Chapter II Surviving Without The Walsh Name
“All that you have, you have because of the Walsh name. Since you want to break away from the Walsh family, then make a clean break. Leave behind anything that belongs to the Walsh family, including the company’s shares and the future inheritance rights of the Walsh family and the company. They don’t belong to someone without the Walsh name!”
Enoch stared unwaveringly at Old Mrs. Walsh with a seriousness never displayed before, his black suit accentuating his solemn attitude.
“Mother, rest assured, I will return everything that belongs to the Walsh family without taking a single penny. I also forfeit my position and inheritance as the Walsh family’s firstborn. From now on, my wife, children, and I have nothing to do with the Walsh family!
For too long, his wife had suffered because of his family; they had even lost their daughter for over ten years because of his mother. Now that they were finally reunited, it was time to focus on his family. He vowed to protect his wife, daughter, and son, even from his own mother and the rest of the family.
Enoch’s words made it clear that he was severing ties with the Walsh family. The thought of the immense Walsh inheritance now belonging to them elated Lauren and Verona.
“Very well, this is your decision. Henceforth, you are no longer my son, and the Walsh family will consider you a stranger. I want to see how you will survive in Brookville without the Walsh name!” Old Mrs, Walsh focused her icy gaze on Enoch and the others, her face contorted with anger.
They were sorely mistaken if they thought it would be easy to live without the Walsh name. Without the Walsh family, they were nothing in Brookville. Even finding a place to live would be a challenge.
Old Mrs. Walsh looked at Enoch and the others coldly, her eyes full of disdain and contempt, especially when she caught sight of Christine and Oona’s faces. She wanted to see how they would kneel in front of her and beg for mercy to return to the Walsh family.
“Christie, I’m sorry for the hardships you and the children may have to endure in the future!”
Enoch didn’t care at all for his mother’s words. His wife and children were far more important than the Walsh family in his heart. His mother’s actions had finally shredded the last vestiges of care he had for his old family. He didn’t want his wife and children to suffer anymore. He would shield his family from the challenges they would face now that they were leaving the Walsh family.
“What nonsense are you talking about? We’re a family bound by marriage and blood. What can we not face as long as the four of us are together?”
Christine had never liked the Walsh family for so many years, especially after Old Mrs. Walsh secretly gave away the baby girl she had carried within her own body for ten long months. She found them utterly beneath contempt. If it weren’t for Enoch, she would have unleashed her anger on them long ago.
Now, Enoch was leaving the Walsh family for her and Oona, appeasing the rage she had quelled within at last. Unlike these would–be strangers, Christine knew better than to underestimate her husband. Even without the support of the Walsh family, no one in Brookville would dare to provoke Enoch.
The Walsh family name and assets may have been prized possessions to Christine’s sister–in–law, but they meant nothing to Christine.
“You’re right. As long as the four of us are together, we will be happy no matter what! Enoch looked at his wife’s beautiful and bright face, unable to contain his happiness.
Seeing the public display of affection between Enoch and Christine only served to fuel Lauren’s jealousy, Back then, she was the one supposed to marry Enoch when that simple country bumpkin appeared out of nowhere. Therefore, she ended up marrying his younger brother. Micah barely held a third as much influence or skill as Enoch had
