Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Now I know how wrong I was,
But if you say you forgive,
I promise I won't judge you gain,
Please give me another chance in your life,
Because I'm no perfect after all,
I'm down on my knees,
I know.
Chris finished singing the last part of his new song and walked out of the booth. He was at studio
recording his audio with his producer and so far, everything was going so well but there was something
that was a mess in his life. If only...
"That was so emotional," said his producer getting up from his seat. "Wanna talk about it?"
Of course, he did want to talk about it. Talk about his one past month of silent treatment from his own
wife. She said nothing to him and neither did she spare even a glance to him. And that, that bothered
him way way too much than he cared admit.
He didn't know why, but every time she came home she ate nothing instead, she would go straight to
their bedroom and when he followed her to ask her to go down stairs to grab her food to eat, she would
just walk to the bathroom and get changed. After wards, she would either go out or sleep on the floor
despite him telling her every day that she could take a couch.
Chris knew he brought this upon himself but he was sorry. He was sorry for his silly moves and for his
thinking. But from that day he had changed and she could see that. She could tell it since he didn't stop
her from going out with Leonel. He didn't even ask when she came past midnight.
All he wanted was for them to be friends. He wanted another chance with her. He wanted to start all
over again but it's like she doesn't exist in his life. She doesn't even acknowledge him when he is
around anywhere she is and it really hurts him. It does.
So for the past one month, he thought of draining his sorrow in his music. Yes, music. It wasn't his best
talent but what other way to let it out? It was his only way to let go his the argue that he felt bottling up
inside him. His way of saying sorry to her, if she cared to listen to the music.
So everyday, he would drag himself to the company where he would sign all the documents that need
to be signed then, in the afternoon would be spent in the studio recording his songs and making some
changes in them.
And today was the last day of the record and he couldn't be any happier. He was spent for the whole
month. I mean, morning meetings and afternoon full of needing energy and then a evening with silent
treatment. Who wouldn't be anyway?
"What do we call the album?" Chris asked his manager pulling out a drink from a fridge that was at far
end. Of course he was avoiding the discussion of his personal life.
He walked back to one of his seat and pulled his own seat to sit on with the cold drink on his hand.
"How about I'm sorry?" his manager asked. "I mean, all your songs here are basically apologies to
whoever you offended and it seems they won't forgive you."
Chris smirked at him, "I would say that that is a good title but there are so many songs with the word
and I need a unique, title?"
"Of course," his manager smiled at him. "How about heartbreak?"
Chris this time laughed, " Remind me why I make you my manager again?" He asked taking a sip of his
drink. "Because heartbreak is the name of Chris Brown's album, remember?"
"Yeah, sure," he said rubbing his already messy hair, "but you got to admit I got a good sense of
humour."
Chris gave him him a weak smile. He had met his manager when he was still in highschool. Actually he
was the one who discovered him on a street battle. Of course, he did street battle in order to earn
money for his school fees and to also help his mum around the house.
His life wasn't always a bed of roses at all. He had his own share of ups and downs but he managed to
get out of the situation they were in. And that, that was because there is no situation that is permanent.
It's just always about us giving our best and getting out of where we're.
And that's what Chris did. His mum did two jobs to pay for bills and his nanny who took care of him
since he was ten. The one who was there to remind him that nothing is impossible as long as you put
your mind in it. So, although singing wasn't his number one, he gave himself chance. A chance that
changed his life.
His music was loved by many and that music made him go to university without struggling to get fee. It
paid for his designing career and he couldn't complain at all. So when he had a little savings, he
invested in a starting company where he bought two shares. He knew that wasn't his dream but one
has to start from somewhere.
So with his music and him being a shareholder of a starting company, he saved all the money he got.
But first, he had to make his mother and nanny comfortable in their own house. A place where they
would be rent free. And he did.
He bought a house for them and moved them in. He would go to visit every weekend since the house
wasn't where he worked. So him being the determined person he was, he got to learn more skills from
his boss and he loved her critic. She was always honest to him and everyone around her.
If she didn't like your design, then she didn't. If she saw a mess, she didn't sugar cot it for you at all.
And that made him the person he was today. And for that, he was greatful. And as for his manager, he
marketed his first album which turned out to be a great his of all time.
That is what made him so famous and everything. His second album came around and still, it was a
great hit but not like the first one. Then the company happened. He started his company and it wasn't
easy. Again, no one said it was going to be easy. And with that, his focus went to his company. For the
past two years, he didn't think of his music but he did perform when he got the chance and the time.
I mean, that's how he met Maya. When he was performing and that's how he got the chance to kiss
those lips that were so full and so tempting and since that day wasn't the same again. Yes, it wasn't the
same because when he kissed Kimberly, he hoped that he would feel how he felt when he kissed Maya
but he felt nothing. No spark, no nothing.
