Would you detest your helper?
Christine.
After he left for work, I felt this sudden emptiness and loneliness overwhelmed me.
There was this sweet humorous side of him that I got to see anytime we stayed close. He spilled and poured the coffee ten times over until he got it right, giving me a taste of it and I nodded in satisfaction.
He had to take care of some important things alone and I totally pushed him off to work even though my heart and body wanted him to stay.
“Is that a smile on your face or am I seeing things wrongly? ” Laurel’s sweet face appeared from nowhere and I grinned at her giving her a bear hug.
I’ve totally missed her.
“You’re seeing things wrongly girl.”
“I don’t think so, you’re actually glowing, what’s the secret?”
“The secret is I’m trying to be happy, is that a bad thing now Laurel?”
“Of course not, it’s better than cursing and yelling at me that Fanuel is an ass as if I made him that way.” I chuckled at my friend as she mimicked me.
We both made our way to the room and she jumped on the bed grinning.
“Where’s your husband?”
“He’s off to work.”
“Hey!! I see that smile right there.”
“Laurel please…. stop teasing, it’s contagious.”
“No bitch, what’s contagious is you blushing anytime I mention the word ‘Husband’ you should be sneering as usual.”
I sigh in frustration and facepalm myself.
“How’s Jayden?” It was her turn to blush silly.
“He’s sexy.” I rolled my eyes at her.
“I didn’t ask you to describe him as a dummy.”
“But that’s how he is, dummy, you know what? I’m heading over to the kitchen to grab something for us to eat..” She paused and stared at me with a sorry face. “I have something important to tell you.”
“Okay, but I’m not hungry. I already had something.”
“That fast? Were you starving throughout the night that you couldn’t even wait till 8:00”
“Fanuel made it.” I blurted out and slap myself after realizing I just sold myself out.
“Holy fuck!! It was a mistake right?” Laurel screamed I’m disbelief and came closer to me holding my shoulders.
“Are you for real right now or is this one of your sarcastic tales?”
“It’s one of my sarcastic tale, forget I ever said that okay?”
“Oh my jeez!! Christine, he actually made you breakfast!! Please pinch me for sure.”
I pinched her hard and she winced.
“That was hard.”
The loud alarm door bell could be heard and we both whipped our attention to the noise.
“Don’t tell me he misses you already, I just want alone time with my friend”
I smiled in anticipation as I hoped it was Fanuel but my smile faded immediately.
“Fanuel would never ring the doorbell!”
We both walked to the large exquisite living room at once, while moving to the door and punched in the password before it slid open making me choke in disgust at the person standing before the door.
My stomach rumbled at her sight and I wanted to slam the door back to her face.
Mirabel.
She pushed me aside and walked majestically inside dragging her beautiful pink box and gasping at the interior decor and SkyView roof.
She took off her sunglasses and twirl around in sheer happiness.
“My baby has a huge taste in everything.”
I rolled my eyes hard and felt my throat burning.
I want to drag her hair out alongside her box and beat her to pulp.
“Hey bitch face, it’s so devastating to see you!”
“The pleasure is all mine.”
I said sarcastically and my voice was surprisingly calm.
I was composed though my heart was stabbed. I had expected this but I never thought that it would be so soon.
“I’m going to be officially married to Fanuel soon so why not do the pleasure of kicking yourself out. Your useless tenure is over.”
Laurel looked pissed and wanted to talk back at her but I waved my hand off to stop her.
The least thing I want to do right now is talking back and causing a fight because of Fanuel.
“I’m the official married lady here in case you’ve forgotten, until then shove your words down your throat and respect yourself”
“You’re just as useless as your words.” She says, throwing a spiteful glare at me and looking around with her fingers.
I wouldn’t deny the fact that she was beautiful, with a tall slender body and curvy hips.
She was wearing a knee length sequin gown with an off shoulder cut that showed out her creamy skin. She was classy and glowing and totally Fanuel’s type.
I felt so bad that I wanted to cry, this shouldn’t be happening to me.
I should be happy that I would soon be free from this charade called marriage but I feel awful.
“I would take that room.” She blurted out and moved towards my room.
“Don’t you dare!! That’s mine.”
“Nothing’s yours in this mansion riff raff, you’re nothing but a poor stench occupying space and filling up a title..”
“Are you done?” I asked, not getting affected by her words.
“I shouldn’t talk much until Fanuel is back!! Then you will see who wields more authority.”
She slammed at me and I ignored her, there was no time to argue. I’m already too weak to banter words with her.
“That’s Fanuel’s room Christine!” Laurel gasped but I nodded.
“Let her be, except she knows the password to his door.”
We watched her punch the pass keys and the door clicked open.
Of course, she’s going to have access since he was her ex.
I fight back the tears that threaten to sheen my eyes and look for water to drink.
The only thing that kept echoing in my head was how useless I am and how I can’t do anything to help Fanuel and his company.
How my dad robbed him and placed him in a dilemma.
Mirabel’s perfect for him and there was no lie in that.
I just felt so bad, so angry that she was going to be all over Fanuel when I was getting attached to him.
I went to my room and Laurel followed suit.
“What the hell?”
“It’s Mirabel, the president’s daughter, not hell.”
“I know that quite right, why is she here?”
“To marry Fanuel, happy now?”
“Christine, can you just stop and tell me what is happening?”
I sighed at my friend’s curiosity and explained everything in detail to her.
“This is not sounding good Christine, Fanuel detest her.”
“Would you detest your helper?”
“That’s not what I mean but Mirabel staying here won’t make any changes if Fanuel already likes you.”
“What did you want to tell me?” I ask boredly, already tired of her attempt to comfort me. The deed is done, Mirabel’s there and there’s no going back.
“It’s about Diana.”
I stare at her in confusion.
