Chapter 472
The Stars in His Heart!
The chilly night seemed to seep into Stirling's gaze as he looked at Yasbel standing beside him.
"Besides, I wouldn't want Noella to be the one protecting me when danger strikes. I'm the older brother; it's my job to look out for my siblings." Even though his siblings were terrifyingly strong!
A shiver ran down Yasbel's spine.
"You... just be safe."
"Don't worry, there's still some time. You don't have to worry about me; I'll make it back alive!"
Yasbel scoffed, "Worry about you? In your dreams."
It was as if Yasbel had heard some bizarre ghost story, prompting her to quickly make her escape, running as if the wind was at her heels. Finally back in their RV, Yasbel pulled out her phone and began searching through all the projects under the Polaris Star banner.
"Bro, what if we start a project in the Sahara Desert?"
"We have a desert right by our base, why trek all the way to the Sahara?"
It's not like the African desert is any hotter, right?
Yasbel, undeterred, insisted, "No, I want to start a project there, and I'll be in charge!"
Nolan looked at Yasbel with a furrowed brow, "Are you insane? Go talk to the boss if you're so set on it, and stop ranting here. You're just bored." Why go to the Sahara of all places!
"You don't get it! I've found something amazing, and I can't rest easy unless I'm there to see it through. Besides, what if he runs into trouble..."
The Sahara Desert was too dangerous. Starting a new project was just an excuse; her real motive was her own secret desire!
...
Imperial City.
The darkness was imprable in the suburbs; even the high-performance car struggled on the uneven road, not daring to stop.
"Boss, the border is just ahead. Once we're across, we're safe!"
Looking at the roadblock ahead, the old man in the passenger seat had a grim expression!
He couldn't believe that Noella's only goal was to drive him out, to turn him into a fugitive.
But even so, he was confident in making a comeback!
"Damn, to push me to this extent, that girl really has some tricks up her sleeve."
He was practically grinding his dentures in frustration!
Pulling a handgun from under the seat, Tavian decisively took out the driver and took the wheel, steering the car in a different direction.
He trusted no one but himself!
Only by completely controlling his escape route did Tavian believe he wasn't headed straight to hell.
After driving a few miles, a clear laugh suddenly rang out ahead.
"That driver was your nephew, wasn't he? So ruthless, even to your own family. You truly live up to the name '7-Slayer.""
Tavian's whole body jolted as if electrocuted, staring in disbelief at the scene before him!
A dozen cars turned on their headlights, blocking his path.
Perched on the hood of the lead car, Noella sat with her legs crossed, looking calmly at Tavian!
"How did you know I'd take this route?"
Noella shrugged nonchalantly.
"Oh, nothing much, just planted a tracker under your car hood."
Tavian was flabbergasted!
"My car hood? How could you be sure I'd take this car?"
"I didn't. So, I just happened to take over the parts development for a few car factories recently, tracking all the vehicles." "You're breaking the law!"
Noella nodded, "Glad to know you still care about the law, so I left all those data backups with the police, not with me." She simply made another copy of the information she needed!
Tavian clenched his teeth in anger.
Polaris Star's research findings were crucial, and Noella had shared all data with the police unconditionally!
If Polaris Star was entirely taken over by the authorities, what was the point?
"You won't get away with this!"
Noella calmly responded, "What did you say? The Obelisk Organization has been cooperating with the border police since day one."
Even as an assassin, Noella only targeted those who were already condemned!
"Just doing a bit of bounty hunting on the deep web to make ends meet, a small business, not easy at all."
In Tavian's eyes, Noella was insane!
"Your operations won't bring a brighter future to Polaris Star."
Noella looked at Tavian with disdain.
"Stop dreaming. Your reinforcements? I took care of them too."
Tavian didn't trust anyone, but he also wouldn't leave here alone to return to the border!
"Are you mad? All your choices are wrong!"
"Just happened to arrive a bit earlier and took care of some minor issues here."
As Tavian realized the futility of his situation, he glared at Noella!
"You think this is all I have?"
"I figured as much, so I also took the liberty of changing the staff at Lockhart Prison."
Xavier was once Tavian's right-hand man!
Not wanting to see him struggle in his retirement, Noella simply had all the guards in Lockhart Prison rotated.
Tavian wished he could grind Noella to dust and swallow her whole!
As the international police took Tavian away, he stared venomously at Noella, "I'll be back."
"You think you're the Big Bad Wolf? Don't worry, I'll be waiting."
Watching Tavian being escorted away, the border police blew their whistle, "All clear! Stay alert for any rescue attempts!"
Noella added, "My people will escort you a bit of the way, no need to worry too much."
Saluting Noella, the international police quickly wrapped up and left in a formidable procession.
Watching their retreating figures, Mizar whistled.
"Boss, what's our next move?"
"Business as usual, make money, go to school!"
Mizar chuckled, "Ah? Didn't expect the boss to actually like school."
"It's okay. My family wants to see me lead a peaceful and stable life, so let's give them what they want."
"That old fox might get out in a few years."
Noella smirked, "Then, before he gets out, let's make all his possessions mine!"
Everyone at Polaris Star grinned wickedly.
Dark, so dark.
But they loved it!
...
Four years later.
In the vast expanse of the Sahara Desert, where the endless sea of sand stained the whole world in shades of dust, lost travelers trudged with difficulty. The landscape was a relentless, undifferentiated canvas of sand, and
Dalia Sinclair was on the brink of
despair.
"I should have never strayed from the group. Who said there were precious mineral pigments out here?"
If they couldn't find a way out soon, they were doomed to perish in this barren wilderness.
"Hey! There's someone ahead!"
A man, exuding calm and collected energy, rode a camel through the desert with the ease of someone on a leisurely vacation, his camel's bells
ringing melodically.
Stirling, observing the obviously lost
group, fixed his gaze on Dalia's face and asked, "You bear a striking resemblance to my cousin Darcy. Are you by any chance related to the Sinclairs?"
Was this some kind of bizarre desert pickup line?
"Y-Yes... Do you know me?"
"The Schnabel Gallery... An employee of Noella's? Are you folks lost?"
Noticing the logo on Dalia's hat, Stirling immediately recognized it as belonging to Noella's gallery.
"Yes, exactly. We were on the hunt for a rare mineral pigment, rumored to be found here. We've lost our way from the rest of our team!"
"Noella is here, too?"
It had been years since Stirling had crossed paths with anyone from the Schnabel family!
Dalia nodded. "Our boss is here, too. But we're in the middle of nowhere, with no signal on our phones. We can't find our way out..."
With a confident, mischievous grin, vastly different from the actor Stirling once was, he reassured them in a way that momentarily made them forget
his past celebrity.
"This? This is nothing. I'll guide you out of here!"
