Stuck In The Wrong Marriage

Chapter 76

Happy reading..

All her life Elena wanted was to marry Jayden. Almost every day Elena imagined how happy she would be if she were married to Jayden, the man she loved so much. Jayden himself had promised Elena that happy life so that there was not the slightest doubt. But, who would have thought that the marriage, which had only been running for a few weeks, would actually make Elena end up crying bitterly at the end of a small bridge leading to the lake. The silence of the place was so perfect that Elena’s soul that was shackled by pain could be released.

Her long legs dangle touching the surface of the water causing ripples of waves there.

“What kind of woman am I to you, Jayden?” Elena softly held her chest until the clothes she was wearing were crumpled. It really hurts when someone you trust so much throws harsh words. Better Elena just disappear from this world. After all, she doesn’t have anyone anymore except Jayden. And if it was Jayden who had given up on her, then who else would Elena be holding out for.

The woman closed her eyes causing the tears that had been accumulating in her eyes to fall down her cheeks.

The shadow is back. Piece by piece haunts Elena to form a complete memory. Memories that Elena really wanted to bury deep inside.

**Flashback**

“Akh!” Elena winced as her body hit the asphalt with trash scattered everywhere. It was hard enough for her body to crash into the yard of the house she, ah no, meant the one her mother had rented to live in.

“Where’s your fucking mother, huh!” snapped the woman in fancy dress pointing at Elena’s face. The woman who also dragged Elena who was sleeping soundly to the front of the house.

Elena turned her head blankly. “I don’t know,” she answered flatly and got up, not caring about her bleeding knee.

“How could you not know! You’re that bitch’s daughter,” the woman snapped tightly holding Elena’s small arm.

Elena chuckled lightly as if mockingly. “Just so you know, I never thought of her as my mother again.” Her brown eyes started to heat up and turn red. “I NEVER THOUGHT OF HER AS MY MOTHER SINCE SHE MARRIED YOUR HUSBAND!” Elena shouted so loudly that the middle-aged woman’s grip was released.

Elena sat up with the sound of crying getting louder. She’s like a child who lost her candy. It’s sad that some people who saw it just sat there, busying themselves with their activities. No one cares. The woman just now also just walked away after throwing harsh words at Elena.

“Sob… sob… sob… I even regret having a mother like her,” Elena whispered sadly but full of hatred.

She don’t know how long Elena was in that position until she finally got up from there with the crying that had subsided, dragging her heavy body into the house. T-shirts and shorts that are actually worn out look even more shabby. The traces of the dirt that stuck to the woman’s actions could be seen so clearly. Elena didn’t care. After all, she’s also going to take a shower. The woman continued her unsteady steps towards the bathroom which was only big enough for one person.

After that, Elena got ready to go to college. There is nothing to be proud of in Elena’s life unless she finishes college and then finds a decent job. Perhaps fate would have been different. Elena really expected that.

The woman who is now clad in a white t-shirt and blue shirt combined with long jeans is preparing all the equipment on the table when the main door opens. Elena’s reflex turned and found the figure that made her publicly humiliated again today.

Melia, Elena’s mother’s name, was busy taking out her shoes. Putting some of the paper bags she was carrying on the table then approached Elena.

“You’re going to college?” Melia asked her daughter with a sweet smile.

Elena didn’t answer her mother’s question and instead accelerated her movement of putting all the books into her bag.

“Elena?” called Melia with a persuasive tone.

“Mama still meet that man?” asked Elena making Melia’s hand that had been stretched out wanting to touch Elena’s shoulder return to its place.

“Of course. After all, he is Mama’s husband… your father,” Melia answered.

Elena chuckled as if mocking what Melia had just said.

Father? Even Elena had never considered the man her father. For Elena the man was just a stranger who had stolen from her mother.

“Why don’t Mama just sell herself, huh?” asked Elena looking intently at Melia.

“Elena!” Melia’s voice rose slightly. She couldn’t believe her daughter could say that to her.

“I’m sick of all this, Ma. Every day Mama’s husband’s first wife always comes here. Beats and humiliates me because Mama takes her husband.”

Elena’s tears started to build up in her eyes. While Melia could only move with her body trembling. She knew that but Melia chose to remain silent.

“Why, Ma?” asked Elena approaching Melia. “Why do you have to become a second wife? Are there no other men who are more suitable for you to marry? Why do you have to be a married man? WHY?!”

PLAKK!!!

Instead of getting an answer, Elena, who was only twenty years old at that time, actually received a hard slap from Melia.

Silence fell on the room. They seem to be trapped in a stopped space and time.

Elena wiped her tears roughly. She glanced at Melia briefly before walking away without saying anything else. Melia did not hold back her daughter’s steps. The woman was silent for a thousand languages with tears also running down both cheeks. Even though Melia’s goal was to ask Elena to live with her, seeing Elena’s attitude, Melia knew that her daughter would not accept the invitation.

Elena gulped down the coke in the can almost halfway.

“This is to compress your face,” someone said, handing Elena a bag of ice cubes.

“Thank you, Jay,” Elena said with a faint smile as she took the ice cube and put it directly on her face.

Jayden, a man who has been her lover since entering college, sat beside her. They have known each other since middle school but have only been dating after graduation until now. The man looked at Elena’s worried face. How could the woman’s face not be red with the edges of the lips slightly blue.

“That woman came again?” Jayden asked taking a wound salve out of his bag.

“She comes almost every day,” Elena answered in an irritated tone.

Jayden took the white salve onto his fingertips and rubbed it lightly on the edges of Elena’s injured lips. Elena winced slightly feeling the cold and stinging sensation from the ointment when it came into contact with her skin.

“Elena?” Call Jayden.

“Ya?”

“Should I do something about your father’s first wife?”

To be continue….
