Chapter 2338
The times were really better now, as tramps in the genuine sense of the word were rare.
"You're not suffering from any disability," Frank pointed out in curiosity. "Why would you rather stay holed up here instead of getting a job and making a living?"
The tramp sat, crossing her legs and pouted as she pointed at her head. "I'd like to make a living too, but I'm suffering from brain damage and can't remember much.
"That's why I'm here, to get some peace and quiet-it's not too late to remember who I am and get a job later on. Moreover, the villagers here are quite charitable, and some of them often drop by to give me food. And since I'm no picky eater, I'd never go hungry."
Frank strode up. "How would you repay me if I restore your memories?"noveldrama
"You're kidding." The tramp snorted. "My brain has actually retained knowledge on that front, and I know that amnesia is due to damage to the hippocampus. That means the damage is irreversible, and I could only hope for a miracle."
Frank nodded and pointed at his stomach. "I'm hungry. Get me something to eat!"
The tramp nodded and ran behind the statue again before returning with two melon buns, stuffing one into her own mouth while passing Frank the other.
The melon buns were baked well, and while it looks puffed, one could finish it in a couple of mouthfuls. "Did you forget who you are too?" The tramp stared at Frank in curiosity after finishing her melon bun. "The question "Who am I?' is philosophical. Even if my memories are intact, I can't really answer that question.'
"That's so profound!" The tramp held a thumbs-up at Frank and passed Frank a bottle of water. Frank took a sip before waving his hand.
All the dust building up across the temple cleared away instantly, and the entire hall was suddenly clean! "Woah!" The tramp exclaimed in shock and pointed at the statues. "Are you one of them?"
Frank chuckled, shaking his head. "You're imagining things. I'm not them, and I'm far from reaching their level."
The tramp nodded blankly and pressed, "Where are you from?"
"Where are you from?" Frank threw her question right back at her.
The tramp smiled in wry amusement. "I told you-my brain was injured, and I don't remember anything." Frank nodded. "But like I said, that's a philosophical question!"
The tramp smiled knowingly and

took out a carpet and a chess sat from behind the statue. "Despite my situation people these days are really kind, especially the kids. They're so worried that I can't sleep comfortably, so they brought me this carpet.
"And since t might get bored, they gave me this chess set too. Honestly, why do people like them have to live in a backwater place like this? They definitely deserve better."
Frank shrugged. "Kind people are always easily exploited. That's the one truth that has never changed from the beginning."
The tramp sighed and arranged her pieces. "I'm white, and white goes first."
"Then I'll move my pawn."
As they played, Frank could already tell that the tramp was not your typical chess player. She must have learned chess, and professionally at that, or she would not play this well!
Frank then suggested, "You should ask officials for assistance. Maybe there are still records of you in the system? And who knows, your
family might still be looking for net
Doesn't that suit you just fine
The tramp smiled, shaking her head. "I won't remember even if I meet them. They'd be able to tell, no
matter how I pretend."
What do you think?
