Chapter 30 Padré’s demands
Blaine couldn’t blame Mavis for how she reacted to the death of her friend. But he also couldn’t relate to any of her emotions because he has never had friends either. He didn’t because he wanted to play safe. After running away from Columbia, the thought it best to keep out of radar and so he never got close to anyone nor did he let anyone get close to him. The last person he let in was Victoria and it almost ruined him.
After Mavis fainted, he carried her upstairs to her room where he watched over her for a while before he called Paulo and asked after her siblings and her remaining two friends.
When they arrived, they all gave him the cold shoulder but he didn’t care. He just spoke to one of the ladies, he didn’t know her name but she seemed to give him a cold attitude. He begged her to please watch Mavis and to let him know immediately after she awakes. As for her brother, he quickly called a doctor to treat him before his wounds get any worse and that was how he left them and headed to his father’s office to deal with the matter properly.
When he reached his father’s office, he was unable to open the door even though he could tell that his father was inside.
Blaine looked around the house and wondered why it was so quiet. There really wasn’t a single bodyguard and that bothered him a little.
” He doesn’t allow just anyone in there” he heard Isabella say and then turned to face her.
” I’m not just anyone”
” Well, not anymore. Not after what you did” she responded coldly.
” Oh, so you feel that way about what I did yet you still want to marry me?”
” What makes you think I hated what you did? I thought it was brave. Anyway, when are we getting married?” She asked while Blaine rolled his eyes and started to live but the door to his father’s office opened up.
” Were you looking for me?” His father asked with a smirk on his face while Blaine just stopped dead in his tracks.
” You know, it was quite an act you pulled back there. Acting tough as if you actually have a say in this.”
” Why can’t Paulo marry her huh? Why does it have to be me?” Blaine asked, ignoring his father’s statement about him acting tough.
” Well. Paulo is not legally adopted but you are. That makes you my legal son and Mariano will only accept a legal son as his daughter’s husband.”
” Look, just marry her. It doesn’t stop you from sleeping with the other woman. You can have them both.”
Blaine could see that there was no escaping his father’s proposal. He only wished that there was a way to escape it all.
” I will find a way to free myself from him but until then I have to pretend that I yield, “Blaine said to himself.
” Fine,” he said to the hearing of both his father and Isabella before he headed to find a room to rest.
” Where are you going? Wouldn’t you like to plan your wedding with Isabella?”
” Please just let me rest,” Blaine said, still walking away and not seeming to care about anything else his father had to say. But that was what he wanted his father to think. That was what he wanted Isabella to think, even though deep down he was afraid of what his father would do should he know for certain that Blaine still fears him.

Mavis woke up some moments later and when she opened her eyes, she was surrounded by Amy, Lisa, and Luke who were all sleeping in their own beds that was beside hers in the large bedroom she found herself in. When she started looking for Darla it was then she realized why she fainted in the first place and then she started to sob silently.
She couldn’t believe that one decision she made on her night of drunken adventures led to all of this misfortune. Now, Darla is dead. She is dead and one way or another it still is her fault.
She just wished everything would be a bad dream but it wasn’t. Her hatred for Blaine got even worse because she was certain that he wasn’t even remorseful about it.
She was certain that by morning Blaine would marry that Isabella girl and lie to himself that he was doing it to protect her. If he dares to say that to her, she would slap him so hard across his face and that was a promise.
Blaine on the other hand was thinking hard on the matter on ground. He wouldn’t dare to refuse his father. The man was so diabolical that he lead his enemies to Blaine just so Blaine would come back home for protection. His father knew that simply sending Paulo would do nothing to move Blaine and it was that about his father that he feared the most – that the man knew him Luke the back of his hand.
” You will marry Isabella tomorrow and bring your mistress with you.” His father had said while Blaine was in his room that night. He wanted to ask how his father opened the door but he realized that he unlocked his room with his fingerprint.
” You can unlock all the rooms with your fingerprint, can’t you?” Blaine asked, sitting up in his bed as he faced his father.
” And can kill you if I wanted with this finger and just in case you think of cutting it, I have other ways around it.” He responded while Blaine sighed.
” I’m not a monster. I wouldn’t do those things again and certainly not to you even though you trained me to be a heartless murderer instead of a normal kid.”
” What? You think being a typical kid is better than the life I gave to you? I guess you thought I should’ve left you alone then. ”
” I just… forget it.”
” If I marry Isabella”
” When you marry Isabella” his father corrected.
” Whatever, if I marry her, then what?”
” Well, you do have quite the reputation after squandering the money you stole from me. A billionaire?! I could’ve believed you could get so much out of that cash. Anyway, I need you to keep up that reputation and that identity of yours but you will live here of course.”
” You want me to live as Blaine Rider?”
” Yes of course. Only us Mafias know who you really are and that’s something none of them – not even my enemies can reveal without outing themselves to the police. So, yes. I want you to continue with your business. Just say you’re buying a company here and want to focus on this one of whatever.”
” It was you wasn’t it?”
” What?”
” You’re the reason my life started to get terrible. The reason why Victoria started cheating, the reason my business started failing all of a sudden. It was you the whole time wasn’t it?”
” Well, I have nothing to do with the Victoria woman. I did try to get you uncomfortable with your life by taking some of my money back from your accounts… I planned on making you wretched before but this new Mafia attacked too fast. I had to speed up the process”
” Do I even want to know how you got access to my funds?” Blaine asked looking at the man standing before him with so much disgust in his eyes the entire time. His father just laughed and then he said, ” marry Isabella, go back to being a billionaire and bring your mistress to the wedding. As well as her companions”
” Why? Can’t she just be left out of it?”
” You’ve really seemed to have forgotten everything I taught you. She got herself entangled with you now she is one of us. She knows too much”
” Regardless, she wouldn’t say anything”
” Yes, just like you thought Victoria was never gonna out you after I threatened her… oops. Maybe I did have a little to do with Victoria. What woman in her right sense would leave you right?”
Blaine couldn’t even be surprised. His father was obsessed with keeping his hold over his area and he was willing to do anything to make that happen. Even sabotaging his son’s life.
” Look, all I’m saying is that there can be no suspicious persons or suspicious behaviors anymore. That’s why I don’t have any bodyguards, my house is the guard. ”
” Are you being watched?”
“Of course I am. That’s why your mistress must play her part as your pregnant mistress who you won’t be marrying and her friends must play their parts as her siblings. That way we all look like a happy family. ”
” You’re kidding right?”
” No. Sleep well. You have to look good for the cameras tomorrow”
” Cameras? I thought you said we are being watched.”
” Good night my son,” he said simply, ignoring Blaine’s questions.
” Fuck. I’m screwed.” He cursed knowing that he was done for because his father didn’t make a request. It was a demand. A demand he will regret for the rest of his life.