Then after one month she showed up again. Wanting him to marry her and he did marry her because
of her father. He was the governor and he feared that he would say something that would compromise
his business. So in order to protect his business, he married her and he made it his mission to make
her pay.
And he did make her pay. Little did he know that he was hurting an innocent person. She was also a
victim of her own father's madness. What he didn't understand was why he would treat his own fresh
like that. See why his life changed when he met Maya?
"Hey," his manager waved a hand at him, "did you hear anything that I said at all?"
Chris looked at his manager who just finished talking. He didn't actually since his thoughts where
somewhere else. And just then, something came up on his mind. Why didn't he do that from the start?
He just hoped that she will love it.
Chris got up from his seat and placed the empty can on the opposite table and looked at his manager
then producer.
"Why don't you guys come up with a name," he looked at his watch. "I've to be somewhere, so lemme
know what you decide and it better be a good name for that matter."
And with that, he was out. He pulled his phone from the pocket and called his nanny. Afterwards, he
walked to stores and bought everything that he needed for his plans to work. All he did was hope that
she would at least listen to what he had to say and when she spoke up if she will, it won't be a threat
like last time but a good answer. A normal one since he missed the naive Maya. The one who thought
that they would be friends if anything.
Chris got home and carried his shopping bags to the kitchen. He added the stock in the fridge and took
out the things that he needed. Once he was done stocking the fridge, he washed his hands at the sink
and then got to work.
He needed everything to be ready before she could get back from work. So he did what he knows the
best or what at least his mum and nanny taught him. His hands were moving faster and he couldn't be
any prouder than he was. He was still go at it. This was something that he didn't do often and it made
him think that maybe he would change a career, maybe.
After two hours of him working around the kitchen, everything was done and all he needed to do was
set the table then he would head to the shower. Everything had to look perfect for tonight. Once done,
he walked to his bedroom to take a shower.
Cold shower did wonders on his body. He needed to calm his nerve down the moment other thoughts
began to invent his mind. He had to have positive thoughts all through the night and not negative ones.
They weren't needed at this time.
Chris pulled the jeans that he had placed on the bed before he walked to the shower. He wore them
and his wrist watch. Once done, he pulled his white snickers to match his tee shirt and walked out of
the room. It was twenty minutes past seven and he had to hope that she will be back.
She always comes back to you, Chris.
Chris pulled his phone from his pocket and connected it with his Wi-Fi. He wanted to bust himself when
he saw that it was half past her arrival time. He didn't want to get himself all worked up when he knew
from the very start that something might happen.
He went to his WATS up and began to view people's status. There were funny memes and video which
he couldn't help himself but laugh at them. Once he was done, he went to reply to his email even
though he didn't want to do business at this time. Not when he was waiting for Maya.
By the time his mind came from work, it was almost midnight and he was all sleepy. She wasn't back.
She wasn't back and the funny thing was that, he didn't even have her number. Who does that?
Apparently it Chris.
They've been married for three good months and yet he has no number of his wife. How ironic could
things get? Just then, he heard the car pull in front of the mansion and he knows that it's going any
moment because it was not parked at a packing lot.
Please don't be going anywhere. Please don't.
After few minutes of waiting, the front door opens and the car pulls away. Chris rises his head to meet
his gaze with his wife. She looks tired even from a far. He wants to wrap his hands around her and tell
her that it's okay but he has to hold himself back.
You don't need to upset her before dinner.
He reminds himself.
"Hey, I made something to eat," he had to start from somewhere."I mean, have you eaten?"
You sound ridiculous Chris. Good try.
She didn't say a word to him. Instead, she broke their staring competition and began to walk towards
the stair case. She just walked passed him and he panicked. He didn't know what else to do to stop her
so he just reached out for her hand pulled her back.
It was a stupid move but what else would he have done?
"Please listen to me Maya," she had landed on his chest and he held her there. He didn't know why but
it felt like she belonged there. In his arms. It's like it he was made for her.
"You know," he began still holding her in his arms, "I've really been trying for the past one month and
two weeks. Please don't give me silent treatment no more. I admit it. I was wrong but we all deserve a
second chance Maya. Where is my second chance, Maya?"
He was now touching her soft hair in his hand and it did surprise him for the past two minutes, she did
stand him. She didn't protest being in his arms and neither did she stop him from holding her hair. Was
that a good sign? Was she going to give him a chance?
Just then, Maya pulled herself away from him and turned around. She was doing it again. She wasn't
sparing him a glance and he didn't know why it hurt him more than anything Kimberly ever did to him.
Wait, was he having feelings for her? Was he developing feelings for her? But he was in love with
someone else. Someone that made his life easy than Maya did. Someone who understood him well.
The one who knew how to handle his weakness. He was in love with Kimberly.
Maya was about to take her first step of the stair case when he stopped her. He had to try his luck at all
cost.
"This ones Maya," he began. "If you don't want anything to do with me after this, I'll give you the
divorce. Just this once, Maya."
