Chapter 8: In and out
Chapter eight
When Bonnie got back inside her room, it was late into the night.
After much persuasion, Rowan retired into his chamber with the motive of seeing Bonnie’s father the next day.
Bonnie laid on the bed and sobbed afresh. She felt so sick inside that she might just take a knife and kill the Alpha in his sleep.
But if only that was simple. For an Omega like her, it seemed like a thing next to impossibility.
One thing that was so surprising to Bonnie was the fact that she doesn’t hate Xavier as much as she should.
For someone that has done so much bad for her and her family, she was supposed to hate him and even be planning on revenging him.
Funnily enough, Bonnie’s feeling was far from that. And that she hated but she couldn’t stop crushing on the Alpha.
All she wanted at that time was to make him happy. And to do that, she needed to find his mate.
But first, she needed to see her parents and let them know she was alive.
The door opened slowly and quietly. Bonnie got up and looked at Elixir.
“We have to leave now,” she said and walked out.
Bonnie rushed after her. They walked for a while, down the stairs.
They took another turn and continued down the stairs.
Bonnie walked closer to some guards sleeping on duty. Skeptical, she looked up at Elixir.
“I gave them some sleeping pills,” Elixir replied hurriedly before sliding down the stairs. She stopped and looked back at Bonnie, “Hurry up!”
Bonnie nodded once and advanced towards the familiar cage. Fresh tears stung her eyes as she stared at her mother asleep in the cage, and her father drawing something on the floor.
Bonnie squatted in front of him, afraid of even calling him a father, someone she had joined others to lie against. Bonnie felt terrible and like an unfilial daughter.
Brook looked up slowly, his eyes widening as he stared at Bonnie. For a while, he thought she was Gwen but the tears gave her away, “Bonnie?” He called, unsure if he guessed right.
Bonnie nodded slowly, the tears rushed out the more.
Brook reached out for his hand, before looking up at her, “I heard you were dead.”
Bonnie let out a sigh and sobbed the more.
Her mother turned and looked at Bonnie. Upon seeing her, she got up, “Bonnie!”
Bonnie looked over at her face, there were dried tears on her cheeks. It seemed like her mother couldn’t stop crying.
“What happened? I thought Xavier killed you?”
Bonnie shook her head slightly, ” He didn’t because he needed me. I’ve been pretending to be Gwen for a few days now.”
Annie started sobbing, ” I’m so sorry my daughter. I’m really sorry!”
Bonnie shook her head negatively and reached for her mother’s hand, “I’m the one who’s sorry. I’ve done something I shouldn’t have but I promised to find the proof that you are innocent.”
Brooks gave his daughter a skeptical look, unsure of what she meant or what she was thinking of.
Bonnie looked over at him, “I plan to find the real Gwen. I will find her and free you of all the charges. I know I’m an Omega but I will surely make you proud.”
Annie managed a smile and patted her hand softly, ” I’ve always been proud of you. It doesn’t matter what you are. I am proud to have you.”
Bonnie looked over at her and nodded once, satisfied that his mother understood her.
“Is there anything we need to do?”
Bonnie looked back at him, ” Yes. Firstly, I want you to take note of anyone that comes inside this prison. And don’t take any food from the guards, I will supply you with what you will eat. The kidnappers might want to poison you if he or she finds out that Xavier is unwilling to kill you anytime soon.”
” We can do that, anything else?”
Bonnie swallowed harder, “Alpha is coming here tomorrow with me. He thinks I’m Gwen and he thought you kidnapped me. No matter what he says, please don’t get angry.”
Annie smiled faintly, ” we can also do that.”
Bonnie patted her parent’s hands slightly, she smiled too, satisfied she has an understanding parent, “I promise to get you out soon.”
When Bonnie walked out of the dungeon, her mind was in a daze. She wondered how she could resolve it all.
There was no point in presenting the note to Xavier because he would never believe it. She needed something concrete. Something that won’t leave any room for doubt.
She stopped in front of her room and glanced at Elixir, “You can go back now, I will handle myself.”
Elixir bowed and walked away.
Bonnie sighed. Even though her parents weren’t among the high authorities or the Billionaires, Bonnie had never suffered.
Even though Brook had decided to stay in the forest side, Bonnie had never suffered. She had never felt being an Omega was ever a problem. But now, she realized with a pang of sadness that it was a problem and a curse.
Maybe she would have been stronger if she was an Alpha or a beta. Why did she have to be an Omega?
Bonnie sobbed again. Would she ever stop crying? Would she?
She closed her eyes against the tears sipping out of them. She knew she needed to be strong, for herself and her parents. Any mistake and they would be killed.
Bonnie opened her eyes and turned the knob, opening the door. Though, she remembered leaving the room in light. Now, it was pitch darkness.
She shrugged the thought away and switched on the light.
She turned around and gasped. Her body shuddered uncontrollably as she stared at the back of the man that had put her into the mess she was currently in.
“Xavier_’ her voice came out croaked and dried.
” Have you been crying?” He inquired, voice thick and frightening.
How did he know? Bonnie wondered but didn’t answer.
“Bonnie,” he called softly and turned to look at her. The dark frown was on his face as usual, “I will appreciate it if you don’t continue to play with my tail!” His eyes almost drilled holes in Bonnie’s face.
She looked away, ” I don’t know what you are talking about,” even her voice gave her away.
Suddenly, Xavier was near, his cologne surrounded Bonnie like the breeze around the flowers in spring. His hands reached to tilt her head up to look at him.
Bonnie saw his eyes and shuddered again. Her heart raced in her chest.
“What did you have in mind going into my dungeon? Do you think I won’t know everything that you are doing?” His voice turned deeper and Bonnie wondered if it was going to be getting deeper and deeper.
He clenched his teeth angrily, and released Bonnie violently. Bonnie lost her balance and fell to the floor, “Don’t try on my patience, Bonnie. I can kill you and your parents with this stance.”
” Why can’t you make your investigation before you judge?” Bonnie said softly, ” Do you think you will find your mate if you kill my parents?”
Xavier suddenly took her off the ground. He rushed to the bed and pinned her down by the neck,” I can kill you right now Bonnie!”
Bonnie stared and fought for air, her hands hitting him slightly so he would release her but it seemed like a futile effort. With his gaze, Bonnie knew he meant every word. Xavier could kill her at that moment and get it done with.
Nothing would happen.
But she was scared of dying. She doesn’t want to die just yet.
Bonnie finally felt the air seep out of her. She could not even bring herself to fight Xavier again. It seems she was going to die eventually.
“Fuck!” Xavier spat and let her go suddenly. Bonnie drew in lots of air and coughed severally.
Xavier was still over her, his deadly look over her body, “if I find you uselessly flopping around, then I will kill you!”
He got up and moved towards the door, ” This is the last mercy I will ever grant you. I will not go so easy on you the next time. And if you try anything funny with Rowan, I will kill you!” He finished and walked out
Bonnie started sobbing again. Was she done for?
Would she ever be able to save her parents? Would she even be able to save herself? It all seemed so hard for her.
What should she do?
