Chapter 80 Ran Into Trouble
With that, Elaine grabbed her expensive purse and stormed out of the office in her high heels.

Simon seemed unaware. “She came to see you? I’ll head over right away to take her away. I’m so sorry about this.”
Before he could finish, Bella hung up.
This man was full of lies. When he went to the small town to find her, he claimed he hadn’t wanted to search for her and her mother because he was struggling financially. By the time his business picked up, her mother had already passed away.
But Simon’s daughter with another woman was only five years younger than Bella. This meant he was already married and had a child when Bella joined the Miller family. He had been lying to her all along!
During her lunch break, Bella was catching her breath in the hallway when Ian approached her with a cigarette in hand.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
Bella glanced at him and remarked, “People who smoke really know how to pick their spots.”
Ian smiled and asked, “I heard someone made a scene this morning. What happened? It sounded like they insulted your mother.”
Bella’s annoyance was evident as she spoke. “Don’t even mention it. I think they’re all crazy. I’m heading back to my office. And you should try to smoke less in the hospital.” After watching her leave, Ian turned to the window and looked downstairs. A white Mercedes was parked there, with a woman standing beside it, talking on the phone. It was Simon’s wife.
He took out his phone and messaged Dominic to let him know Bella was in trouble.
By half past ten at night, Bella had finished her surgery. She changed her clothes, packed her things, and left the hospital.
As soon as she stepped out the door, Elaine confronted her. “I thought you weren’t coming out tonight.”
Bella glanced behind Elaine and saw Simon clearly inside the car, choosing to be a coward by letting the two women fight it out. She found it laughable.
“You think I’ve been avoiding you? I’ve got a clear conscience. Don’t be so shameless.”
As she tried to walk away, Elaine grabbed her wrist. Her long nails dug into Bella’s skin, leaving a red mark.
“Your mother was a homewrecker,” she said. “I bet you haven’t had an easy time in the Miller family all these years. Tell me, how much would you be willing to sell your kidney to help my daughter?”
Bella tried to pull away, but Elaine’s grip was like a tight claw. Each struggle burned her skin with pain.
“You’re the parents,” Bella said with her voice rising with anger. “Why should I be obligated to donate my kidney?”
Elaine sneered, “You’re a doctor yourself. Don’t you understand how much losing a kidney can affect a person?
“That’s just how the world works. Some lives are valued more than others. Your worthless life is a disgrace to me, a stain on our family! And it’s all because of your shameless mother for having you out of wedlock!”
Bella laughed bitterly. “Are you serious? Is that what Simon told you? That my mother had me behind his back? You’re so gullible. Why don’t you ask him yourself?
“Some lives might seem more valuable than others, but to everyone, their own life is the most precious. Whether your daughter lives or dies is none of my concern. Now, let go of me!”
