Chapter 18 A Sad Asshole
He walked back to the dorm feeling like a total loser. How could he have been such a jerk that even when he poured his heart out, told the naked truth to the person he most cared about, she didn’t believe him. He suddenly felt so aware of himself, eyes gazing at him along the way to the dorm.
“Hey, Preston.” Pretty girls greeted him here and there. Somehow they all knew who he was around campus. “Where are you going, Preston?” another voice came.
It was getting late. Girls who came at him only had one thing in their minds. He realized it was who he was, that was why Julie would never agree to be his girlfriend. He leaned lazily on the doorway of his dorm. “Hey … Preston … need some company?” A girl in a miniskirt greeted him by the door.
He smiled at the irony, “Hey…” He didn’t even know her name.
“Samantha, from Corporate Psychology … I sat right behind you,” she said.
“Samantha … of course I remember,” his gaze made her blush.
She curled her hair with her finger, “So … what are you doing tonight?”
He took a deep breath. This was what he does every so often, and that night, he had a good excuse. “Actually, I’m going up to my room, d’you wanna cum?” his charming smile was irresistible.
“Okay,” she agreed like so many others before.
They walked up to his room hand in hand, knowing full well what they were going to do. He stopped and looked at Julie’s door, convinced that she wasn’t in there. Even if she were, she wouldn’t want to see him. He pulled Samantha hard and led her to his room.
As soon as they were in, he locked the door, put the sign on the door for his roommate. Samantha looked around at the mess. She was about to start a small talk when Preston pinned her to the wall and kissed her.
His hands were under her skirt, his blazing kiss made her gasped for air. He buried his face in her breasts. He unbuttoned her top, took his shirt off and ran his tongue all over her breasts. She couldn’t resist his touches, especially when his fingers were already made their way inside her. She sighed, wrapped her arms around his neck.
He closed his eyes as they kissed, feeling her hands touching his skin. He wanted to go back to that night where his lips were kissing Julie. He wanted to remember how sweet she tasted in his mouth. He opened his eyes to find an unfamiliar face. He stared her down, “Your mouth is magical,” he lied. He put his finger inside her mouth, she made sucking motion, she got the hint. “Atta girl,” he said, took off his pants and sat on the bed.
She got down on her knees, her head between his legs. He threw himself on the bed and stared at the ceiling. He didn’t want to see her face, he wanted Julie. But every time he closed his eyes, all he could see was how she cried and told him she didn’t want to be with him. Tear drop formed in the corners of his eyes. There was a lump in the pit of his stomach. He wanted to feel the weight of Julie’s body on top of him, her skin brushing against his, the warmth inside of her.
He remembered that night, he wasn’t drunk enough to forget how amazing it was. He tried to relive it in his mind, though it was someone else stroking him between his legs. When he finally came, Julie’s name came out with it.
“Julie? Julie Greene?” Samantha’s voice was sharp. He covered his face with both hands, he was caught, he had no excuse. Samantha stood up and kicked his leg hard, “You’re such an asshole, Preston!” She put her clothes back on.
“I’m sorry … I must’ve fallen asleep,” he added to the fuel.
“Fuck you!” she screamed at him and hit him with her purse.
He deserved it, he didn’t even try to deny it. He sat on the bed and watched Samantha storm out and slammed the door. Another girl to confirm what an asshole he was. A sad asshole, because there was still tears dripping down his face.

“I’m sorry, Jules, I promise I’ll end it with Zach,” Kelsey said as soon as Julie walked in the door.
She was calm and quiet, “Okay.”
“It will be the first thing I do after I get back from Bhorma,” Kelsey continued.
“Okay,” Julie said again.
“Please don’t say anything to Nathan, I just don’t want to create any drama with Zach before we leave.”
Julie sat on the bed, “Okay.”
“Oh my God, have you been crying? I’m so sorry, Jules, I promise I’ll be good to him from now on, I swear.”
Julie took a deep breath, she didn’t have the energy to explain. “Okay.”
“Truce?” Kelsey offered a pinky.
“It wasn’t even a fight,” she commented.
“Really? I thought you were so mad at me and you hated my guts?”
“I did … I do hate your guts … but it wasn’t a fight.”
They laughed. Kelsey hugged her, finally relieved the problem was over. They couldn’t stand to be mad at each other for long.
“I’m sorry you have to lie for me, I know how much you hate that, but it’s gonna be the last time … I promise.”
Julie nodded. “It’s late, I think I’m gonna pack tomorrow … I’m really tired.”
“Okay … I’m just gonna go out to buy something, I’ll turn the lights out for you.”
Kelsey did just that before she went out the door. Julie laid in the dark, lying to herself that she was going to fall asleep, when in fact she was up all night staring into the dark.
