Briana POV
“I thought I made it clear that I don’t want to see you again.” Ho hissed.
“If so, why did you come to the interview this afternoon, knowing I would be there?” I could not help the reort that escaped my lips.
I wanted to let Noah know that I’ve changed. I was not the old pushover Briana he could string along.
“I was informed that I would be questing with Briana Ford. How would I know it was you? I was not informed you remarried.” Now, The sounded defensive, and it brought me a little bit of satisfaction. at the knowledge.
“I didn’t know you wanted to keep tabs on my life.” I retorted sarcastically.
The edges of Noah’s mouth tightened, telling me he was not taking my barb well.
“What are you doing here? Why did you come here?” Noah’s eyes narrowed into slits as suspicion laced his voice.
I snorted at the abrasiveness in his tone. What an egotistical man!
“I certainly did not come here for you. You drove me away.” I snarled.
“You should have stayed away.” He barked back.
“Your marketing department invited the Fords, and here we are.” I shrugged.

You’ll Get Burned
He snickered in response. I thought he would let it drop, but he
attacked me again.
“You even have the audacity to flaunt your man. I am sure Ford did
not know about your modus of stringing a man along for his wealth. It’s just too bad for you that I caught on, right?”
His accusation was uncalled for.
Without thinking, my hand flew and connected his cheek, surprising us both.
“You have no right to accuse me of something I am not.” I spat out.
My chest heaves in anger. How I have hated this man for making me suffer.
Noah massaged his cheek and laughed mockingly at me. “Why? Because the truth hurts?” He whispered. His voice sounded hard.
“You are a veritable liar, Briana Johnson. You are contemptible. Evil.” He emphasized each word, looking into my eyes.
I took a deep breath and forced a smile to my face. Noah’s every word was like a knife thrust into my chest, making it bleed.
But I wouldn’t for the life of me allow Noah Hunter to witness my pain.
“Aren’t you talking about yourself? Don’t try foisting off your
crimes on me. If five years ago, I let you trample on me and my dignity, now I will fight you tooth for tooth, Noah Hunter, and I will never rest until I get the justice I deserve.”
Despite trembling all over, I turned around to leave him.

I I grabbed at something and clutched on Noah’s shirt.

The way his lips devoured me made me forget everything and just concentrate on the kiss he was giving me.
Every glide of his lips and tongue spoke of anger, and I responded equally.
My hands continued to grip his shirt while he hitched me up to make us closer. I stood on tiptoe but did not notice because I was too caught up in the sensation of his lips on mine.
Hunger swirled in my stomach, and I could feel small electric shocks all over my body.
It’s been too long since I had any man. Noah was my first and last.
“Noah! Noah!” I heard a woman call his name, and he promptly pulled away.

him.
“I had been looking everywhere for you!” I heard a feathery voice at my back.
did not turn around for fear that my knees would give way, but Noah pulled his eyes off me to transfer hittention to someone at my back.

“Your uncle is looking for us. She told him without acknowledging my presence
The snub was good. I do not want confrontations. When I felt that I could finally lift my legs to walk away, I did.
Hanna met me halfway and half–dragged me to the restroom.
Once the door to the restroom closed on us, she faced me and demanded. “What do you think you are doing, Briana? Don’t play with fire or you’ll get burned in the end.”
