The CEO’S Secret Mistress

Chapter 5 The last thing she needed

When they got to the Estate, Blaine was relieved to see that the renovation wasn’t hardcore. The weeds that were on the building and even the gates had been removed, and the grass was being mowed, but the white paint on the building was still dull and had green disgusting patches on it.

When he got down from the car, it seemed like someone had just moved in. He could hear a male voice yelling curses at someone. His suspicion was confirmed when a young boy probably in his teens came out of the Estate, fuming and glaring at everything he set his eyes on.

He didn’t need anyone to tell him that he had just met the son of the man who had died because the boy looked exactly the same. But he also knew that he couldn’t talk to the boy in the state he was in. He seemed very angry about something. The boy gave him one look before he went to the back of the building.

” Luke! Come back here right now!” Said a girl as she stormed out, following him. Like the boy, she resembled their father but it was so uncanny that Blaine suspected that they were twins. The two of them came back to the front of the house and started arguing again while Blaine stood there and watched.

” Luke, do you think you’re the only one who has something to lose? If you didn’t want to come then why didn’t you stay with Aunt Martha in LA?” the girl was saying.

” Stop it both of you!” A woman said as she came out of the house and ran her hands through her hair in frustration. Blaine wondered if she was the mother but she seemed too young for that assumption.

” Luke, I get that you’ve lost so much to be here but it’s not our fault. This is the only way we can help him fulfill his dreams – is that too much to ask? I know he’s dead but…but don’t you think he will be thankful anyway?” she said calmly, her voice was so soothing that even Blaine felt at ease because the tension between these two siblings earlier was crazy.

” I just didn’t want to come back to this place, I hate it here…” he suddenly said breaking down in tears.

After a warm family reunion or whatever strange thing she did to pacify them, the two siblings went back inside but not without telling their older sister that a man had been watching the entire time.

When the woman turned to look at Blaine he was thrown off guard but he kept his cool. He was just thinking of leaving London in search of Mavis not knowing that she would be standing in front of him a few hours later.

Mavis was surprised to see a tall man whose facial features and physique she thought were indeed a deadly combo. He stood in front of his car, though she wasn’t good with car brands, she knew this one was a BMW and there was something about him that seemed familiar.

” Excuse me? Are you looking for someone?” she said, folding her hands and giving him what she hoped would be an intimidating look.

” Hi,” he said simply before he took off his suit and gave it to the man standing beside him. Mavis managed to peel her eyes off his muscles that were now more visible to her as he approached her.

” Who are you?” she asked, the man raised one of his brows and chuckled, his dimple and cleft chin distracting her from everything she previously said. Even the way he looked at her made her melt, she could try to ignore his dimple or cleft chin but his Obsidian eyes were her weakness.

” Mavis, come on. It’s me, Blaine.” He said, looking at her fondly while she panicked.

” You’re Blaine?” she asked with a worried expression on her face.

” Do you not remember?” Blaine asked her, he couldn’t believe his eyes and ears. How could she not remember gifting him the most beautiful night he’s ever spent with a woman?

Mavis seemed to have realized something but she suddenly shook her head and said to him, ” I believe we might’ve spent the night together?”

Blaine’s face lit up as he smiled, revealing his perfectly structured teeth as he did so but something about his smile got on her nerves. To Mavis, it was more of a smirk than a smile, as if he was saying to himself, ” of course, you remember, I’m so good in bed.”

She believed he was egocentric and honestly he was giving her a vibe that she thought was a very hardcore and probably worse version of Damon. She suddenly disliked him already.

” I knew you’d remember, I’ve missed you.” He said, trying to touch her but she recoiled from him as if he has a plague and Blaine felt his heart ache at her response. Why would she do that? He simply wanted to hug her, was that a wrong move? – he thought.

” Look here, Blaine. I don’t remember anything that happened between us that night. The only reason why I was even able to tell that you’re the one I spent the night with is that my friends saw me leaving with you and somehow caught your name. So if you’ve come here to resume whatever nonsense it is you think we shared then I suggest you go back home!” Mavis stated firmly. This time she didn’t need to convince herself that she sounded blunt and cold.

Blaine was surprised. He opened his mouth to speak but stopped when he realized that she did drink heavily after several steamy rounds of sex. That would explain why she genuinely wouldn’t remember a thing. But regardless, he didn’t think he deserved such cold treatment from her.

” I didn’t come here for that actually,” he said before he took off his wristwatch, and the man who had carried his suit stepped forward as he placed the watch in the man’s hand like that watch was some kind of treasure. Mavis was starting to dislike him even more. How did I even sleep with such a pompous ass? – she wondered.

” Then what did you come here for huh?”

” I remembered that I made a deal with your…late father that I would be purchasing this house but for some personal reasons I couldn’t buy the house –”

” – it’s an Estate,” Mavis cut in, giving him a cold stare.

” Right… the Estate. Anyway, I was informed that your dad passed and that someone had seemingly moved in…so I decided to come see –”

” – if you could somehow still purchase the house?” Mavis cut in but her question was rhetorical, she didn’t need an answer from him. She already knew she was right.

” No, I came to see if it was his relatives so that I could pay condolences,” Blaine said, knowing it was the other half of the truth.

” And then buy the house.”

” Why are you trying to make me the bad guy here?” he asked, placing his hand on his chest as he frowned. Mavis was infuriated by that act, how dare he think he can pretend to care about her father’s death, she thought.

” I am not trying to make you anything. One look and I can tell that you’re an ambitious, pompous, and selfish man who thinks he can get anything he wants.”

” Woah, now Mavis I am everything and anything except pompous and selfish – I am ambitious, and I wanted to buy the house from your father.”

” My father only considered selling the ESTATE at a time of great need. This ESTATE is the only thing that represents our family name. It was once a glorious sight and when you disappointed him by not buying it – thank God, by the way, he decided to will the house to me and made me promise that I would never sell the house to you. So forget about buying this house because I’m keeping it.”

He said nothing, he didn’t even look phased by her outburst but that was a trait of Blaine. He could mask his true feelings under a blank expression and you would never know what he is thinking. However, right now, he was having so much mixed feelings.

” You know, that night we spent together…I treasured it. I thought that underneath the wild behavior you exhibited and all your muttering during your drunken rambles that there was a genuinely sweet woman who was going through something she didn’t deserve to endure. I guess I was wrong to have been thinking about you all this while,” Blaine said.

” So Miss Tremont, I think you’re right. Keep this beautiful Estate and restore it to its former glory. I’m sorry that I thought coming here and buying the house would make you feel better, money can’t bring your father back.” Blaine said again but she said nothing to him.

” Have a good day,”

Mavis watched as Blaine walked away from her and entered his car. Though he didn’t show it in his face, his body language exposed how upset he was and she wondered if she’d been too harsh.

She knew she made it look like it was his fault her father died but deep down she didn’t know why her father so desperately wanted to sell the house at first. She had been through so much disappointment and break up with men like Blaine and the last thing she needed was falling for him and then ending up as his Mistress or something. The thought alone repulsed her.

No, I did the right thing. He won’t ever look for me again – she thought.
