The Alpha's Mate Is A Spy

Chapter 35: Car Seat

Chapter 35: Car Seat

~*~*~

*DEREK's POV*

Seeing that she didn't complain as I soothed her back, I realized that she wasn't that indifferent towards

me after all. The nightmare she saw must be too much for her that she was even willing to lean on me.

She just laid on my chest silently, not uttering a word.

Just what did she see that she'd go as far as to tell me not to trust her? After a while of staying in that

position. I glanced at the clock and noticed that it was almost time to go.

"Venus?" I whispered.

She didn't respond.

"...You got to wake up now. Don't you have anything to pack anymore?"

She groans, shaking her head.

"Then..." I trailed off, "Shouldn't you at least shower?"

"Are you saying I smell?"

"No, it's a routine. Why do you have to take everything I say so negatively?"

She scoffs in disbelief, "I doubt that. The first time we met, you said I smelled bad, remember?"

She's talking about the day when she signed up for the competition. I frowned. At that time, she didn't

smell bad at all. It was just because there was a man's scent was all over her body. But I wasn't going

to tell her that.

"I forgot,"

"You keep calling me a liar, but look at you lying without batting an eyelid." She slightly pulls away,

pinning her gaze on me. "Since we both have to shower, why not just do it together?"

I coughed excessively and fought the arousal exploding under me. Just why does this woman always

say stuff like this?! I'm barely fighting the urge to punish her for teasing me like this.

Damn it.

I flicked her forehead, "Stop joking around. Are you gonna shower or not?"

She pouts and glares at me. She caressed the middle spot on her forehead where I just hit her and

grumbled slightly, "You're such a killjoy."

As she pulled away from my embrace, I couldn't help but crave her touch where she just left. I gazed at

her back as her scent remained on my body. She didn't even bother looking back as she strode

towards the bathroom.

I sighed, feeling pathetic.

~*~*~

"Where are you sitting?" I asked when I saw that Venus tried to get on the mini van's back seat, my

hands on her elbow. She just shrugged me off.

"Where else? I'm sitting with Jojo."

"Why? You can sit beside me while I drive."

"Why are you even driving? Last time I checked, we aren't short on omegas."

"This is more convenient...so just go and sit beside me. Okay?"

"Why should I?" She raises an eyebrow. Her arm crossed as she showed displease. "Why are you

acting so close? if you're going to act like this, you should've just showered with-"

In impulse, my hand was quick to cover her mouth in a hurry. Since her whole squad was listening to

the conversation, I couldn't help but protect her reputation.

"MHmmm!" She squirms, looking at me like I was the crazy person between us.

I leaned on her ear, letting out a whisper. "Are you crazy?! Don't talk like this in front of your squad.

What if they misunderstand you?"

She glares and pushes my palm away as she settles herself quietly at the backseat between Noah and

Jojo. When my eyes met theirs, they were quick to look away.

I grumbled in annoyance. "Beta...Are you sure you don't want to sit beside me?"

She just gave me the silent treatment. Looking away at the window beside her, she just responded by

closing her eyes in a hurry. In the end, Easton sat beside me.

["Just let it go for now, Alpha Derek. You wouldn't want to expose your relationship to the whole squad,

right?"] Easton mindlinks me.

["Fine."]

I sighed. A bit irritated that she's acting so moody again, I just listened to Easton and drove. While on

the road, I couldn't help but steal glances in her direction. I don't understand why she can't seem to

understand my intentions. She's supposed to be smart, yet she keeps on boldly provoking me like this.

I really hate this feeling.

"Alpha!"

As I snapped back to reality, My eyes widened when I realized that I almost hit a cow in front of me.

Thankfully Easton was quick to move the steering wheel for me.

I let out a sigh. That was a close one.

"Can you at least take us safely to Stone City? If I knew you'd just try to kill us, then I shouldn't have

agreed to this stupid meeting with the packs." She says in a mocking tone.

There she goes again.

"Beta... watch your language when talking to your alpha," I warned in a low voice. Though I didn't really

mean it, I at least wanted to save face.

Yet, she still misunderstood it and exploded.

"Or what?!"

I flinched in fear.

Why is she so angry? I was at the end of my wits as i couldn't understand her the longer we talked.

Even the guys were confused as to why she was acting so angry at me. Is it really because of the

shower issue?

"Okay.... let's all calm down and take deep breaths?" Easton cuts in. "We wouldn't want another

accident right?"

"Yeah, why are you guys fighting anyway? and why is alpha losing?" Jojo chuckles.

"Shut up kid, don't humiliate Alpha Derek!" Noah argues.

"I'm not a kid! I'm 16!"

"Exactly, you're a minor! how many times do we have to go through this?!"

"Can you all just shut up?" Liam groans as he tries his best to sleep in his own space. Noah, seeing

that as a threat, grabs Liam's collar from in front and growls.

Noah smirks, "What if I don't want to?"

I was about to stop the commotion when we all felt a thick bloodlust surrounding Venus's body. Her

eyes had already darkened to some extent as the veins in her neck showed her emotion. Everyone

noticed it immediately, so they quickly shut their mouths. Even Noah was intimidated by her energy

since he slowly glued himself to the opposite side away from Venus.

I chuckled.

Yet my smile disappeared when I saw a familiar person standing in the middle of the road.

"Isn't that... Alpha Seff?" Easton gasps.
