MISTAKE 153
Chapter 153: Exposing Gina
“Don’t act so surprised, Gina,” Anya said, her voice dripping with contempt. “I know all about your affair. You’ve been raising another man’s son all these years while pretending to be such a perfect wife. It’s disgusting. You’re nothing but a fraud.”
Gina felt her knees go weak, and she had to grab the edge of the desk to steady herself. She’d thought no one knew about this secret. She’d guarded it so carefully for so many years. She looked at Martin nervously, terrified that he might believe what Anya was saying.
“That’s enough, Anya!” Martin shouted, his face red with fury. His fist clenched around the phone so tight his knuckles turned white. “You will not talk to your aunt that way! I won’t
stand for it!”
But Anya wasn’t finished with her devastating revelations. “Oh, and I know about what you did with the lawyer too,” she said accusingly, her voice as sharp as a knife. “How you secretly changed Dad’s power of attorney behind his back so you could control his shares. You’re horrible, both of you. Nothing but lying manipulators.”
Gina couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Her hands trembled as she sank into the nearest chair. She never thought Anya would discover so much about their carefully hidden secrets. Each word felt like another nail in the coffin of their family relationship.
“Watch your back, Martin,” Anya said with a chilling laugh that made both Martin and Gina shiver. “Accidents can happen at any time. Since she already paid the lawyer, this would be the perfect time for you to have an unfortunate accident then all your property would go straight to her. Don’t just take my word for it though – I’ll send you an email with proof of everything.”
Then Anya hung up, leaving Martin and Gina sitting in their study, surrounded by a heavy
silence..
Martin stared at Gina with a dark look on his face, still trying to understand everything Anya had just told them. Seeing Gina crying only made him more suspicious, but he still wasn’t sure what to believe.
“What was Anya talking about?” Martin asked in a cold voice, looking straight at Gina and waiting for her to explain.
Gina cried harder, her whole body shaking. “Anya hates me,” she said between sobs. “She’s just trying to break us apart.”
Martin looked over at their daughter Courtney, who stood nearby looking confused and worried. Could what Anya said be true? The thought made him feel sick to his stomach, and he couldn’t push away the doubt that was growing in his mind.
Looking back at Gina, Martin asked the question that was eating away at him. “Is Courtney my

daughter?” His words seemed to make the whole room go quiet.
Gina’s crying got even louder as she begged him to believe her. “Yes, Martin, she’s your daughter,” she said, her voice shaking. “I would never cheat on you.‘”
Courtney’s face showed how shocked and angry she felt. “How can you ask that, Dad?” she said, clearly hurt by the question. “Mom would never do anything like that!”
Martin’s jaw tightened as he tried to deal with all the feelings fighting inside him. He wanted to believe Gina was telling the truth. But Anya’s words had planted a seed of doubt that wouldn’t go away, making him question everything he thought he knew about his family.
“Gina, stop crying and give me a real answer,” Martin said firmly, getting tired of waiting.
Gina managed to calm down a little, looking at him with pleading eyes. “I swear, Martin, I’ve never been unfaithful,” she said, her voice still shaky. “Please believe me.”
–
Martin’s face softened a bit it hurt him to see his wife so upset. He wanted to trust her and make all these doubts go away. But the uncertainty was too strong, threatening to destroy
their marriage.
With a heavy heart, Martin got up and walked to the stairs, his mind in turmoil. Anya’s accusations had shaken him deeply, and now he had to figure out what was really true beneath all the lies and betrayal.
Alone in his office, Martin sat in his chair, thinking hard about everything. He knew he had to face Anya’s accusations head–on and find out the truth, no matter how painful it might be.
When Anya’s email finally arrived, he opened it right away. What he read almost gave him a heart attack. Not only had Gina been cheating, but their daughter the little girl he had loved with all his heart wasn’t really his.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Gina watched nervously as Martin went upstairs. She knew he might find out the truth from Anya’s email, and that scared her.
“Courtney, go to your room,” she said quickly, sounding desperate. When Courtney asked about their argument and why Dad had asked such a strange question, Gina lost her patience. Just go!” she yelled.
Scared by how her mother was acting, Courtney ran upstairs. As soon as she was gone, Gina grabbed her phone from the chair with shaking hands and quickly dialed a number.
When someone finally answered, Gina spoke in a frightened whisper. “We’ve been caught,” she said. “Martin knows about us.”
The person on the phone took a sharp breath. “How did he find out?” they asked, sounding worried.
Gina’s heart was beating so fast as she explained what happened. “Anya told him everything,” she said quietly. “She told him about how we bribed the lawyer.”
The person was quiet for a moment. “Stay calm,” they said in a soothing voice. “As long as Martin has his accident, our plan will still work.”
Gina nodded, trying to believe everything would be okay. After a few more encouraging words, they hung up, leaving Gina alone with her fears.
Her heart pounding, Gina ran up the stairs, desperate to do something. But before she could reach Martin’s office, he came out, looking angrier than she’d ever seen him.
Gina’s face went pale as she realized he knew everything. There was no way to hide the truth
anymore.
“Martin, please,” she begged, her voice shaking. But Martin wouldn’t listen.
“Pack your things,” he said coldly. “You’re leaving.”
Gina felt her heart break as his words sank in. She begged him to forgive her and give her another chance, but Martin’s heart had turned to stone. Her tears and pleading didn’t affect him at all.
Martin turned away from her, about to go downstairs and leave her behind. But Gina’s desperation took over.
With a cry, she pushed him as hard as she could. Martin fell forward, tumbling down the stairs before landing at the bottom, where he lay still and quiet.
Gina stared in horror at Martin’s body at the bottom of the stairs, finally understanding what she had done. She had crossed a line she could never uncross, and now she would have to face what happened because of her choices.
Meanwhile, at her house, Anya was relaxing on her comfortable couch when her phone rang. With a sigh, she answered the call from her sister Emma.
“Hello?” Anya said, her voice cold.
Emma spoke without any emotion. “Our Uncle has fallen down the stairs,” she said.
Anya’s mouth twisted into an ugly smile at the news. “Looks like our dear Aunt finally did what she planned,” she said nastily. “I really don’t care what happens to him.”
Emma’s voice shook with surprise at how mean Anya sounded. “I didn’t realize…” she started
to say.
“Yes, she’s been planning this for quite a while,” Anya cut in, waving her hand as if brushing away Emma’s concern. “Don’t feel sorry for him,” she said coldly. “I’ve already told our lawyers to watch
Gina carefully. If she tries to take any of Mom’s shares, we’ll know right away.”
