Chapter 188: The role of a father
“Henry,” he called out, his voice thick with desperation. “Henry, it’s me… It’s your father.”
But the boy remained rooted to the spot, his tiny frame trembling violently as he clung to the safety of the teacher’s skirts.
He recalled this man. Henry wondered if he had come to take him back to that place. His shaking did not stop. He trembled greatly.
This made the teachers defensive.
“Sir, step back!” they warned.
“This is my son; I only came to see him,” Charles insisted.
“Sir, we do not care. You are not on the list. Step back or we will be calling the police,” a teacher warned.
Richard arrived quickly.
As Richard took in the unfolding scene, his expression darkened, his jaw clenching in a silent display of barely restrained fury.
Without a word, he brushed past the teachers and strode toward the gates.
“Who are you?” Charles asked. He could tell the man was angry, and he became defensive.
But Richard didn’t so much as break stride; his steely gaze locked onto the trembling form of

As he drew nearer, the teachers parted like the red sea. No one needed to tell them that the father of the child was angry.
And then, in a moment that would forever be seated into Charles’s memory, Henry did the unthinkable. With a strangled cry of relief, the boy broke free from his paralysis and rushed toward Richard, his tiny arms outstretched in a desperate embrace.
“Daddy!” he wailed, his voice thick with tears and unbridled emotion. “Daddy!”
Charles felt the world shift beneath his feet, the ground seeming to drop away as he watched in abject horror. His own son, his flesh and blood, had rejected him utterly.
As Richard scooped Henry into his arms, murmuring soft reassurances into the boy’s ear, Charles felt something within him siap, propelling him forward in a blind rush.
“You bastard!” he roared, his fists clenched as he barreled toward the man who had taken his place in his family’s life. “That’s my son! Give him back to me!”
But Richard was ready, his movements swift and decisive. In a blur of motion, he shifted Henry’s weight to one arm and turned to face Charles head–on, his free hand lashing out in a lightning–fast strike.
The blow caught Charles squarely on the jaw, the force of the impact sending him staggering back, stars exploding behind his eyes.
He crashed to the ground in an undignified heap, his world spinning as he struggled to maintain consciousness.
The words, “Daddy! Daddy!” ringing in his ears as though mocking him. Henry was very excited to see the evil man drop. His dad was really strong

Martin Jones was soon discharged from the hospital. He decided to visit Gina in prison.
Martin found himself standing before the imposing gates of the prison where Gina was being held. The weight of the moment settled heavily upon his shoulders as he passed through the security checks and made his way to the visitation area, his footsteps echoing against the cold. concrete floors.
The tension in the room was palpable as Gina was escorted in, her eyes narrowing upon seeing Martin. She took her seat across from him, her lips curling into a cruel smirk that sent a chill down his spine. It was as if she took pleasure in his pain, reveling in the power she held over him.
“Why, Gina?” Martin asked, his voice trembling with emotion. “Why did you try to take my
life?”
Gina scoffed, leaning back in her chair with a nonchalant air. “You were just a weak man, Martin,” she sneered, her words cutting deeper than any blade. “You pretended to be an alpha male, but in reality, you were nothing more than a pathetic fool.”
Martin’s brow furrowed in confusion, and he leaned forward, his hands gripping the edge of the table. “What are you talking about?”
Gina’s laughter echoed through the room, sending chills down Martin’s spine. “Don’t you remember?” she taunted. “All those properties you claimed to own? They belonged to your ex- wife, the one who died before you had the misfortune of crossing paths with me.”
Martin’s jaw clenched, and he could feel the anger bubbling within him like a volcano on the of his pride and possessions with verge of eruption. How dare she mock him, stripping h her cruel words? “How dare you?” he shouted, his voice reverberating off the walls. “I’ll make Sure your son suffers for what you’ve done!”

contorted with rage. She lunged forward, her hands reaching for Martin’s throat, prompting the guards to intervene and restrain her. Martin watched in a mixture of satisfaction and horror as Gina thrashed against their grip, spewing curses and threats that echoed through
the visitation room.
“You’ll never see him again, you bastard!” she screamed, her voice raw with fury. “I’ll make sure of it!”
Feeling a twisted sense of victory, Martin turned and left the prison, his mind reeling from the confrontation. He made his way to the modest apartment he had rented during his hospital stay, the familiar streets offering little solace as a sense of unease–began to creep up his spine.
As he approached his car, his instincts warned him that something wasn’t right. Before he could react, a van screeched to a stop beside him, its doors flung open with a violent force. Several men in masks emerged, their imposing figures filling Martin with dread.
Martin fought back with all his strength, but his weakened state left him no match for his
assailants.
They overpowered him, binding his hands and feet with rough ropes that bit into his flesh. Despite his struggles and cries for help, they dragged him into the van, the doors slamming
shut.
Inside the van, the dim lighting only added to the sense of disorientation that gripped Martin. He could hear the muffled voices of his captors, their words indecipherable through the thick walls that separated them. The rumbling of the engine beneath him and the occasional jolt as they navigated the city streets only served to heighten his anxiety.
Time seemed to blur as the van continued its journey, each minute feeling like an eternity. Martin’s mind raced with a thousand questions each one more terrifying than the last. Who had orchestrated this abduction, and what did they want from him? The uncertainty gnawed at his core, leaving him to wonder if he would ever see the light of day again.
The sudden halt of the van jolted Martin from his thoughts, and he braced himself for what was to come. The doors flung open, and his captors dragged him out, their grip unyielding. He

senses.
As the man’s henchmen closed in, Martin’s heart raced with fear. “Please, let me go!” he pleaded, his voice trembling. “I’ll give you anything you want–money, property, whatever you desire. Just don’t hurt me!”
His cries fell on deaf ears as the large men grabbed him roughly, hauling him to his feet. They dragged him through the dank warehouse, his struggles proving futile against their brute strength.
Soon, they came upon a heavy metal door, which one of the men unlocked with a loud clang, With a rough shove, Martin was thrown to the ground, his body colliding with the cold concrete.
