Chapter 8
Blinking my eyes a few times, I continued staring at my reflection in the mirror. My eyes had dark circles and even though I wasn't having my glasses on, still I could see how tired and exhausted I looked. It's only been a week since I shaved my head and I'm still not really used on to it. I liked my old hairstyle but when I went back home, my mother was shocked to see my new hairstyle and even kept on asking me why I shaved my head all of a sudden and all I could tell her was...Out of trend!
My father seemed to like my new hairstyle and told me that it was more of his style. He even told me about his college days and revealed that he used to have the same hairstyle back in those days. While, my younger sister, Amelia kept making fun of my new look and kept on calling me 'Baldy Bro' the whole week. I was tired and ended up returning back to London much to Jung's relief. And to top of that exams were on head.
So, finally much to my parents disapproval, I came back to London ready to face all the odds. A deep sigh escaped my mouth as I held my books in my hand and wore my new thick rimmed glasses before heading out of my room towards my classes.
As soon as I stepped my foot on the stairs of the building, I saw students who knew me looking my way. Some had shocked faces, while some gasped. Somewhere silently trying to hide their laugh because they knew why I had the new look while some simply looked my way and gossiped wanting to know what was the deal. That made me filled up with anticipation.
"Hey bud!" it was Jung who came in front of me all of a sudden startling me for a second. "What are you doing Jung?" I exclaimed as I adjusted my glasses and together we walked to our maths class.
"I knew that you are going to come back. After all the great genius Mr. Ace Knights can't afford to break his record of full attendance," he laughed and that made me roll my eyes on him. "Jung!" I stopped in my tracks as I looked at him and he looked back at me with a raised eyebrow.
"Do you think I don't understand you trying to divert my mind right now?" I said and he had a smug look plastered in his face as he shoved his hands in his pant pockets and walked forward. "As I said, the great genius Mr. Ace Knights," I heard him which made me chuckle.
"Ace?" half way between the class I heard someone calling my name and I looked to my left to find, Veronica looking my way. But the fact that the teacher was still in the class teaching made me look back at the board and I concentrated more on my studies thinking I would ask her what she wanted in the chemistry lab which was in the next period. But then involuntarily I found my head automatically turning towards her direction and I saw her playing with the pen in between her fingers and already looking out of the window.
"Ace," I heard Veronica as I was setting the graduated cylinder. I avoided eye contact even though I didn't know why I was doing that.
"Yes?" I asked acting as if I was busy.
"Where have you been these past days?" she asked and I inhaled deeply thinking that she noticed my absence.
"I went back to my country, to my house for some work," I told her and then looked at her to find her staring at me intently. All of a sudden I was shocked by my own height conspiracy.
How come I am in the same level as she is?
Wasn't she taller than me?
As I wondered about our height she seemed to notice the difference too as she looked at my head but then I remembered about my hairstyle and I turned my head to the other side, opening my notebook, reading something which was not even present.
"I wanted to return you your notebook."
"Here!" she said as she handed me my biology notebook which she had burrowed from me. Even though I didn't really need the notebook, still I took it back and nodded at her.
"Thanks again for helping me catch up with the studies,"
she said and i gave her a smile. "The exams are already over our head and I just finished all my classworks, now. Do you think you could help me with my studies too?" she asked and my head literally whipped to her direction. "With what subject, exactly do you want my help?"
"I would be really grateful if you could help me with every subject for now. I have a lot to catch up and I'm the type of person who can't really memorize without actually understanding it properly," she shrugged at the end with a small smile and I nodded.
"Alright, I will help you," I told her without even thinking and she gave me a small smile as she adjusted her lab coat and looked to the front.

Just from when did I start tutoring service?
"Ace?" I heard her when the teacher was checking student's attendance. "Yeah?"
"Just how long are you going to continue?" she asked out of the blue and her question confused me. "What do you mean?"
"Are you asking about the solution?" I asked as I looked back at the solution in the beaker. "Your patience fascinates me."
As she said that I found myself in a shock state as I stood there looking her way thinking about the words that she just used over and over again. The girl used a simple yet a strong sentence for me and like an ant strides towards sugar, I found myself drove towards her.
"By the way. This hairstyle looks goods on you," she said and all I could feel at that moment was blood rising up to my face and my ears going numb.
