Are the triplets yours?
In La Rinconera, the Narrator:
Mirelys, once she heard her mother on the phone, who reminded her of the economic crisis the vineyards were going through, reflected on her decision to leave the hacienda. It was difficult for her to accept another humiliation from Rafael, even if it was from the man she liked the most.
However, just the thought that they might declare bankruptcy and that their friends might find out about it, made her shudder and bend her will.
-All right, for the record, I’m only doing it for you! she replied, passing the cell phone to Camila, returning to park the van and looking with envy and suspicion at the van that Rafael was driving, the seven-seater Range Rover, owned by her guest.
-You did the right thing! Daughter,” Camila said, happy that she hadn’t left. She is not willing to let her son marry any woman he gets on the road.
“Don’t be angry with your mother! -She, like me, wants the best for you,” Camila murmured.
-I want you to understand something, Camila, even though I love your son like no one else, I am not willing to tolerate his rudeness and humiliations! -she complained.
-Don’t give up so easily. I am convinced that he is Rafael’s client. You’ll see how tomorrow they’ll leave and he’ll be left, totally at your disposal,” she argued, accompanying her back to her room.
Sofia:
When we reached the upper part of the hacienda, Anastasia led my mother and me to the children’s bedroom. When the children entered, they ran to where the nutritious treats were, which someone had placed there.
-Is this for us? -asked Rafael Angel, showing the nutritional bar of oatmeal, cereal and chocolate to Aunt Anastasia, “May I call you Aunt Anastasia? As my namesake calls you,” asked my son.
-Of course you can! To the two things you asked me,” Anastasia answered with a smile, surprised and touched by him.
-My God! Son, it is disrespectful to impose that way of calling the lady. You should call her, Mrs. Anastasia,” corrected Sofia.
“Excuse me, Mrs. Anastasia! -Sofia said, embarrassed, “Normally, my children are not so bold. I don’t understand, what’s wrong with them? They have reacted as familiarly to you, as to their nephew Rafael,” I clarified.
-Don’t worry, it’s no bother. They have me amazed and surprised because their vocabulary, response and actions are of children older than their age -Rafael’s aunt added.
-Thank you! Your pediatrician always ends up explaining what you just said,” Estefania said with a smile.
-And that is worthy of pride and happiness, not apology,” added Anastasia. Here you have a bathroom. In the room on the left side is Estefania’s room and on the right side is Sofia’s room -explained Sofia, leaving them alone, so they could have more privacy.
Rafael:
Once everyone was placed in their respective rooms, changing in my room after the bath, I received Aunt Anastasia.
Rafael: -Ask, I know you like I know me! -he clarified, as he watched her enter her bedroom.
-Are the triplets yours? -she asked, serious, direct and worried.
-What more could I wish for! No, unfortunately they are not mine,” I exclaimed sadly.
-And then, what’s this extraordinary resemblance to you? -she asked me doubtfully.
-No, I know! But I was the first one shocked when I saw them, heard them and watched them walk, because even in that they look like me. They are my living representation, from a few years ago,” I added, clarifying my aunt’s doubts.
“I had never seen their mother before, I only met her a few days ago,” I argued.
-They look too much like you. And the mark, do you know if they have your genetic mark? -she questioned again.
-No, I don’t know. That’s more delicate aunt, how do I ask you if the children have any mark? So far, I haven’t slept with her,” I questioned.
– “This is too real and true, for it to be just a coincidence,” she expounded, deep in thought shaking her head from side to side.
“They are beautiful, educated, intelligent, wise like you. Besides the physical resemblance, and you notice that the one in the middle has the peculiar gesture of your mother.
-Ha ha ha! Yes, I noticed that too. By the way, aunt, is Sofia mad at me, because of Mirelys? -I asked.
-No idea! Although anyone gets angry, if she was invited as a candidate for an affair and ended up being identified as a client, don’t you think? -she questioned me.
-Aunt! I couldn’t figure out what to do to get that toxic woman to let me go. Besides, I didn’t want her to go near the triplets,” I said.
-You’re right about that! But since she feels protected by your mother, she does whatever she wants here,” she said.
-To avoid them and to keep them from bothering Sofia and Estefania, I’ll order the food to be served near the pool, do you think so? -she asked me.
-Yes, Aunt! Please, I don’t want to have another embarrassing moment like the one we had a while ago,” I said, concerned about Sofia’s angry look a few minutes ago.
After this conversation with Aunt, we were all called to lunch. The food was delicious, just right and up to the standards of my guests. The children wanted to get into the pool, but Sofia did not allow it because she had not come prepared for this.
She claimed that her children do not enter the pool or the beach alone without her. Later, at lunch, I was finally able to have a pleasant conversation with Sofia without so much noise.
-Can I steal you for a few minutes? -I asked. “The triplets are your protectors, not just anyone can get close to you,” I commented close to her ear.
-Heh, heh, heh! They are jealous,” she said, “But you, you won them over from the day of the inauguration. They haven’t taken your picture off their tablets since that day.
-They know that the love and admiration I feel for them is sincere,” I confessed without a filter.
-Rafael, I thank you for this invitation, for the reception, the rooms are so nice that they envy nothing to a seven star hotel,” she said, with a smile that melted my heart and what is not my heart as well.
-I want you to feel like a queen. My house is also yours -I pointed out intimidated by her extraordinary beauty- It will always be at your disposal whenever you want to come with your whole family…
