The Fated Match

“Coach uh, I think you need to come outside,” Scott says as he poked his head in my office as I’m writing out reports. Something i hate doing but Ryan insists that i do this weekly. I’d rather watch paint dry.

“can it not wait; Ryan will be up my ass if i don’t finish these” i said showing him the stack i still had to do. I can definitely see myself taking these home too.

“It’s Theo, he’s practically lost i on Jenn’s boyfriend ” Scott said nervously. I practically launched out of my seat.

As soon as i made it to the gym i saw that Theo had Jackson pinned to the wall as Jenn cried behind them.

“Scott a little help” i wheezed out as i strugled to get Theo off him.

It wasn’t hard to figure out what exactly was going on but i had to get them away from each other before Ryan saw this. Theo could get into deep shit.

Scott finally managed to get Theo off of Jackson.

Jenn ran infront of Jackson, kneeling. ” i’m so sorry”

I pull Theo back as Jackson just stares at her, he doesn’t smile like he normally does and he doesn’t look like he wants to comfort her as she cries.

“I just didnt expect this from you, i love you nd this is how you repay me,” Jackson said above a whisper.

I stared at him and Jenn.

Theo adjusts his jacket. ” sorry man” Theo says as he also puts the pieces together finally.

It’s fine, i just need some time” Jackson pushes himself off the wall and passes Jen without even looking her way. As soon as he disappears Jenn completely breaks down. Theo moves forward and wraps his arms around her.

” I didnt mean to, i i didnt mean to kiss that guy Theo. He hates me now” she sobs into his chest.

Myself and Scott were lost for words. I dont think i ever expected Jenn to do that. She was always so confident with her relationship.

I rubbed her back. ” He doesn’t hate you. He just needs time, you know how much he loves you alright, so just give him space” i told her.

This is why relationships are risky when you’re focused on your career. This isn’t just any school this is where you make your career.

” Take todays training off” i said nodding at Theo.

Theo smiled at me as he pulled Jenny along with him as he headed out. When it was just me and Scott i finally breathed.

” I’ve never seen Jackson like that” scott whispered.

I nodded, me either.

” get ready, I’ll be in shortly” i said as i headed back into my office.

I knew that the next week would be difficult for both of them if they didn’t sort this out soon, i need to be real with her but i also need to remember that she’s going through it right now.

After training i stayed back in the office and finished off those reports. I could have just taken them home but i also know that i’ll probably get too distracted with anything else. If I’m here at my desk its more likely that i will complete it.

It’s weird that the traits I learnt whilst studying still stays.

I filed them into my cabinet and grabbed my stuff. It was already 9 so it was pretty late. The girls from netball were practising late in the hall.

I headed out and walked past the pitch on my way to my car. I noticed that Jackson was still here. I had thought he headed home but i guess he stayed back.

” i really hate this shit, can’t deal with all this loved up shit” their coach called as he watched him too.

“what do you expect, i’m sure you were the same” i winked at him. He tilted his head back laughing. “you don’t know shit” he said as he walked off, he threw me the keys. “Make sure you lock the gates before you leave”

I pocketed the keys and walked across to meet Jacob.

I knew that he saw me, but chose to ignore me as he carried on dribbling the ball through cones.

” You know that I can’t leave until you do” I said as I crossed my arms. He bumped into a cone, cutting off his dribbling.

” Are you coming to lecture me too” he said kicking the ball across the field straight into the fence.

I uncrossed me arms and stood back. ” I’m not, its none of my business but I do need to say something since your girl is the captain of my team and sister of my boyfriend” I told him. Whatever went on between them two can’t affect their performance.

They both know that too.

” so technically it is your business”

Tehnically I guess.

” I’m not that typical guy coach, I couldn’t be especially with her” I watched as he sunk to the ground. I decided to follow suit and joined him.

” Bless her, she was so shy before and I just wanted to spend time with her even if that meant shopping with her in those stupid home stores”i smiled I knew the store he meant, I was guilty of it myself.

I have to admit, I was guilty of stereotyping him.

” Did you even listen to what happened, even though she says you annoy her, I can tell she honestly likes you” I told him. She wasn’t one to show that much affection especially in public.

He scoffed ” I don’t need to listen, I was stupid enough to let my guard down around her”

This was going to be a lot harder than I imagined. I really don’t have the time to be meddling in their lives but I didn’t want to be a coach that didn’t think of my students personal lives.

I know personally that the stress of success and competitions can be extremey stressful so I didn’t want to ignore this.

” Look, I can’t tell you what to do Jackson but she has every right to be listened to, without you yelling at her, scaring her” I added that last comment for his instant reaction.

“I scared her?” he asked, his eyes widening.

I smirked.

He groaned.

