The Babysitter

Chapter 22: Sheriff

Chapter 22: Sheriff

Chapter 22: (Xavier's POV)- Sheriff

"You have got to be kidding me," I groaned under my breath as Julie strutted up to us.

She eyed us suspiciously before speaking. "Hey, Xav. A-are you off house arrest?" she questioned me,

completely ignoring Aubrey's presence.

"Um- no actually, Aubrey got me out for today." I turned to Aubrey with a grin.

"How'd you manage to do that?" she scoffed, turning her attention to Aubrey.

"I just did, it comes with the charm." Aubrey flipped her hair mockingly, biting back a laugh while I did

the same.

Julie rolled her eyes and turned to me. "Wanna take a walk?" She batted her eyelashes at me.

"I already am." I held Aubrey's hand in mine before raising our hands, showing them off to Julie. Call

me a prick but she isn't any less of a bitch so I'd say it's fair.

"Suit yourself," she huffed. "Have fun, you two," she spoke sarcastically before brushing past us,

pushing us apart, and walking in the small distance she forcefully created between us.

Aubrey and I looked at each other in disbelief while biting back at laughter. "Stay tonight. Please?" I

pleaded with her as we began walking to the station to get my monitor back on. Yay, can't wait for that.

"I might just take you up on that. I brought my stuff cause my mom's working late, again," she huffed.

"Well let's just hope Will is gone by the time we get back," I sighed as we kept walking.

We walked into the station and were greeted by officer Clarke sitting at his desk, going through

previous files. Did I mention he's the sheriff but I call him officer Clarke to annoy him?

We walked in and over to his desk. "Office- sheriff Clarke," Aubrey greeted while glaring at me. "I'm

sorry, I wasn't aware you're the sheriff," she awkwardly explained while getting flustered.

He laughed before standing up. "It's alright. I'm sure you have him to thank for that," he glanced at me.

"Sheriff," I gave him a curt nod.

His eyes widened for a split second in surprise before he gave me an approving nod. "Ready to have

this back on?" he sighed while crouching down, swiftly snapping it back onto my right ankle.

"No but it's not like I have a choice," I sighed while shrugging.

"Hold on buddy, it's just the summer." He patted my shoulder before getting back to work.

"Thank you, have a great evening," Aubrey greeted before dragging me out of there. "You never told

me he was sheriff!" She slapped my arms repeatedly while locking her hand with mine.

"Oh, I didn't? My bad," I shrugged nonchalantly.

She looked at me with disbelief before scoffing and continuing to walk side by side with me. After about

five minutes, we reached my house much to my dismay, his car was still in the driveway.

"Ready?" she sighed while looking up at me.

"No. But you're here so yes." I looked down at her with a small smile before we walked through the

door to see my mom and Will sitting in the living room with an attorney sitting across from them.

"Thank you for the signatures, I'll give the dates as soon as possible." He gave my parents a friendly

smile before walking past Aubrey and me.

"Goodbye Will," my mom stood up as Will did too.

He sighed before shaking his head in disappointment. "I'm disappointed in how you've raised our son."

Who the fuck asked for his opinion?

"I don't remember asking for your opinion. It's not like you raised him at all so," my mom shrugged. "Get

out," she demanded and so he listened.

He grabbed his briefcase before glaring at Aubrey and me and heading right out, driving away, leaving

for good.

My mom sighed while rubbing her temples before turning to face us. "Ready for dinner, kids?" She

plastered on a fake smile before heading over to the kitchen.

"Mom, why don't you go over to Robert's for tonight again? He's getting off work early and Aubrey's

staying anyway," I suggested while shrugging.

"Would you two be okay with that? I mean I shouldn't because I've-"

"Mom, just go." I smiled at her while chuckling softly.

She let out a sigh of relief before grabbing her keys, phone, and bag before pressing a kiss to my

cheek and heading out.

"So..." Aubrey trailed off, pulling her hand out of my grip hesitantly.

"Did you mean what you said?" I questioned since it was bothering me for a while. I meant it when I

told her I liked her, I just wasn't sure if she did. Maybe it's because I've never had a real girlfriend, but

she just makes everything ten times better.

"Do you want me to mean what I said? Because I meant every word of it," she turned to me nervously.

"What are you so nervous about? I meant it, all of it. Did you? Because I totally understand if you don't

and-" she began ranting.

"I meant it! All of it. It's just that- I've never had such real and genuine feelings for a girl," I explained

awkwardly while blushing shyly.

Get a fucking grip, Xavier.

"Not for Kylie?" she asked quietly.

I just gently shook my head. "Not for Kylie, not for Julie, not for anyone," I clarified.

"Well, I like you. Whether they genuinely did or not is none of my business, but I do," she huffed while

walking over to the kitchen while I followed her.

"Pizza? I'm too lazy to cook." I sighed.

She nodded before pulling her phone out of her pocket and ordering pizza. I stood in front of her, with

my hands resting on the counter, besides either side of her waist as she thanked the person taking the

order before hanging up and placing her phone on the counter.

She sighed, "I'm tired." Her eyes fluttered shut while she blinked.

I took a deep breath in before wrapping my arms around her thighs, picking her up, and seating her on

the countertop.

She blushed while resting her hands in her lap, fiddling with them ever so slightly.

I clicked my tongue before taking her hands in mine and placing them around my neck. "Breathe." I

rested my hands on the small of her back, pulling her closer to me.

Sitting on the countertop she was closer to my height, looking straight into my eyes.

"Thank you for today, you saved me," I whispered while she rested her head against my shoulder.

"Anytime," she whispered back with a sigh before looking up at me. A small smile found its way to her

lips while I tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"I lose my mind when I'm with you," I whispered while she let out another tired sigh.

"I know you want to, so just, kiss me anytime." she grinned at me goofily.

I chuckled softly before tilting her chin up, before leaning in and softly pressing my lips to hers for a

moment. I pulled away with a grin of my own as she smiled. We sat in silence for about five minutes

until I spoke up again. "I should have kissed you longer," I admitted.

She let out a small laugh before hooking her hands around my neck, pulling me in for another kiss. This

one lasted a little longer, only a little.

We sat there and talked about things, she told me about how she's convinced that Violet and Ace are

gonna be together before they get back or as soon as they get back since Violet happens to see Ace

wherever she goes. I told her about how Ace doesn't shut up about Vi either, I swear to god can they

just admit their feelings to each other already?

I'm so tired of hearing him talk about her dreamily. I can't deny though, I respect him being committed

even just to a crush.

"Pizza's here," she spoke, snapping me out of my thoughts before hopping off the counter and getting

the door while I got out my money.

"Peter?" she asked in confusion.

"Excuse me, I need to talk to you."

I walked over to see Peter pushing past the delivery guy and stepping onto my porch.

"You're not allowed in here." I got next to Aubrey on time to block his path.

"Well, I only need to talk to her, just for a minute," he glared at me.

I looked down to see Aubrey giving me a reassuring look. Trusting her, I went up to my room.
