Chapter 13: The Search for
Octavia Gills took the documents and rushed out, returning to her office to work in earnest.
Time flew by quickly as she tapped away at the keyboard, until the silence was interrupted by the beeping of the mailbox.
When she clicked on it, it was an email from a famous Japanese manga studio with a dense Japanese message that probably meant:
Dear Octavia Chihiro, your manga ‘searching’ has broken previous sales records and set new sales highs worldwide, and now Mr. Fujita, a well-known Japanese manga producer, has taken a liking to your work and wants to meet with you soon to discuss the details. Although you have turned down many manga producers who have tried to buy your work before, this is a rare opportunity to work with a manga producer who is the dream of all manga artists and who will take your career as a manga artist straight to the top. Please consider carefully! Octavia Chihiro’s manga fans have been really been looking forward to your new work!
Octavia Chihiro is a very famous modern comic book artist, one of the first mainland comic book artists to export her work to Japan and Taiwan and achieved excellent results. No photos were provided, so her identity is only known to very few people!
Five years ago, she entered the comic industry, which she loved, and after graduating from university she joined Group Davi, where she became famous for this comic, “Searching.” The comics sold out as soon as it was published and has been a best seller ever since.
Octavia Gills loves her job as a cartoonist, and her heart can’t stop thinking about how much she wants to leave Tredan, who needs her at the moment.
Tredan, who had just returned to the Group Davi house, saw Octavia Gills’ glum face while sitting on the balcony, and asked, “What’s wrong? You look so sad.”
“You’re back, I’ve cooked for you and made soup!” I noticed that you didn’t sleep well last night, so I bought some calming herbs and brew them. Octavia Gills led Tredan to the table, placed the soup in front of him and went to the kitchen to heat up the food.
Watching her back as she busied herself, a warm current ran through his veins, warming every cell in his body. Usually, when he came home, the spacious kitchen was unusually cold, devoid of any scent, and he wandered around like a lonely soul. Now, it was so nice! She cooks meals and waits for him at home, and while he reads some documents at night, she prepares a very special cup of coffee for him, occasionally rubs his shoulders and presses his temples, and sometimes she just sits quietly across him writing and drawing, though he has never peeked at what she’s drawing.
Tredan fell asleep that night, with a smile on his face, holding Octavia Gills close to him.
Domino walked around anxiously in front of the cinema, looking at her watch and cursing, “Bastard, it’s been a minute and eight seconds and he hasn’t shown up!” Domino, looking unusually youthful and lively in her strappy jeans, wlaked around anxiously with a large bucket of popcorn in her hand, occasionally shouting, “Woodrow, you bastard!”
A stylishly dressed and handsome Woodrow came running, panting.
“Domino, what’s wrong with you? Standing here cursing me all the time, I sneezed all the way! Don’t curse at me like that, I really rushed here after the meeting!”
“You deserve it, you know I’m the one who’s supposed to be late, you’re the one standing here with popcorn and coke waiting for me, but you’re the one who’s got my role all wrong, I’ve been waiting for you for 3 minutes and 32 seconds and my feet are killing me in these heels!” Domino pouted at Woodrow as her teenage feelings flared up.
“There, there, my little aunt, you win! I apologize to you!” Woodrow faked a compromise, picked Domino up across the room when she wasn’t looking and stormed off into the cinema!
“Ah, stinky Woodrow, you’re cheating, put me down now, there are a lot of people looking?” The normally big-hearted Domino had a shy side, and Woodrow smiled proudly.
“It’s okay, I don’t care what people think of us, if one dares to talk about us, we’ll beat one, if two …”
“If two of them talk about us, we have to beat up a pair!”
Before Woodrow could finish his sentence, the ho-hum dialogue was stolen by Domino.
After laughing out loud at the unhinged pair, they went in to watch a serious movie adaptation of a newly released comic!
Don’t be surprised, in their 20s and 30s they don’t go for any romance, funny movies, or action movies or anything like that.
Domino is a ‘manga fan’ and she is also the head of Octavia Gills’ manga fan club, and while Woodrow is not interested in manga, he is interested in Gorgeous, so he wants to spend time with her. Woodrow appreciates these things with love.
It was another beautiful, breezy weekend and Tredan had left last night for Shanghai to follow up on an unexpected project there. Olivia Gills also received an important call, it concerned everyone in her family and a deal that would not only improve her family’s finances, but her brother, Gar Gills’ medical expenses would no longer be a problem!
Durwin Gills was a businessman who owned a small fruit farm and became a wealthy member of the local community. When her father died in a car accident, Durwin Gills simply said to the widow and orphans, “I’m sorry for your loss.”
Her mother, who was just a housewife, took her and her brother, who had a congenital heart condition, to Durwin’s house to beg him to let her work on the farm to support her family for the sake of their dead father.
Octavia Gills vividly remembers her mother, Elda Block, kneeling in front of Durwin in tears, pleading, “Arigato left suddenly and the family had no savings, Octavia Gills had to study and her sick brother needs daily medication to maintain his health. Although we received a settlement for the accident, it is difficult to support the family.” The mother, who has no one to turn to, hoped that Durwin Gills will take her in on his farm so that she can have an income to support her children.
