The Love Book

Chapter 1 No

It was late at night.

Phoebe Barnes had just finished her shower. Her slender fingers laced up her silk underwear, gathered it up and walked over to the bed, picking up the phone on the nightstand and flipping through it.

Zero Hour.

Kemp Ross he, I don’t think, is coming back, right?

She lay down flat and closed her eyes, her fingertips gently rubbing the location of her belly, there is joy and excitement, but also uncertainty.

The words of the doctor during the day came to mind –

“The test report is out, the baby is not yet 2 months old, the fetal image is not stable enough, do you plan to keep it or abort it?”

She didn’t dare to give the doctor a too sure answer because, well, she wasn’t too sure.

Although she was looking forward to it, that joy of being a first-time mother.

It was her first child, a good seed that she had been married to Kemp Ross for over a year.

It is also the only bond between the two of them, apart from the marriage certificate.

The bedroom was lit with a dim sleep light, and Phoebe Barnes was in a daze when she heard the door open from the foyer.

A few moments later, a tall figure overlapped up.

The man’s fingertips were cold and drew her gradually awake.

“K…” she sensed that there was a hint of something wrong, just before the words were finished, they were all sealed in his mouth.

Kemp Ross’s kiss, not quite overbearing, just like his whole person, was icy cold, with a hint of mint.

Phoebe Barnes only felt a chill run through her body and she raised her hand in alarm to stop him, “Kemp … no!”

The doctor said she had only just found out she was pregnant and couldn’t … for the first three months

Kemp Ross’s movements stopped.

In the darkness of the night, the man stared at her inky black ink eyes deep and bottomless, surging with waves of unknown meaning.

“What’s wrong?” His voice sounded a little dark and a little disgruntled.

Any man, I’m afraid, does not like to be called off in the middle of the day.

What’s more, he’s Kemp Ross, the eldest son of the Ross family, the city’s most eager woman to befriend and curry favor with the diamond king.

Phoebe Barnes did not dare to tell Kemp Ross about her pregnancy, and could only swallow her saliva before lying softly, “I … I felt sick today and went to the hospital for a checkup … ”

In the silent air, only the sound of each other’s breathing could be heard.

Phoebe Barnes was too nervous to even look Kemp Ross in the eye, but she knew he was waiting for her to say something later.

She stammered, “The doctor said I have a slight gynecological condition, and it’s best not to … don’t lately, that what …”

Kemp Ross knows what ‘that what’ means even if it is not explicitly stated.

His deep cold eyes hovered over her unnatural face, as if he was gauging the truth or falsity of her statement.

And Phoebe Barnes knows very well that Kemp Ross is not a person who can be fooled, and sooner or later her visit to the hospital for a gynecological examination will be known to him, so she might as well put her plan into action …

Referring to ‘pregnancy’ as a ‘gynecological condition’.

Kemp Ross, who has a high degree of cleanliness, is always unlikely to be in this situation with her …

“Sorry …” Phoebe Barnes pursed her lips and muffled her response.

Kemp Ross was silent for a moment, did not answer, just stared at her, half a long time, his heavy body suddenly rolled down, like a cheetah on the prairie is galloping lost wild.

With a ‘snap’, he turned off the lamp on the bedside table, then smoothly covered her with the bedding, two words like a command.

“Sleep!”
