Chapter 25
Chapter 25 I Will Win Her Over
Gwen’s fists clenched tightly as she fought to control her anger, resisting the urge to lash out.
The man in front of her was none other than Theodore–the notorious playboy of the Quinn family and the very person her brother had once suggested as a marriage alliance partner.
If it were just about a potential marriage alliance, Gwen wouldn’t be reacting this strongly.
The real reason for her anger was simple–Theodore had been calling her an “ugly duckling” ever since they were five years old. He had even gone so far as to publicly declare that he’d rather die than marry her.
Well, she didn’t like him either!
If it weren’t for the fact that Pedro had been her father’s teacher, she would’ve given this sharp–tongued playboy a piece of her mind long ago.
Meanwhile, Theodore remained oblivious to the storm brewing on Gwen’s face, continuing to prattle on, never realizing that the intriguing beauty standing before him was the same girl he used to ridicule.
‘So, could I possibly get your number-
Before he could finish his sentence, the handkerchief Gwen had used to wipe her tears was flung back in his face. By the time he caught it and looked up again, she was already storming off, her quick pace was a clear sign of her
irritation.
Confused, Theodore watched her retreating figure, still holding the tear–stained handkerchief.
“What was that about?” He scratched his head, utterly baffled. “Did I offend her somehow?”
He stared at Gwen for a long time, the confusion slowly melting into a grin as his playful eyes narrowed. “Feisty. I like
With that, he opened his WhatsApp and fired off a message to his group chat.
Theodore: “Guys, big news! I’ve found my dream girl!!!”
Bradley: “What?”
Jake: “A rare beauty with brains and charm?”
Theodore: “Exactly! She’s sophisticated, cool, and absolutely stunning! I met her tonight, and she’s just… perfect! “This is definitely true love. I’m telling you, she’s the one!
Bradley: “Yeah, right. Who do you think you’re fooling? We all know you. Stop pretending to have profound love, I’m not buying it!”
Theodore: “Don’t be like that! What if I’ve finally found the one to settle down with and turn into a perfect husband?” Jake: “Unlikely. The odds of that happening are about the same as winning the lottery.”
Theodore: “Mark my words, I’ll have her within a month. I’ll even post a picture of us together to make you guys jealous,”
In the study at the Lawson residence, Gwen handed the intricately carved wooden box to Henry.
“Henry, I got the pocket watch you wanted from the auction.”
“Good.” Henry took the box, setting it aside as he continued reading the news.
Gwen, curious, sat down across from him with a mischievous glint in her eye. “Since when were you into old trinkets like this?”

just helping a friend,” Henry replied without looking up.
Gwen rested her chin on her hand, her eyes sparkling with interest. “A friend, huh? Care to share who this friend is?”
The pocket watch had a distinctly feminine design. Considering Henry’s usually cold and aloof demeanor, especially around women, Gwen couldn’t help but be suspicious. He rarely had female friends, so why would he ask her to bid on something like this?
Unable to escape Gwen’s prying questions, Henry finally set down his iPad and replied, “It’s for Ms. Sutton. William asked me to get it for her.”
“William?” Gwen repeated, blinking as she tried to recall who he was.
“You’ve met him a few times. Remember?”

Gwen nodded but then hesitated. “I think so… But I’m not really familiar with him.”
She vaguely remembered that William had grown up in a single–parent household and had taken over his father’s business early on. He had always struck her as strict and serious, so they hadn’t interacted much.
At that moment, Kenneth knocked on the door and entered.
“Mr. Lawson, Mr. Hall, the CEO of Hall Group from Bellmont City is here. He wants to pay a visit.”
Gwen couldn’t help but smirk. So, Jake was desperate enough to come knocking after all.
“Didn’t succeed in getting Theodore to help, so now he’s trying his luck here,” Henry said coldly, irritation flickering across his face. “Tell him I’m not seeing anyone today.”
“But…” Kenneth hesitated.
“But what?”
“Mr. Quinn is here with him,” Kenneth explained. “He said he’d like to discuss some matters with you personally.”
Henry’s expression turned even colder. He didn’t owe Jake any favors, but Pedro was a respected elder–his father’s teacher. He couldn’t simply turn him away.
Henry sighed and stood up. “Have them wait in the main hall. I’ll be there shortly.”
Turning to Gwen, he added, “It’s probably best if you don’t get involved. I’ll handle this.”
Gwen nodded, but her eyes darkened as she watched her brother leave the room.
