Chapter 36: 36

Chapter 36: 36

Elliot reads the poem and takes him a couples of minutes to reply. I put down my phone and start

gathering our used clothes for housekeeping. I start separating our used clothes from those that still

fresh. I pull out all the luggage and empty them. All of Elliot’s clothes are in one big suitcase and so are

my fresh clothes. As I put the used clothes into one of those bags, I see a piece of paper folded into

four and inserted between the piles of used clothes.

“You will know who I am. I deserve better than this” the notes said. There was a remark of XOXO at the

end. As a woman, I hunched that the person who wrote the note was female. I may just be sexist but

I’m just using my instincts. Who could this be? I don’t remember a woman stepping foot in our suite. I

don’t remember a woman even ….

There was a woman who came. She was from the front desk but she couldn’t have done this. The

penmanship is soft, like a woman’s. I rush to the dinning table and grab my phone. I take a photo and

send it to Elliot. I was until the photo sends. After that, I went back to packing the clothes in the laundry

bag. Once I finish, I call housekeeping to come pick it up. As I wait for them to come and get the

laundry, I get back to the dinning and check for any reply from Elliot.

“Where did you get this?” he asks

“From the laundry. I was sorting out clothes.”

“Are you okay?” he replies

“Yeah, I am. Elliot, who would do this?” I ask him

“I’ll be home in an hour. Do not go out and do not let anyone in. Bring the laundry out for housekeeping”

I do as Elliot says when housekeeping arrives. I made sure that there was minimal contact. Once the

clothes were picked up. I locked the door and waited for Elliot to come home. I walk back an continue

packing the clean clothes. As I wait for Elliot, I decided to take a bath, to let the water carry my stress

away. I switch on the hot water and let it fill the tub. I walk over to the beauty pantry and pick out bath

salts, lavender oil and milk foam. I pour them into the tub. I balance the heat with a little lukewarm

water until I feel the temperature is just right. I take off my clothes and walk into the tub. I rest my back

and look up to the ceiling. My heart was pounding and dropping all at the same time. My hands were

cold even with the heat of the water. My head hurt and my thought were scattered. I did not know

where to find myself in the middle of all of this. Who could that letter come from? Who could that be?

What does this person need from us?
