think you're forgetting something." The guard started, walking into the room.
My eyes followed him as he closed the distance between us, my heart racing in my chest.
Ibraced myself for a slap, clenching my hands tiglutly
ever made.
"When you're given an order, you follow it. The guard said harshly, grabbing me by my arm and pulling me off the bed.
His actions surprised me and I lost my halance, falling on my ass
Pushing myself to my feet. I followed behind him quietly to the dining hall.
The loud voices of men and women laughing boomed through the door, and for what seemed to be the umpteenth time in my life. I felt nervous.
I had already established the fact that these people were hostile to me because of who my father was
And expecting me to
o go and get with them was just like asking a lamb to eat beside a lion.
I'm the lamb by the way
I sucked in a breath then the door was pushed open, walking into the dining room with the guard behind me.
The room fell into a pin-drop silence, everyone turning to look at me.
I could see the hostility in their eyes, their lips turned into an unwelcoming frown.
I swallowed thickly, the pressure from their stares making it hard for me to step further.
They didn't even bother to hide the fact that they didn't want me here.
"Maybe I should just go I started, turning around to run back the same way I come
"I don't remember asking you to leave," Silas said from behind me and I stopped in my tracks.
Slowly, 1 turned around to look at him, my heart beating wildly in my chest.
Silas sat at the end of the table, the rest of the men surrounding him. There was an empty seat right next to him, a seat I know that was meant for me.
What does he want to do? He knows just how much I was hated, and yet he orders me to eat with them.
I choked on the words in my throat, the piercing gazes of the men and women digging into my skin.
But how do I tell them that I wasn't my father?
The people they all hated were my father and me. Transferring hatred from father to daughter was a foolish thing to do.
The guy behind me nudged my back with his gun, and so I started to walk.
Slowly and carefully to avoid tripping on my feet and making a fool out of myself, I walked towards Silas.
I was just about to sit on the empty chair next to him when it was pulled away, making me fall to the floor.

The entire table erupted into loud laughter when feried out in pain, my wrist hurting.
"Who told you to sit? Silas asked, looking down at me on the floor.
He made me move to help nie up, and neither did anyone else.
1 bit into the inside of my cheeks as my anger boiled, my fingers gripping my clothes tightly.
"You'd be eating on the floor, right where you belong." The corners of his lips pulled into a smirk as he stared at me, his grey
glinting sardonically.
