Chapter 5: Caught
Xavier watched her for a moment, at her slightly opened mouth, the terror and fear in her eyes as she stared at him.
He pulled away quickly and sat. His muscles have flexed suddenly. He was almost confused. He thought it was Gwen.
He almost kissed Bonnie thinking it was Gwen. He almost did what he was used to doing with Gwen, with Bonnie.
He couldn’t stop, he couldn’t stop remembering her mate and the fact that Bonnie’s father was the one that got her kidnapped. How then could he be there and be thinking of kissing his daughter?
He should have her killed if it wasn’t for the fact that he needed her to be Gwen pending the time he find Gwen.
Damn! He can’t wait to be back in Gwen’s arms. He missed her so much.
Xavier stood up and walked to the door. He wouldn’t take it! He wouldn’t continue sleeping in a traitor’s room. The more he stayed so close to her, the more hatred he felt towards her. And it woild only stop with one thing.
That was when his mate walk into his mansion.
Xavier held the knob and turned it slightly, “Rowan will be here tomorrow morning, be prepared,” he finished without a second glance at her.
He opened the door and walked out.
Bonnie released the air she didn’t even know she was keeping.
She got down from the bed and went to her shelf. She picked a book and flipped the pages to the middle, where the note her father gave her was kept.
She sighed and perused the note. If only she could get her hands on the real culprit and find Gwen.
Well, she has been monitored in and out these days. Elixir told her she would only be free to do so after her parents visited.
But Bonnie wasn’t even sure if Xavier would spare her after the visit.
She felt so miserable about it all.
And Alpha Rowan was supposed to arrive in three days. Why would he be arriving tomorrow?
It doesn’t even make any sense. But then, Xavier told her they needed to quench the rumors. Could it be that Alpha Rowan thoght she might not be the Gwen that he knows?
How then was she expected to pass the phrase?
Bonnie cupped her face in her hands and cried harder.
She was done for.
.
Just like Xavier had expected, Rowan brought many soldiers more than he should.
If he already suspected that his cousin wasn’t in Xavier’s mansion, that meant he might be planning on starting war immediately in Xavier’s mansion.
Xavier had to arrange a little housewarming for Rowan.
When Rowan arrived, he was informed that his cousin was dressing up and he should go and wait for her in the hall.
The party was a small one and very bright. The hall was decorated and songs were playing in the background when Rowan and his trusted werewolves walk in.
Xavier was the next person that arrived and walked in with Wesley.
He greeted Rowan just before the elders would walk in.
It was the rule that all the elders of any pack must be out to greet the Alpha in their territory. It was a law that came with a punishment.
After the usual greetings, every one of them stood at their post.
Only Bonnie’s seat was empty.
Rowan looked over at Xavier, Where’s my sister?”
Xavier looked at him with a wide grin, “Dressing, I think?”
The music changed the atmosphere and got them waiting for another thirty minutes.
Rowan was getting worried, same as Xavier. Sure, the dressing wouldn’t take so long, or would it?
Xavier waved a hand at Wesley and he walked closer to Xavier. He bent so that Xavier would be able to whisper into his ears, “Find out what is happening and what Bonnie is doing in all this while.”
Wesley made a curt nod and moved towards the door but it opened suddenly.
“Mrs. Harrison Gwen nee Evan,” a loud voice announced and Bonnie walked in, with Elixir behind her.
Xavier held his breath. Any mistake and the plan would get ruined.
Bonnie walked majestically towards the seats of the elders where the elders and the Alphas were.
She stopped before them all and made a bow, a curt bend as a sign of respect for them all. She looked up at Rowan and smiled wilder, “Do you miss me so much that you had to come earlier than scheduled?”
Rowan laughed, ” Of course, I do!”
Xavier lets out an exasperated sigh, Bonnie has done it alright. Rowan has been deceived.
Rowan stood and walked to her. He pulled her into a bear hug, “How have you been?” He pulled back again and stared all over her amazingly, “Where did you get all this fat?”
Bonnie laughed, ” Come on Rowan, stop embarrassing me! Xavier dashed me little on his arm!” Her reply was funny. She stared up at Xavier. Their gaze met and held briefly.
When Xavier smiled back at her, Rowan burst out into fresh laughter, “My sister is always funny.”
Bonnie looked back at Rowan, “How was the trip. I hope you are not stressed?”
Rowan shook his head negatively, “I feel very much alife for seeing you,” his gaze moved swiftly from her face, to her neck. The face that held a wild smile suddenly forms a dark frown, “Where’s the necklace?”
Bonnie raised a skeptical brow, “What necklace?”
Rowan watched her for a moment, ” The necklace I gave you?”
Bonnie swallowed harder, Xavier’s grip on the chair hardened.
Bonnie quickly thought of what to say, “I lost it!” Bonnie said suddenly, ” I lost it when I went hunting with Xavier yesterday. I told you, Xavier, didn’t I?” She turned her head towards Xavier again.
Xavier stood and walked to them, ” Yes you did love,” he said and looked at Rowan, “Why don’t you get some rest now?”
Rowan didn’t respond, in fact, he wasn’t looking at anyone of them. He seemed to be in deep thought. When he finally looked up, his gaze found Bonnie’s.
“Why did I give you that necklace?”
“Eh?” Bonnie fumbled for what to say. She and Xavier quickly realize Rowan was trying to find out if she was the real Gwen.
And he was going to get what he wanted because she doesn’t know what he was asking him.
Xavier looked at Bonnie, his eyes pleading or maybe they were just pitiful.
Bonnie looked at Rowan again, “I can’t remember,” she said and looked away, silently begging Xavier to come to her rescue.
“Gwen had a great fall that took away her memories,” Xavier interceded for her.
Rowan watched Xavier for a while as if he couldn’t quite believe what he had just said.
He looked back at Bonnie, “How old am I?”
Bonnie smiled now, “Almost five hundred.”
Rowan chuckled bitterly and looked away, “You said she lost her memories, how then did she know my age?” A smirk was on his face
He whirled to look at his guards, ” She’s not Gwen! Take her.”
Bonnie felt her pulse increased. She has just been caught.
Xavier had to cuss underneath his breath.
That’s it! The war would start immediately.
What would she do? No! What would they do to her?