” you’re honestly evil” he mutters looking down. It was honestly weird for Jackson to be like this, his mood down and that sadness to his eyes.

” Jackson you’d scare anyone with that tone that you used. Listen to what she has to say first and then make your decision. As her coach I have to protect her, and personally I would prefer if there was no couple drama before competitions but I also understand that you guys are young.”

Its not like I wanted her to be unhappy. I’m not evil.

I stood up and dusted off the grass from my legs. I turned silently to face him. ” you’re lucky it was just a kiss. Could have been a whole lot worse”

I would know.

Jackson looked like he wanted to find out more but I sent him a look. It meant , don’t push it.

I was glad that Jackson decided to take my advice. I was definitely happy that he was heading home since I didn’t want to be out longer than this.

Come to the restaurant. I’ll make dinner

I read the text from Theo.

I made sure to lock up everything as I left to get to my car. I was looking forward to a glass of wine and dinner tonight, he invited me like I didn’t have a choice. He knew me too well to decline his offer for food.

I didn’t bother going home first and drove straight to the restaurant. As I parked I was relieved to see that not many people were there. If there was, I wouldn’t have the joy of getting to speak to my boyfriend.

As soon as I opened the door, one of the waiters took one look before shouting for Theo.

Theo exited the kitchen and met me by the bar. He walked out from behind the bar and grabbed my arms, pulling me in for a hug.

” How’s Jenny?” I asked him as I rubbing his arms.

He leant back. ” she’s okay, Melissa and Bryony organised a movie night at the house. I let them enjoy the cinema room” he told me.

I smiled. Thank god for those girls. They really have grown since the first week I met them.

” does that mean we aren’t spending tonight together” I grinned up at him, squeezing his shoulders.

It was funny to see his reaction change.

” you live alone” he said more like a statement. He knew that I lived alone.

I pushed him away from me. ” make me some food” I grumbled finding a seat at the bar.

Theo disappeared into the back. He really liked to cook for me when I came here. He could easily leave it to his other chef to make as he spent time wth me but chose against doing that.

I loved that.

” why aren’t you serving me wine” I raised my eyes to Chad. Everytime ive been here since that day when we met. He has never been working and when he has, he hides in the back.

” He told me not to get you drunk before you’ve had your food”

Seriously?

” Not even for a pretty girl like myself”

One of the bartenders burst out laughing. Chad turned red and glanced down, totally embarrassed.

If it wasn’t for the smell coming out of the kitchen as Theo walked out with my food, I would’ve teased him more.

Lucky for him. Theo saved him from more embarrassment.

” you seriously want me fat don’t you” I raised my brow as I stared at Theo. He brought out sticky fried chicken and a platter of fresh sushi rolls. It smelled so good, I was sure I was drooling.

” just a little bit” he smirked.

” You guys can head home, ill lock up” he dismissed everyone as they stood around not knowing what to do since there wasn’t anyone else in the restaurant. They did close in 1 hour so I’m not surprised.

They waved at me as they rushed out. An early finish means a lot to students in particular.

” I know you want wine, but I just got some Japanese wine if you wanted that?” he says as he opens up the fridge showing me abottle.

Can’t I have both.

” I’ll take a beer, it’s fitting with the fried chicken anyway” I said pointing to the fridge.

I’ll have wine another day.

Theo brought over two beers and sat beside me. He brought his hand around and forced me closer. ” Ryan called you into his office didn’t he?” I asked. I vaguely remember Scott saying something at training.

Theo nodded. ” he did, he let me off since Jenny is my sister”

I knew Ryan would do that, Jackson didn’t even mind it, he wasn’t even going to complain about Theo, he was too busy being pissed off at Jenny to even think about it.

” It’s either we’re dealing with our relationship or someone elses” I say, thinking back to how needed to handle Josh and Bryony’s drama. It just never stops.

” Im just glad we’re good. I can manage the students but when it comes to you, totaldifferent ball game” he whsipers, gently kissing my cheek.

I smiled. ” I’m definitely not easy, but I think its worth it don’t you” I said popping the last piece of sushi in my mouth. Jesus Christ it was good.

” about time you finished that” Theo pushes away my plate and pulls me in for a kiss. It was definitely not what I expected. I moaned as he kissed me roughly, pulling at my neck, showing me his urgency.

I had to pull back. I looked around, there’s got to be cameras in here or something.

He brought me back, placing his finger under my chin.

” I’m the boss here Elle, I can do whatever I want and not worry about anyone watching” he whsipers, his lips gliding over my neck tattoo.

I closed my eyes as I felt the pleasure of his lips. Why do I become so weak whenever he touched that tattoo.

It probably wasn’t the brightest idea to get it on one of the most sensitive parts of my body.

Next time I’ll think twice before getting a permanent tattoo.
